I use to do that in the sims 2 just go into a dorm and sell all the other sims beds and desks/dressers so that i could have a nicely furnished dorm room skbdjd
You can edit the dorms, just use a cheat, sims just cant live there while you do it and once you move in you cant change it . But in general they gave you the choise you can change it or dont. Its very usual thing for sims 4 with the cheat it gives flexibility for obvious reasons :D
a townhouse really just looks silly when standing alone, little disappointed they didnt give us the chance to use apartments again, itd have rly gone with the townhouses thing! but otherwise, im pretty happy with this pack!
Your sim can live off campus in other cities, so you can live in apartments. But I also wish we would have gotten another apartment building to decorate or gotten the ability to make our own apartments/dorms.

This might not be relevant to university, but there's a virus going around on cc downloads. It gives you pop ups of money scams and nsfw sites. If you download cc stay far away from adfly links and go to sites you trust. I just got it and I had to have my whole PC wiped to factory condition(thankfully I back up my save files and mods folder regularly on a drive). Be careful everyone!
I’m genuinely so sad we can’t have stoves in the dorms... In my experience of living in Halls (U.K.), the kitchen was the main space we’d all sit and work and hang out. You’d have to claim cupboard space as quickly as you could, you’d spend the whole year finding gross mouldy food in the fridges. You’d make your group Christmas dinner there, your morning pancakes after you stayed up all night playing games. We had carbonara-offs and so so many omelettes/BLTs and pasta dishes. Now my sims can’t experience any of that 😢
Some American university’s have dorm suites where it’s like 3 bedrooms, tiny living room, and the smallest kitchen and that whole thing was a dorm. But the college I saw with these suites didn’t have their own bathroom. Usually offered to upperclassmen. Freshmen gotta suffer and share everything lol
Sounds like living off-campus in the US. Although, my school seems to be an exception to most as all the dorms at my university have at least a floor kitchen, if not one in the suite.
Don't watch wait till it comes out and try it for yourself. It is easy for someone who gets a game for free to tell you how good it is. This pack is going to be broken just like the magic pack still is for lots of people accross multiple platforms. Don't fall for the hype
the sims team really tried to tell a story w/ the Elderberry Family haha. I'm pretty sure the room with the "apple boxes" (which are supposed to be like storage boxes) is supposed to look like an old attic w/ the kid's toys. At least the team is trying! I'm so excited to get this pack 🤩
have you seen the live stream? this pack kinda feels like the opposite of trying in my opinion :( I guess everything’s up to different teams though, probably nothing to do with the team who make the lot and try to tell stories

My laptop was not even a year old, and University was the first pack I installed. I got about 30 minutes of 'fun' before I scolded myself for wasting so much money on a crappy game. Took me 3 years to convince myself to buy Sims 4 after that, since I had lost all faith in the sims team, but I'm glad I did, and I would never go back to the horrendous sims 3 even if I had a state of the art computer. It wasn't designed to be accessible, so I'm not going to give it the time and day
Let's be real: that's always how it goes with new packs. Then the weight of the sponsorship is off, everyone realizes they already exhausted all the content at Sims Camp, and the flaws start to stick out when they spend more time with it. Now we get on the complaining bandwagon and act like they'll do better next time, hype up the next pack, and the cycle continues.
I think the issue is they do add backstories to some townies but there's no prompt to explore it or anything else to find out, whereas Sims 2 had literally like an interactive story of "can you get Cassandra and that painter guy together?"
since 1995 Yes! And I think they dropped more clues here and there in the buy menu and in new lots or backstories, so we’d start draw connections that made it all seem way more mysterious and engaging
In my game I’m going to replace the starter home with a cafe. I’ll give it the study lot traits and have my sims study there. Sort of like “The Grotto” in the Sims 3.
I bet they did this because it would break the cafeteria thing (maybe the employee would cook on the dorms stoves instead) and they wouldn't bother to fix it

