It’s crazy how many thinks you’ve addressed in this video that I’ve been worrying about on my 96, and you just talk through it so nonchalantly like it’s nothing. Something I appreciate about your videos is how educated you are for one, and how easy you make these problems sound to fix. Like you’ve said in other videos “don’t overthink any of this stuff, it’s probably very simple” and that sentence alone makes me feel like “yea I can do this” thank you Dex. Your real fans don’t need anything fancy or the tricky editing, there is plenty of authentic content here to look past the production aspect of things
Man I’m gonna get that whole comment on a picture for my house. I appreciate that. I think basic knowledge and honesty has gotten me very far very fast.
@dexjeeps agree with everything said. Keep it simple, overthinking things just complicates it and normally creates issues. One idea I've had for a bit. It would be killer if you did a subscriber contest for a chance to come to your place for say 2 or 3 days, heck even 1 day would be sweet. Bring the winners XJ with them, wrench/fab day 1-2, wheel day 3. I think you'd get some heavy interest and increased traffic, not to mention some great content. Heck, I'd pay for a few days of wrenching/shinnanigans at your place with my rig for that matter. Either way, keep rockin bro! Great content and knowledge!
Awesome Build, And let the haters hate because they Ain't got a jeep that can do what yours can. Love your videos and thank you for all the knowledge you give All of us
Loved the video! I have an xj like your's, where I just started welding stuff onto it to make it work and keep it going, it's a rock now, a heavy rock lol. Love the channel; it reminds me that I need to try to get on the trails more.
1:00 No joke was literally just thinking how you got an air compressor built in to air up the tires, Would definitely love a diy tutorial when you get the chance. Shits awesome Dex. Love watching these videos.
It would have been nice if you had worked on the design team for Jeep, Chrysler, and Mercedes, back when these XJ's were built. We would have had some awesome options for the XJ's and other Jeep models. I really enjoy your videos my talented friend!
We need a video about where to start for the people just getting into off-road and decide to buy a Jeep. I like how you keep it simple and reinforce what’s needed and make minor changes for obvious advantages in suspension. I keep getting information about you should do this or you should do that it’s a bit overwhelming when I’ve never messed with anything for off-road. I know to reinforce the unibody that seems to be a must just for abuse purposes but the suspension side gets me all confused. I know I got two jeeps and one is a trail rig on 31.5’s and then my daily is on 35’s but I couldn’t tell you if the suspension is stock or not. Great videos man!
I've always heard from old timers said you could make an air compressor out of an ac compressor but it wouldn't last long because the freon is what lubricated it. I worked on a cj that had one that works really good but it was a different style and it looked like it had actual oil bath in the compressor.
Amazed at your way of making things work with what you got on hand! Genius!! So that jeep is about stock height? What size are the tires? I like your final statement, quit putting 7 inch lifts on Cherokees and just go have fun!
I've been dying for an old police Jeep hoping that it would have a police package computer and everything in it that would still have the motor perform a little better than the stock
Most of the police or "fleet" vehicles came with 4:10 gears and a factory LSD in the rear. If you can find one you definitely get some nice factory options right from the start. If you're really lucky you can find one of the few that came with a factory D44 as well.
Taco man here🙋✌️I have a tacoma 2001 4cyc I was replacing O2 sensors every year the tip of my muffler was black soot bad injectors were sticking I used laqur thinner 1 gallon to 8 gallons of gas ran it out fast run it out put back gas in been 3 years now run nice strong 👍 Plus pulled intake also cleaned was bad nasty sand n oil cleaned with oven cleaner no more soot on tip ✌️
16:33 Funny enough my passenger side motor mount sheared off doing donuts one time. Hit a pretty nasty rut and the whole motor shifted forward at an angle, Radiator fan was cutting up my radiator. 😂 Made it home though. Pulled the radiator and moved the motor back in place and welded the shit out of it. Just turned over 250k miles on it and she still running good.
Talk about a frankienstien custom build! Great work my man. Keep on keepin on. What a great way to make use of all the parts.. no way in hell people can say anything. Your a jeep master builder 😂 ( If anyone gets the reference)
Hey Dex, Since your so knowledgeable about anything jeeps I was wondering if you knew why my XJ started squeaking, or you could almost call it chirping like a bird. I'm pretty sure it's my front driveshafts U-Joints that are making the noise, It only happens when I start moving and once I get going quick enough I can't hear it anymore, but that's probably due to all my door seals being gone and the other noises just drowning it out. 😂 It seems to something drive shaft related. Im not sure if you've encountered a problem like that but from everything I've read up on, it should be the U joints going out. Figured I ask the Jeep expert. Thanks
@dexjeeps For reference, Before buying it it sat in a shed a few years, Once i had it I didn't put alot of big trip miles on it, Maybe 50 miles between work and back, But just moved from California up to North Dakota and about half way through the 1500 mile trip it started to squeak. Was able to make the rest of the journey no problem. Reading up on the cardigan joint that definitely seems to be it. Much appreciated Dex.
Your exactly right stop putting 7 inches of lift and thousands and thousands of dollars ! It was so much simpler and enjoyable at this stage . They need to open a shixbox class like 33 under and for most part stock
That tube would have to be pretty dang hot to instantly convert a constant stream of cold air into hot air, plus using that logic the second any cold air got into the intake manifold it would immediatly become hot lolol peoples logic confuses me sometimes

