I didnt get historia at first on my initial watch but it makes alot of sense for a girl who grew up parentless to want to believe in her dad. Theres different speculation for why rod reiss' titan ended up the way it was, some people think its cause he licked it instead of getting it through syringe, but as long as spinal fluid enters your blood stream itll transform you. Kenny cut rods tongue previously and thats how it worked w him. I personally think his pure titan is so massive cause of a combo of his desperation and his royal blood but that's just my opinion. He's still mindless, just MASSIVE

the most popular theory about why Rod's Pure Titan was like that is because of the way he received the fluid. the "normal" way to use it was to inject it. but Rod licked it instead, which made him transform abnormally. his royal blood also probably didn't help.

I'm commenting before I even watch cause I have been WAITING for this. Rod's titan is honestly the most terrifying part of this show to me. The sheer size of him. Nah man. I think this was the first moment I could really empathize with the fear that they have to feel whenever they encounter titans.

As far as I’m aware theories have just been that the serum was special, that it was because he only licked a tiny bit of it, that because Historia fractured his spine before he drank it it didn’t absorb the same way others do. But also he says “I can’t become a titan” in a way that makes you think he knows that he will become abnormal.