The universities really remind me of Ivy League unis in the US, and Oxbridge in the UK. Edit: the river going through it is definitely Cambridge inspired
it reminded me of st andrews in scotland, which is our answer to oxbridge/the ivy league. the unis are definitely american inspired but i do love that we’re getting more worlds that feel like they could exist in other countries outside america.
Clara T I literally just commented on this. The rivers were definitely inspired by Cambridge but I’m pretty sure I saw a similar looking accommodation building in Oxford (pink exterior and all). And it’s confirmed kinda with the naming: BRITchester - Brit for British and Chester is A common place-name suffix.
I’m honestly fine with the rabbit hole classes cause I need a break from my sims sometimes 😅 also playing through the classes in sims 3 got boring fast tbh and I’m glad that all of them weren’t interactive but that’s just my opinion

We have four in Taiwan, three bunk beds(two of them have tables under there, the other two are cramped together In the corner ) and zero personal space(the whole room is just beds and tables cram together), it looks worse than a prison. I live there for a day for a test run, and I can barely sleep in there because I can't stand the thought of people watching me, and my brain drives me nuts, so I don't live in a dorm room .
i need someone to immediately go in and make a mod so that we can have stoves in the dorms, because having a communal kitchen is actually an essential part of living in student housing in europe lmao

The Britechester dorms for some reason just gave me major flashbacks to the sims 2 dorms (even though they're not all that similar) and this makes me so happy! :D Sims 2 university is genuinely still my favourite pack ever, so I am really looking forward to this.

You can join organizations (robotics, debate club, and art society I know are in the game) that'll involve activities around campus like that. In the livestream they showed the robotics club having an event and the art society doing figure drawing, and of course the debate club will meet in the commons & practice.
me too :-( there's already a Get To School mod where you can follow your kid sims to school, so maybe there'll be a kind of Get To University mod that comes out? i won't get my hopes up but it's a possibility 😂😅
cloud quest the events are cool but from what I saw from youtubers, they’re not very interactive, you’re just kinda there and nothing really happens, I wish they were more like goaled events but I’m sure someone will mod that for me
I would imagine for the people saying "oh my god the dorms are so empty I don't get it!" the answer to "when did you ever move into a dorm room" would be "never". These lots look so real to me.
The only thing that doesn't look real to me is the no stoves in. But student rooms always seem to either be big and empty or incredibly small where it only just fits the basics in (bed, desk and wardrobe)
@@welshsam94 Yeah, since I found out about "no stoves" being part of the lot type I'm not as happy about it. They've based most of the pack on UK aesthetics but the UK norm is to have kitchens in the residence buildings. I don't mind leaving stoves out for the American audience but we should be able to add them if we go through the steps to edit the lot.
Sam Gilley when I moved into my freshman dorm, all it had in there was desks that you couldn’t move, closest that was small and the beds. It was so empty. It’s pretty real

Mine had a teeny tiny kitchen. like walk in closet sized and I never actually saw anyone cook but the pans were always dirty. but also i lived in the oldest dorms on campus lol.
My dorm building at my university had a kitchen on every floor. They were actually a good size. You could either borrow pots & pans & stuff from the front desk or keep your own in your dorm

In the building I was in, the standard was two, but they had more incoming freshmen than expected. So I ended up in a room of three but it was the same closet size room as the doubles
i've been wondering, when one of my actual sims finish university and the next generation is going to university, will it be empty, or will it be replaced, because sometimes when the time passes and actual residents dies, the lots aren't replaced with new sims, i'm concerned i'll have to fill all lots with sims by myself in the 'future'
The university buildings from Britechester look exactly like the university buildings in TS3. The house at 8:58 kind of gives me a renovated farmhouse feel.
I totally love this I can’t wait. No one will ever be happy with what the sim team gives us unfortunately. I have always been happy and grateful for their hard work.
I really like the tech school buildings and I feel like the "emptiness" of some of those buildings is actually realistic. Maybe it's just me but I can see that being in a real tech school and a group of engineer guys arguing over equations on a whiteboard (they actually do that) or people playing hacky sack (that game with the little beanbag you kick in a circle) and the extra space being a good thing so you don't get stuck waiting for someone to drop it. I did go to a tech school though and I like the clean white open space vibe.
My college dorm had 3 roomies in it, I roomed with 2 sisters- a junior and a freshman. Also, NO STOVES in my dorm, love that they added this to the sims. We only had a common microwave and were allowed a hotpot for boiling water or soup. Other than that we had to go to the cafeteria.
So now I have 3.5 hours to finish my real life homework so that I can watch your stream and talk about University and fake sims homework... I AM SO EXCITED
Honestly I just got very English vibes from it. I didn't think it was bad, in terms of looking like a real home. Just bad in a English countryside architecture kind of way lol.
I am soooooo happy that you are not disappointed with this pack. I get what other people r saying about the kitchen within the dorms because all the dorms I lived in had a kitchen. My freshman year there was a kitchen in the building oh and side note I lived with 2 others girls in a room “fun” (Kayla’s voice) my junior and senior year there was a kitchen in both suites I lived in. But for this pack it makes sense for there not to be a kitchen because like u said your sims can actually get out and have some fun, meet people and have a life. Can’t wait to see what u do with the buildings.

