The funny thing is that I think most people have already experienced no separate self, and it just wasn’t that big of a deal. If you’ve ever “lost yourself” in a book or a movie, or been “in the flow”, where it seemed like your body was on autopilot and was just doing its thing with no “you” controlling anything, then guess what. That was the experience of no separate self. Congratulations! On the flip side, make a mistake in front of an audience and you’ll quickly become very aware of your self, i.e., self-conscious. Once you’ve seen that the sense of self comes and goes, it becomes easier and easier to see through the illusion.
Even when lost in thoughts there is no separate self. The separate self comes in as an after thought and says oh I was thinking this and that, or I was lost in thought Its like the Clown that takes the bow after the show is over.
Ive noticed more space when i close my eyes and let sound, internal sensations and the visual field relax. Opening my eyes creates a stronger sense that im located behind the eyes, but i find that your pointing out instructions help with this. Thank you Sam 🙏
"According to bundle theory, an object consists of its properties and nothing more; thus, there cannot be an object without properties and one cannot conceive of such an object. For example, when we think of an apple, we think of its properties: redness, roundness, being a type of fruit, etc. There is nothing above and beyond these properties; the apple is nothing more than the collection of its properties." -wikipedia now apply this to the body
You’re the only one I’ve found in YT world and beyond that seems to address the experiential challenges of separation and non-duality. It’s so appreciated Sam.
This is such a compelling a beautiful video. Thanks. I've discovered that when this 'deep' spaciousness arises, absent of a sense of willing it, there is, literally, no me.
Great content,as usuall! Here is a question: do you consider that it would be an important step before attempting to know your nature,to get in touch of your wounds from past, to process at least the major ones,to heal, therefore some of your defense mechanisms melt down, and the awakening would be a more quite, less ,,frightening " and confusing discovery? Thank you.
If you feel that the direct recogntion of your true nature is to steep of a hill to climb then trust your intiution and resolve whatever you need to resolve emotionally first. However my general approach would be to spend the minimum amount necessary with your past trauma and get to know your true nature first. Then it is possible to resolve any past trauma in a completely different way.
In terms of the visual field you can allow the attention to rest directly in front of you. But of course attention may go wherever it will. The important thing is just to not become fixated around your attention and to simply stay with the relaxed openness.
The attention here, seems to be focused on emotional irritation in the body, specifically the solar plexus. The habit of emotion work kicks in. Do you feel that it’s ok to allow this to rest?
To notice the fundamental nature of our true nature it is essential to drop any attemt to change the content of our experience. Then, when there is clarity in the recogntion, we can approach emotion-work in a profoundly different way.

Your instructions had no effect on my delusion. My karma wont allow recognitioin of this. I agree that frustration is frequent and giving up is also likely. I like the idea of awakening, but I dont feel any resonance. I would contact you for help, but I am a lost cause and would just be wasting your time. Thank you for helping others!
What I've found helpful: When I have a thought like "I feel frustrated", "I can't figure it out", "I will never recognize this" etc, I do the following: 1. Notice I am aware of this thought 2. Notice that there is a "space" of awareness that this thought is in 3. Notice that the thought arises and subsides in this space. 4. Allow the attention to shift to that empty space. Each time another thought comes up, I don't try to suppress or analyze the thought, instead I just repeat steps 1 to 4. I've been doing this for only a couple of weeks and it has become more and more effortless, and the sense that there is a "thinker" thinking these thoughts has become weaker. I learned this approach by reading John Wheeler, and I've found the pointers on this channel to be very helpful as well. Also if a certain thought keeps coming up, I might question whether it is actually true. For example, if I have the thought "My karma wont allow recognition of this", I can question: do I know for certain that karma is real? And even if it is real, can I know for certain what kind of karma I have? And who is the "I" that has this karma? Is the "I" actually observable in direct experience?
I understand your frustration and I write this from a place of great compassion, but no one is unable to recognize their true nature. No one is a lost cause. This is available for all because we all are this awareness essentialy. I am 100% sure you frustrations can be resolved.
I hope this video will be useful to you! If you'd like to get in touch with me you can do so through my website: www.sam-gow.com

Thank you Sam! Great pointer!! One question, when I relax my vision, where should I rest my attention? 🙏

This question really interests me too. Can you please do a deeper dive video on it? @Sam_Gow
