Bought this machine, the Toro 724 QXE, last February (2017) before our 'big one' of the season. It was the last one in stock. I read many convincing video demos and reviews. I went to the store, not impressed by what I saw from prior knowledge on the big, cumbersome heavy 24-26" blowers weighing 300-500# one of which I had. This machine weighs a little over 100#. I took a leap of faith as it was the last one in stock and the storm was coming. I bought it and I'll tell you, WOW! what a performer. The storm hit a day later, 18-22" of drifting blowing snow. This little giant took it all on. Of course where the snow was drifted >24" I made several small cuts but the Snomaster was indeed a "snow master". A real benefit is it's quiet, very quiet, a real plus. I have it a year and through several storms from powdery snow to wet slushy stuff and it has never failed to impressed me with its power and ease of clearing the white stuff. I'm in eastern PA. Best decision I made in awhile.
I have this snow blower 2nd year now. Not much snow this year so far. Only one dump 4 inches. The previous winter we had a quite a lot. It goes through 18 inches of snow well and cleans the mess from the city plow. I think it's really great even in wet snow. Starts very easily just like my personal pace lawn mower does. It doesn't really not bog down in that it is just working harder but still just throws the snow. It has lots of power. You can hear when it's working harder as opposed to when it is hardly working.
Here I am again, 3rd winter for the Toro 724 QXE that's reviewed below. I've removed 24" deep powder and packed. I've removed 3-4" water wet snow. It has NEVER clogged. Never. It blows the snow 10-12' high and 10-20 feet out. I've pushed through water puddles from snow melt with NO problems. The best part of this machine is it only weighs 125# and easily maneuverable. It's single stage. You have less mechanicals to wear or fail. I don't have to hump this beauty around like the boat anchor I sold a few years ago weighing >300#. I'm 74 and done proving my masculinity. There's no reverse but it needs none as it is light and easily pushed around. Again, there's less mechanicals to break. No question about it the best purchase and bang for the buck I've made in a long time. .02
I'm impressed. I would have never expected that from a single stage machine. Also the quick stick system is awesome. I'd buy it for that feature alone!
The quick stick does work well, and is available on all of their driven models now. As slick as the quick stick is, the only downside to it is that since the hole and ball it rides on is rounded, instead of squared, there are certain combinations of position that can't be achieved as easily.
Replying to my own post to correct an error. Bought a new Snowmaster for my mom, appparently they fixed the issue mine has with the quick stick reaching all positions with the chute. Sorry for any confusion.
I picked one of these up used (twice) this week for $400. Hoping to get some snow soon to test it. If the personal pace system is like the one in their mowers, it will get less grabby with use.
If you do not get a lot of snow, the Toro is the best. This is the machine my neighbour uses while I use a 26 inch 3 stage Troy-bilt. Now for the bad, my neighbour has created tall snow banks cause the Toro throws very short with our snow conditions. No such trouble with the 3-stage at all.
I bought this a month ago and go figure we have YET to get snow... I'm so annoyed because this time last year we had 3' of snow in VA...lol This is the first time in my life I am excited to get ANY amount of snow so I can use the 724qxe. It really is a awesome machine. Very light (compared to a big two stage), but can handle the higher snow falls that a smaller single stage just can't really get through.
I also have myself Toro self-propelled smartstow recycler and the Straight Shaft Gas String Trimmer, both really great products. I'm in the market to buy my snow blower and i dont even bother looking at other manufacturers. Toro just makes great machines, its just hard to pick the right one.
I'd like to see this thing go through 2 ft of snow. Anything can go through that fluff you guys are running it through. I have the dual stage Powermax 724 and so far the sheer pins have broken twice (never had that happen on any of the three blowers I've had before), the 'Quick Stik' (while functional) feels like it's going to break apart - all plastic everything. Also had one of the lever springs snap in half (also never happened on any other model). The parts quality is very low and you can tell a lot of this stuff is Chinese made. The best part if when the sheer pin snapped on the impeller, it slide forward and jammed itself on the auger. I had to disassemble the front assembly to get them unjammed. Great design Toro.
Another fun fact is that these units use a sealed one-piece plastic transmission that is "non serviceable". Toro wants to sell you the entire transmission assy. for over $300.
I kinda want one now I have a big Toro Powermax its great when you get dumped on with big drifts but its a beast to wrestle around. I had the Greenworks 80V that I used in most snow storms we only get 4 to 6 inches most storms in the Detroit area. I upgraded to the Ego now the Greenworks did surprisingly good I had no issues it felt cheap though which is why I personally swapped out with the ego. Also I wanted to consolidate battery platforms also. To be honest a single stage is quicker in those kind of snowfalls unless you get crazy lake effect or mountain snow a 2 stage is overkill
Jony, Yes, the machine clears well going fast or slow, conditions permitting. Like all machines, you'd use the speed best suited to your area and the amount/type of snow sitting on the ground. I would qualify my response to say that a lot of this depends on your definition of "fast". If your talking about jogging along behind it at 3 mph, I can't say that I've ever tried that. If your talking about a brisk walk, then yes it works for that. Keep in mind this machine unlike all others I've ever used or seen has the equivalent of an automatic transmission, what ever speed your moving is the speed the machine is moving.
No one ever explains how the pace drive works r how to repair? I have a toro 24 zxr wile I was using it it the drive and snow thrower well stoped working with engine still running. How do you fix the thing? Is it a belt? No info to be found anywhere crazy!
Jacob, Single stage means it has a single auger that moves very quickly so that it can also throw the snow. 2 stage means the auger moves very slowly and pushes the snow into an impeller that then throws the snow. Mixing oil and gas is required on a 2 cycle engine, this blower has a 4 cycle engine (no mixing ).
Doogals, the feet can be adjusted a couple inches up or down, and it does accept some other after market skids as well. Having said that, however, using a single stage on gravel is highly not recommended. Although I doubt gravel would affect it much operation wise, if it were to pick up a stone it will throw it at full force. In my use of it, which includes many areas Toro does not condone using it on, it works just fine, but those areas are mostly grassy, not gravelly, and in the areas where I might encounter the occasional stone or loose piece of asphalt, I point it where it will do no harm if such is encountered.
Can you please review snow blowers in at least 6 inches of snow I want to see if this thing can even handle a foot looks like 2 inches of snow in the video.
Dodge, there are actually several videos showing just how much this blower can push, you can check mackRseries, enjoymp3s, and Lawn and Leisure Power channels to see snowmasters taking on snow from 6" to "over the top of the bucket" :)
bog ess I wasn't referring to the video I was saying I had bad experience with craftsman and I want to buy Honda toros aren't any good with there crappy Chinese engines.
That machine is appx. 100-200 dollars more than battery snow throwers. It is self propelled, twice the power, probably last 10-20 years. Why would anyone buy the battery units? Because they know little about gasoline and the limitations of its shelf life? I know people that have three year old battery units, they are not happy to say the least. Expensive toys.
I got one of these, and you are correct, it is dreadful in packed snow. The stuff at the end of the driveway? Don't even bother. The "Personal Pace" drive system works fine in light snow but when you have to start pushing harder in heavier snow, it's terrible.
Haha going into 4 inches it was bogging down :D What a piece of garbage. Never gonna beat my 69 Ariens Sno Thro. Or a good old FMC Bolens Snow Caster single stage Tube Frame tractor attachment.
Toro's claim that this is a "2 stage" is more than a little misleading. This unit is in fact a single stage snow blower, Toro's claim that it is a 2 stage is a marketing reference to the auger/paddle design.