Lilsimsie is literally my favorite sims youtuber. OMG! I have been hearing other people's opinions about that pack and their complaints about the classes being rabit holes, and I was like: "Hmm... That's an interesting opinion that I don't agree with.". And Lilsimsie came to the rescue by explaining exactly why rabit hole classes are a good thing and I am so thankful. Because at that point I just think that people wanna find something to rant about and they pick out the smallest of things. And because the latest packs haven't been the best, I think people have the opinion that The Sims 4 isn't a good game anymore, but the thing is it is still a good game, and espetially this pack. Think about the things they would have to leave out if they hadn't done rabit hole classes. Huh? I always loved how many degrees there were in The Sims 2, and The Sims 4 has done the same thing (The Sims 3 can't relate, though.). We have literaly so many degrees that can be linked to every career we have in the game. And that wouldn't be possible if the classes hadn't been rabit holes. So thank you Lilsimsie for sharing your opinions about that pack, you're a true game changer! I love you so much and can't wait for the Simsie Save to be updated.
I agree. After all the complaints I've read about the rabbit hole classes I was glad to hear Kayla explain why it's NOT fun. I wouldn't want to have to sit and stare at my sim sitting in class, even on fast forward. The funny thing is that the same people who are complaining about not going to classes would be the ones complaining about how boring it is if they had to follow. I played Uni in Sims 2. At first I was disappointed that the sim went alone. But I quickly realized it was better that way because it was tedious enough staring at the screen while they did term papers and homework.
I had a kitchen in my dorm (in the US), but no one used it much outside of making study food in the evening. I also had a mini fridge in my room. Microwaves and hot plates were not allowed in our rooms but the dorm kitchen had a stove and microwave if we needed it. Mostly we just went to the cafeteria for meals though.

Look up terrace homes and their layouts! I think that’s what they were aiming for with the houses. I used to live in a 3 level terrace and our bedroom was an entire level, spare bedroom + sitting area was another level and then lower level was kitchen/living/dining. Hope that makes sense x
I think Britchester is inspired by Oxford and Cambridge, hence the accommodation. That’s just my opinion though. It’s pretty likely since it’s the older university that accommodates more “traditional” degrees, like Oxbridge does. Also it’s called BRITchester. I disagree with your statement on rabbit hole classes. yeah, sure, we don't want to watch out sim stare at a board, but we could have practical classes be playable in the style of get to work, with robotic, repairing stuff, for the engineering degree. debate class or the likes.

I had a triple (three roommates in one room) during one of my years. Fortunately we were all friends, so it was okay. Though those rooms are FAR larger than ours was. Also, many of my dorms had a small kitchenette for all the floors to share (though in one, each floor had a room with a sink if I'm remembering). Not enough for a great meal, but enough to make cookies.
My first thought was that those dorm rooms are HUGE😂 I love the no kitchens and roommates though! The campus buildings and world in the background look awesome!!

ryley dude, I don’t get it at all. I never played university in S3 because my computer gave up on the game long before that but I cannot see how going to classes was anything but tedious. On top of the gameplay being boring as all get out it would take a bajillion years to play through all those credits for even one sim. I’d much rather send my sim down a rabbit hole and stalk randos around the dorm while they’re away.