A lot of low dollar engineering going in this video. I absolutely love how you think threw problems.

Well said sir! And i completely agree!
Man I don’t know if it’s your dream but you are living the dream of many others! Absolutely love your approach to jeeps! Keep it simple! Make it fun!
The best quote I've ever heard "some people say you can't do it.... watch me"
You impress me more and more with each video I watch, lol. The KING of XJs!
Dex taking the cheap route to the MAX! 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome Build, And let the haters hate because they Ain't got a jeep that can do what yours can. Love your videos and thank you for all the knowledge you give All of us
Appreciate that. Forsure. It’s been through a lot!!

He has a couple how to's on the AC air compressor on his channel.
One man's piece of tihs is another man's piece of tihs.
Super smart, simple, and cost efficient mods. The way Jeeps are supposed to be. Love the videos!

very interested to know more about the ZJ 4.0 vs the XJ
I will add that to my list
@@dexjs tons of metal just came out of my 94 xjs 4.0 and ive found a 95 ZJ 4.0 for sale so it would be good timing
New to the channel Dex love the realness not a bunch of fake acting -your the real deal wish they were hour long

I love my xj. Except the loud BANG when I turn right.😅. Love the channel bro
I make you a short next week. Thank you
Air travels so fast through an intake does not matter what material it’s made out of! Gotta love the internet experts

It works great. People are so negative 🙄

I've got a 2000 former county sheriff XJ, and it feels slower than my '99. Seems like the maintenance was kept up tho.
I’ve drove 10000s of Jeeps. This one has an odd torque/ loose torque converter set up but I could be wrong

Waiting on the magnum 318 going in the tj lol great vids
People with lathes are busyyy 🙄 so we bought one.
I like how you basically used a lot of repurposed parts to make a very capable "budget" build.
Basically the entire jeep. Forsure!!
Video I’ve been waiting for!!
Awesome jeep hope to see it wheelin at some point
I love ypur jeeps!

It’s the double cardigan joint close to the tcase. The little cv ball is just dry and needs replaced. Any chance you just lifted it?
@dexjeeps Bone stock still. It's a 1995 so it's probably just old. I appreciate you getting back to me. I'll get to looking at it.

Dex
What about filming how u have done ur transmission buttons ?
Would love to do this to my rig back here in the uk
Your exactly right stop putting 7 inches of lift and thousands and thousands of dollars !

They need to open a shixbox class like 33 under and for most part stock
That is a nice jeep, not 20,000 in mods, and built to work
I have an air compressor like that on my 89 xj no a/c or heat but I can air up my tires lol
That tube would have to be pretty dang hot to instantly convert a constant stream of cold air into hot air, plus using that logic the second any cold air got into the intake manifold it would immediatly become hot lolol peoples logic confuses me sometimes
exhaust made out of driveshafts? Roll cage as a coolant line? seat belts for limit straps? I'm done LOL
Pretty much!
What do you run for a locker in the front end?
What did the dual piston rear calipers come off of?
Everyone loves a good shitbox
What size tires @dexjeeps
Them are 32x10.50 utv tires.
Where can we buy new quarter panels for our Jeeps anyone ? 2 door
👍🏻💯🇦🇺⛽️
That sucks
Awesomesauce
😂
