USING THIS METHOD YOU CAN UPGRADE YOUR CONSOLE TO 500GB, 1TB AND 2TB SSDs. 960Gb SSDs will be recognized as 500Gb drive and after installing Xbox OS you have to connect that SSD to your PC and manually extend "User Content" partition to maximum available space. You can use software like Acronis, Mini tool Partition Wizard etc.

@1misanthropist most likely the official tool will format your 4Tb SSD as a 2Tb drive. Then you have to connect that SSD drive to a PC and extend "user content" partition to maximum size.

This tutorial got straight to the point and stayed there - you can pause and then follow steps, nice and easy. While I was swapping out the 1TB drive for a 2TB SSD I figured it was worth getting the fan out and giving that a clean, which wasn't too difficult. And then much to my surprise, when I put everything back together and reinstalled, all was well! No scripts required. Thank you.

This video was great and made it easy to do. 2013Electronics&Computers you might want to make a video on how to install the Xbox One S and X boot animation for those that want it on their consoles as this procedure does not include it. Had to wait for new OSU to come out a few days ago to fix the insider build corrupt files. I Plugged in new OSU1 with flash stick and it updated great. Then I joined insider hub on the console and went to -> settings -> manage devices -> unenroll Xbox one x from developer program -> restart -> reset to factory. And when the cloning is done resize manually the "user content" partition to maximum available space.

It’s a headache. I did the whole process and the disassembling is just ridiculous. The worst part is the harddrive. I got a new SSD 1Tb and the offline updating system has stopped 3 times at 63% during the last step “applying update” for endless hours. I left it 24 hours the first time, 16 hours the second time and 4 hours the last time. The hardrive health in “crystaldiskinfo” is 100% healthy and it works great on PC (samsung 870 evo SSD). I have disassembled it 3 times, first time with new ssd, second time to put back the old hardrive, third time retrying the new ssd. I’m currently cloning the working disk onto the new ssd. So, one last assembling or disassembling before I give up. I guess 4th time was the charm, the ssd was still not recognized as a clone and the system went i to error e105, picked reset to factory, and then when restarted to error e102 and picked offline update but it still went ahead and downloaded something online, did an installation of something and then it worked. Finally fixed with new SSD.

Great job anyway! Usually this process is very smooth but there's lots of things that can go wrong.

Best Buy has Crucial 1 Terabyte SSD drives for $84 bucks. They are made by Micron which is known to make good products. The reviews are great. I added one to my PC and it is running perfectly. I may have to buy another one for my One X and use my PNY 500GB SSD in my PS4S.

@@ElectronicsComputers got a 1tb on usb at the moment, was gonna go straight to install it internally when i saw this video, only thing stopping me last minute was infact the loss of space, hence the wait for 2tb prices to drop

I can't afford to get the Xbox series one x. So I am going to do this upgrade tomorrow. Thank you so much for the very easy to follow tutorial.