I think the issue is they do add backstories to some townies but there's no prompt to explore it or anything else to find out, whereas Sims 2 had literally like an interactive story of "can you get Cassandra and that painter guy together?"
since 1995 Yes! And I think they dropped more clues here and there in the buy menu and in new lots or backstories, so we’d start draw connections that made it all seem way more mysterious and engaging
In my game I’m going to replace the starter home with a cafe. I’ll give it the study lot traits and have my sims study there. Sort of like “The Grotto” in the Sims 3.

Clara T I literally just commented on this. The rivers were definitely inspired by Cambridge but I’m pretty sure I saw a similar looking accommodation building in Oxford (pink exterior and all). And it’s confirmed kinda with the naming: BRITchester - Brit for British and Chester is A common place-name suffix.

I’m honestly fine with the rabbit hole classes cause I need a break from my sims sometimes 😅 also playing through the classes in sims 3 got boring fast tbh and I’m glad that all of them weren’t interactive but that’s just my opinion

We have four in Taiwan, three bunk beds(two of them have tables under there, the other two are cramped together In the corner ) and zero personal space(the whole room is just beds and tables cram together), it looks worse than a prison. I live there for a day for a test run, and I can barely sleep in there because I can't stand the thought of people watching me, and my brain drives me nuts, so I don't live in a dorm room .

It's actually pretty much the same with a lot of dorms in the USA too, every dorm I've been to had a communal kitchen.
If you change it to a residential lot, you can place a kitchen. They wanted to recreate the struggle that first year (American) students experience
yeah it's so annoying the ea team were like 'we want to make it realistic' it's like what exactly is realistic about the sims when they have vampires, woohooing robots and drowning sims in a pool lol.
Making pancakes or bean stew at 3 o'clock at night and the whole dorm hall swooping down to eat them is a much, much more characteristic experience for my University than keg stands and beer pong.

The Britechester dorms for some reason just gave me major flashbacks to the sims 2 dorms (even though they're not all that similar) and this makes me so happy! :D Sims 2 university is genuinely still my favourite pack ever, so I am really looking forward to this.

You can join organizations (robotics, debate club, and art society I know are in the game) that'll involve activities around campus like that. In the livestream they showed the robotics club having an event and the art society doing figure drawing, and of course the debate club will meet in the commons & practice.

cloud quest the events are cool but from what I saw from youtubers, they’re not very interactive, you’re just kinda there and nothing really happens, I wish they were more like goaled events but I’m sure someone will mod that for me

I would imagine for the people saying "oh my god the dorms are so empty I don't get it!" the answer to "when did you ever move into a dorm room" would be "never". These lots look so real to me.
The only thing that doesn't look real to me is the no stoves in. But student rooms always seem to either be big and empty or incredibly small where it only just fits the basics in (bed, desk and wardrobe)

@@welshsam94 Yeah, since I found out about "no stoves" being part of the lot type I'm not as happy about it. They've based most of the pack on UK aesthetics but the UK norm is to have kitchens in the residence buildings. I don't mind leaving stoves out for the American audience but we should be able to add them if we go through the steps to edit the lot.
Sam Gilley when I moved into my freshman dorm, all it had in there was desks that you couldn’t move, closest that was small and the beds. It was so empty. It’s pretty real

i've been wondering, when one of my actual sims finish university and the next generation is going to university, will it be empty, or will it be replaced, because sometimes when the time passes and actual residents dies, the lots aren't replaced with new sims, i'm concerned i'll have to fill all lots with sims by myself in the 'future'

I totally love this I can’t wait. No one will ever be happy with what the sim team gives us unfortunately. I have always been happy and grateful for their hard work.
I really like the tech school buildings and I feel like the "emptiness" of some of those buildings is actually realistic. Maybe it's just me but I can see that being in a real tech school and a group of engineer guys arguing over equations on a whiteboard (they actually do that) or people playing hacky sack (that game with the little beanbag you kick in a circle) and the extra space being a good thing so you don't get stuck waiting for someone to drop it. I did go to a tech school though and I like the clean white open space vibe.
When I went to college, there were 4 of us in a room with double bunk beds. It was a nightmare.

