- Teleport-Countering, or "tc" in short, is the crux of any self-respecting pro / competitive DBZ Budokai 3 player.
But many people still fail to realize that teleporting not only isn't a free "Out-of-Jail" card, but it can also very easily put you in a spot worse than when you were getting comboed.
Therefore, I've decided to create a perfect showcase of it, using many characters and demonstrating that it's not a matter of being able to teleport or not, but carefully choosing WHEN to do so and, most importantly, WHAT to do next.

Teleportation has its limits. Every players that Plays Budokai 3 and Infinite World for real knows this.
Exactly man, especially Z3 difficulty in infinite world... Teleports you not help you that much.
Nah iw and budokai 3 have the same teleportation but it works differently lowkey like in budokai 3 I try to teleport using forward and x instead of back and x and it doesn’t work but in infinite world it does and it stops from doing the kick so I can do a combo
@@PSYCH0WARRI0R You can do the exact same in B3, it just has a different input. In B3 you do the TP attack input but hold the G button and then you’re free to do as you please
People claiming to be smarter about the game but don't realize you can get punished for spamming teleport counter. Budokai devs were ahead of thier time after watching these vids. As an adult you have see how deep this game can get on a competitive level.

Frieza seemed extra mean due to all the stuns into super.
Bardock is the Dragon Ball equivalent to the DOOM SLAYER lmao that fits so much
so basically, teleporting is like timing interruptions in Yugioh. Shotgunning it can be the worst possible thing for you since you can end up allowing their far more powerful plays to go off as a result.

Honestly, I just wish they gave us an actual tutorial on how to deal with teleports because how do you turn around so fast on reaction to teleports like that without counter teleporting yourself and spending Ki?
It's a read, or educated guess if you prefer.
Once you know how to fast cancel, you only need to "learn" when the CPU is going to teleport and act beforehand accordingly.

Can you make a more in depth tutorial about everything that you might need to know about Teleports? Like how to effectively use them in competitive play, how to effectively punish them, ect.

It's basically this games equivalent to parrying, at least that's the way I look at it.

In which game? SF3? I don't know about that one chief. I mean, you can't really bait parries unless you space out the timing of your attacks to screw with your opponent's parry timings. Whereas with teleports, it's more like bursts in anime fighters. It's a tool that can get you out of combos and blockstun, yet it can be baited and punished hard if improperly timed and if your opponent's looking for it.
I like how this issue us handled in tatsunoko vs Capcom. There you can sacrifice most of you meter during a combos to break it an reset back to neutral. It's still risky because you are left without meter.

it's a free reset if you mindlessly teleport into your opponent's cancel, but you can definetely escape combos by teleporting if you're at least mindful of when you do it

Actually, that got me thinking. Are there any CPUs that Teleport smartly like a human? Or do they just spam teleports like idiots until they run out of Ki?
They're programmed to teleport in a certain way, so when you learn it, they all become stupid and predictable.

its been years since I've played budokai 3 and I failed to realize then the amount of depth this game had.

How a teleporting escape mechanic that costs resources should be balanced.
Either with nearly all your resources, or with a caveat that makes the teleport itself unsafe despite having less than 50% of max meter cost.
Teleportation is cool and all but sometimes it'll fuck you up if you just use it just to use it

I came to your channel because I was wondering if it was possible to reliably do 10+ hit combo and found some tuto. It's inspiring to see ! ^^
Sadly, because of a health condition, I can't use my left hand to a degree where I could effectively play most games. Budokai 3 being one of them. So watching you perform good gameplay is thrilling ! I never expected piccolo, cell or bardock to be so good ! Neither did I knew that comboing past 30/40 hits is not as rewarding as staying below that threshold in term of damage.
When it comes to teleportation, you just proved that it's possible to counter the "basic" one. But I don't really understand how. You "anticipate" the TP then press the D-pad accordingly to continue your combo on non d-pad move ?
I remember that it is possible to teleport behind your opponent and put your guard up.
I was wondering if the "best" play would be to TP+guard (I remember my gaming from 15 years ago, it was possible in the ps2 version to end up with your character on guard behind the opponent) then R1 to break the combo and recover ?
Someone must have asked the same question somewhere, but I just wanted to add a comment !

I counter teleports by canceling some specific strings really fast and inputting the next move as soon as the CPU teleports.

also it's funny how people said that " if i teleport, it's ok" when you should generate more ki with combo and i am xurious how they would react after teleport teleport... even more when this game doesn't have online (except the few people i play with them on zerotier) so it's rare that people have more that 1 player to play with it ( that is not enough to learn pvp because generally we learns the same good and bad things if we are not enough players) and the ki management is often a problem for most players and also probably the main important things of this game... Also like you show in this video we have many hard strings to teleport against and anti tc mechanics so it's easy to say "i will teleport" but i am also curious how they will do it against players.
this is how it felt the cpu for me when i played IW on my casual playthrough for the first time, (against syn as well) on VERY EASY

baddack is the ultimate char for these li sheron fights. I think in the hands of a very strong player he's top 3 in the game. He's limited because he doesn't have the transformations that cell & goku have but his damage output as well as how easily you can pull off his infinite is very powerful. Maybe one day you will do some baddack vs Li compilation or something.

Not to discredit the showcase or the combos but I did play the game competitively and yes you can teleport when getting combod at any point as when you do you can block and read the incoming and then side-step/wait for the cancel string if you know the gap. So don't be fooled into thinking you can't do so. The AI doesn't do what a human does and that's block and then atk/trade. Some characters have faster frames and start ups but most have even frames on normals. Good video as always but wanted to just inform people who didn't get to play the game during its glory days that it's not as bad as it seems.
Yes, but basically you know that teleporting means both players will have to guess their opponent's next move and none of them have a "guaranteed" escape or follow-up, unlike those comment usually imply.
@@Dr._Doppietta that's very true I don't disagree. But I wanted to inform people that getting juggled to death is avoidable. If they don't learn to have patience then that is their fate lol. But I just wanted people to know there is hope and that this game and the first few DB-T series where probably the most fleshed out dbz games ever made and should give them a try. Remakes would make more money then making a new game and just updating it since it has almost everything needed.

Isn't this the second time you had to do it to em I remember about a year or two ago being one of those people who thought the teleporting back hit was to fast to reverse for but refusing to comment on your videos about it out of respect for the effort put into your TAS videos and assuming there were likely frame perfect TAS strats to get around them anyway but feeling you did it on purpose for added flair then the first video came out and apologized for my lack of knowledge which was accepted now I see you doing it again some people never learn tbh though I still prefer playing the game as though you can't anyway since I enjoy turning the game into a slower more resource management style game over the quick TOD combo style the game actually ends up being simply out of preference not like anyone I've ever known is this good to begin with lol