Grass in the Summer and snow in the winter, you guys have it all
Looks like a really nice snow blower

Man man that's crazy how much snow u guys got out there bro down here in cali I don't think we will ever see that :/ great video Dan and Enrique!!
Thanks Mike!
i got the same one works great
Iu just got one brand new haven't even started it up,,can't wait.
You will love it!

does this thing have a shearpin? i am so confused with these toros. some of them do and some of them don't
You guys are awesome! I have the 1200 series and love it.
Thanks
Have a Toro weed eater, zero turn mower and personal pace push mower great quality products by Toro
Nicholas Didier I have a toro trimmer and a toro all wheel drive mower great equipment
I also have myself Toro self-propelled smartstow recycler and the Straight Shaft Gas String Trimmer, both really great products. I'm in the market to buy my snow blower and i dont even bother looking at other manufacturers. Toro just makes great machines, its just hard to pick the right one.
Can you do a comparison of this vs the EGO 56v electric snow blower? Which do you prefer and why?
just bought one, Like the pace speed control, I have the dual blade toro mower with the pace speed control too,
Great video homies

Toro doesn’t use sheer pins anymore!
@@got2getit204 Looks like they call it a 'screw' but it's so flimsy it acts like a shear pin.
Another fun fact is that these units use a sealed one-piece plastic transmission that is "non serviceable". Toro wants to sell you the entire transmission assy. for over $300.
I have a 5 year old 24 inch craftsman 2 stage and it's never had any problems.
Check out Old Lens videos on using the snowmaster for his business. He has done about 1000 driveways and has had no problem with anything so far.
Now that one would be good for my area with the snow we get here. #TIACREW
I wonder if it will hold up in time.
The slomo was cool. That thing can throw the snow. #TIACREW

why everyone is skipping type of gas and should I mix it with oil?
I'd run 91 octane, no ethanol and you do not mix oil with it. It uses straight gas
You need to put some pressure on the machine to see how good they are. For example if you try to go fast can the machine still clear well?
Jony, Yes, the machine clears well going fast or slow, conditions permitting. Like all machines, you'd use the speed best suited to your area and the amount/type of snow sitting on the ground.