My college dorm had 3 roomies in it, I roomed with 2 sisters- a junior and a freshman. Also, NO STOVES in my dorm, love that they added this to the sims. We only had a common microwave and were allowed a hotpot for boiling water or soup. Other than that we had to go to the cafeteria.
It reminds me of York. The bikes. The water. The two unis. One old and one new. Even the houses are in the style of York houses. I kind of love it.
So now I have 3.5 hours to finish my real life homework so that I can watch your stream and talk about University and fake sims homework... I AM SO EXCITED

I get what other people r saying about the kitchen within the dorms because all the dorms I lived in had a kitchen. My freshman year there was a kitchen in the building oh and side note I lived with 2 others girls in a room “fun” (Kayla’s voice) my junior and senior year there was a kitchen in both suites I lived in. But for this pack it makes sense for there not to be a kitchen because like u said your sims can actually get out and have some fun, meet people and have a life.

I went to college in Western New York State, and my first dorm building didn't have a kitchen, but my second building had a kitchen on the first floor. One of the buildings has kitchens, and we have apartments on campus as well.

Lilsimsie is literally my favorite sims youtuber. OMG! I have been hearing other people's opinions about that pack and their complaints about the classes being rabit holes, and I was like: "Hmm... That's an interesting opinion that I don't agree with.". And Lilsimsie came to the rescue by explaining exactly why rabit hole classes are a good thing and I am so thankful. Because at that point I just think that people wanna find something to rant about and they pick out the smallest of things. And because the latest packs haven't been the best, I think people have the opinion that The Sims 4 isn't a good game anymore, but the thing is it is still a good game, and espetially this pack. Think about the things they would have to leave out if they hadn't done rabit hole classes. Huh? I always loved how many degrees there were in The Sims 2, and The Sims 4 has done the same thing (The Sims 3 can't relate, though.). We have literaly so many degrees that can be linked to every career we have in the game. And that wouldn't be possible if the classes hadn't been rabit holes. So thank you Lilsimsie for sharing your opinions about that pack, you're a true game changer! I love you so much and can't wait for the Simsie Save to be updated.
I agree. After all the complaints I've read about the rabbit hole classes I was glad to hear Kayla explain why it's NOT fun. I wouldn't want to have to sit and stare at my sim sitting in class, even on fast forward. The funny thing is that the same people who are complaining about not going to classes would be the ones complaining about how boring it is if they had to follow. I played Uni in Sims 2. At first I was disappointed that the sim went alone. But I quickly realized it was better that way because it was tedious enough staring at the screen while they did term papers and homework.
I had a kitchen in my dorm (in the US), but no one used it much outside of making study food in the evening. I also had a mini fridge in my room. Microwaves and hot plates were not allowed in our rooms but the dorm kitchen had a stove and microwave if we needed it. Mostly we just went to the cafeteria for meals though.

Look up terrace homes and their layouts! I think that’s what they were aiming for with the houses. I used to live in a 3 level terrace and our bedroom was an entire level, spare bedroom + sitting area was another level and then lower level was kitchen/living/dining. Hope that makes sense x
I think Britchester is inspired by Oxford and Cambridge, hence the accommodation. That’s just my opinion though. It’s pretty likely since it’s the older university that accommodates more “traditional” degrees, like Oxbridge does. Also it’s called BRITchester. Brit, being British and Chester is a British place-name suffix.
Although the shared rooms are very uncommon here.

I disagree with your statement on rabbit hole classes. yeah, sure, we don't want to watch out sim stare at a board, but we could have practical classes be playable in the style of get to work, with robotic, repairing stuff, for the engineering degree. debate class or the likes.

I had a triple (three roommates in one room) during one of my years. Fortunately we were all friends, so it was okay. Though those rooms are FAR larger than ours was.
Also, many of my dorms had a small kitchenette for all the floors to share (though in one, each floor had a room with a sink if I'm remembering). Not enough for a great meal, but enough to make cookies.

ryley dude, I don’t get it at all. I never played university in S3 because my computer gave up on the game long before that but I cannot see how going to classes was anything but tedious. On top of the gameplay being boring as all get out it would take a bajillion years to play through all those credits for even one sim. I’d much rather send my sim down a rabbit hole and stalk randos around the dorm while they’re away.