DOES IT COME WITH POWER STEERING AND CRUISE CONTROL ? ASKING FOR MY BLONDE WIFE.
How do u start it
If you hold the personal pace with your left hand and the fixed handle when taking off it won’t jump on you
I had a lot of trouble with the Personal Pace thing. It went from standing still to full speed very abruptly. Hate it. Sticking with my Cub Cadet.
Is it Self propelled in reverse? or is light enough to easly pull back multiple times.
Its light you can pull it back
No one ever explains how the pace drive works r how to repair? I have a toro 24 zxr wile I was using it it the drive and snow thrower well stoped working with engine still running. How do you fix the thing? Is it a belt? No info to be found anywhere crazy!
Call TORO
dan u guys should try an ariens up here in wisconsin everyone on our block has one
hmm I agree
Great video! Any regrets for not buying the 824QXE with a little more power?
thanks not at all we don't get huge storms.
Easy controls is nice and toro is a great brand. I'm glad we only get very little snow because that looks miserable#TIACREW
Is it 2 stage or 1🤔 Toro website says it's a 2 stage inline auger
1 Stage. Its a cross between a thrower and blower.
Are those rubber paddels
Can you please do a review on the Snowjoe 40volt ×2=80 volt snow blower
We reached out to them
Hey there how do you like the Snowmaster ?
EGO is crap. I'm selling mine. I just bought the SnowMaster 824 QXE.
Yup ego is crap
Does single stage mean you have to mix oil and gas for it to run correctly ?
Jacob,
Single stage means it has a single auger that moves very quickly so that it can also throw the snow. 2 stage means the auger moves very slowly and pushes the snow into an impeller that then throws the snow.
Mixing oil and gas is required on a 2 cycle engine, this blower has a 4 cycle engine (no mixing ).
Personal pace looks a little jerky !?
Can the feet be adjusted to clear a gravel driveway?
doogals99 they are bolted on and fixed; not adjustable. They should last a long time.
Doogals, the feet can be adjusted a couple inches up or down, and it does accept some other after market skids as well.
Having said that, however, using a single stage on gravel is highly not recommended. Although I doubt gravel would affect it much operation wise, if it were to pick up a stone it will throw it at full force.

bog ess that's good to know but I might just get a brand new Honda 1 stage since I've had nothing but crap experiences with craftsman 2 stage blowers.
Dodge, I'm a bit confused, the snow blower in this video is made by Toro, not MTD/Craftsman ?
bog ess I wasn't referring to the video I was saying I had bad experience with craftsman and I want to buy Honda toros aren't any good with there crappy Chinese engines.
Ah, sorry for the confusion !

just dont like gas...but it looks awesome...but its still gas :/ with accompanying problems
are you guys trying to be opposite, one guy is high vis and the other camo. lol
lol

Miller Lisa Robinson Robert Taylor Larry
Have you ever try that on a hard packed snowbank ?
I honestly don't think it can do it.
Since none of single stage can.
I got one of these, and you are correct, it is dreadful in packed snow. The stuff at the end of the driveway? Don't even bother. The "Personal Pace" drive system works fine in light snow but when you have to start pushing harder in heavier snow, it's terrible.
Best to get a good old garden tractor and snow blower attachment. Or an old 50's-70's snow blower. Back when they ate snow without shrugging.
Haha going into 4 inches it was bogging down :D What a piece of garbage. Never gonna beat my 69 Ariens Sno Thro. Or a good old FMC Bolens Snow Caster single stage Tube Frame tractor attachment.
You may have to correct ur statement, these are advertised as 2 stage not single like ur claim
Toro's claim that this is a "2 stage" is more than a little misleading. This unit is in fact a single stage snow blower, Toro's claim that it is a 2 stage is a marketing reference to the auger/paddle design.
This is is no way a 2-stage machine as you can CLEARLY see. I don't give a shit what Toro calls it.
I have one and to be honest it’s not that good
does it only work on 2 inches of snow? LOLLLLL
Yeah put it through 2 feet of snow like the east coast got on December 1st and the 2nd.
Worked great for me in 11 inches of snow 3 days ago here in Ontario
Not impressed. Just when you get into some serious snow, you back out like a wimp? Doesn't say much for the machine at all.
Plastic gear box
Junk. Take the $700 and buy a used Ariens....
