    Went with the 824 Qxe and it’s fantastic. Speed and maneuverability of a single stage with the power of a two stage. Personal pace and joystick chute controls are awesome very happy with it!

    I just bought the snowmaster one yesterday and so far it's working pretty good. Did about 8 (2 car lengths long) driveways with about 5 to 6ins of the powdery kind of snow and still almost has a full tank of gas. I give that product a 10

    Thank you. Your video helped me in so many ways. I’ve spent weeks looking into every brand and model that would fit our needs here in Wyoming. I especially like how you demonstrated the Toro’s fast reverse speed(vs the Ariens 28” comparable model- which I was considering until now).. I have made up my mind and will be buying the 28” Toro snow blower. Secondly, my wife and I appreciate you showing the joystick chute control. I will be hitting subscribe and clicking the bell. Well done indeed!

    Thanks for video... My old single stage just died and was in-between the SnowMaster 824 and PowerMax 824. Your video confirmed the SM is sufficient for my needs in MN. My conundrum is that the SM is $1099 and the PM is $1199. Am I better off in the long-run spending an extra $100 for PM?

      I was torn, I gave Steve my Snowmaster to clear out our studio. I liked it because it was light and easy to use. I run the Toro Power Max because here in New Hampshire we will sometimes get 18"-24" snow storms. It's a tough call they are both great machines. -Tony

      @@HomeOwnerRepair Thanks for the response... We get an average of 60 risk here and 12"+ are pretty rare. I found the SM for $900 in another town and think that solidifies my decision to go with it.

    That little snowmaster looks pretty nice. I have an aversion to single stage blowers, since I live on a 4 lane highway and the plow drifts are real. I just ordered the Powermax 826 today. Time to retire the old snapper 1030.

    These are the 2 I'm down to deciding on. Actually the snowmaster 824 and the power max 828. But this comparison helped . I just know the 824 has a bigger motor is all. Actually ordered the powermax 828 but it sat in a warehouse 30 minutes from me for a month and I never received it from HD. Returned it and cancelled the order. Snow season had ended while it sat. Leaning toward the snowmaster now for ease of use. Seems it will handle just about as much as the 2 stage. I'm in Ohio. Lots of ice and wet snow but all the vids including yours have me thinking the snowmaster line is more than enough for me..thanks for taking the time to make these vids!

      I'm in NH and I really liked the Snowmaster. It wasn't so heavy, and easy to use on the driveway. I was surprised it's a great snowblower. It also cleaned right down to the hot top.

      I live in ohio also. Just bought the 724 on Sunday after that snow we had. Was looking out the window watching my driveway pile up. I asked my wife if she'd prefer a metal or plastic shovel. She said metal. So I went to the store and came home with the shovel and the snowblower lol. Told her because I knew it was going to be me clearing the driveway. I have to say I'm extremely impressed with this snowblower.

    My experience with this snow, this will be my third winter with it, is very disappointing. Chute easily clogs in wet snow. Very frustrating.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What you can try to do is BEFORE you start to snowblow your driveway spray some cooking spray inside the chute, this should help to prevent the snow from sticking. I am up here in New Hampshire and live on the snow/sleet line and have not had an issue with the the snow sticking to the inside of the chute. If you do not have any cooking spray WD40 will work as well. Hope this helps you out.

    On the 824 the smaller blower, how are the self propelled wheels? does it still require you to push into the snow? Also, do you use gas with ethonal or somehow get regular gas as to perfomance and running?

      @@HomeOwnerRepair I found a new snow master 824. Had it last winter and used it once so far this winter. Love it! I'll never understand this but it was in TX. Had it shipped to Ohio. Lol . The world is an odd place sometimes. It's been amazing so far. I wanted the larger cc engine just because our snow is wet a lot of the time so I wanted as much HP and torque as I could get. Might not be that significant but thought why not if I could find one. From all the reviews it seems both are extremely capable of handling just about anything. I didn't ask but the local toro dealer it was delivered to assembled and test ran it before they brought it to the house. Was very happy with the whole process and how they delivered it. Toro is a good company.

      @@HomeOwnerRepair Do you feel that due to its heavy weight, power max is more planted in heavy snow and less likely to pull up and ride over the snow or loose traction like the snow master?

    • @mellowjammer
      @mellowjammer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@nsxproperties560 I have owned a Snowmaster since they first came out (824QXE). Yes, what you mentioned is the one downfall of the Snowmaster. Since the front end is so light it does tend to ride up over heavy snow that is packed down or frozen on the bottom. But if you can get out and get to your driveway before a bunch of foot/car traffic or a melt/re-freeze situation, it is the fastest, most maneuverable machine out there for light to medium snows.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mellowjammer Thanks for the report. That's really the age-old issue, isn't it? When I first moved into my house most of my neighbors had single stage machines. I'd estimate that 70% of the time, they worked better than two stage machines. Another 20% of the time they worked reasonably well but took more effort than a two stage would. But that other 10% can be a real PITA without the right equipment. Twenty years on, none of my neighbors have single stage blowers. It all depends on your particular conditions and personal tolerance. Ideally I'd have two machines, but that takes a lot of garage space.

    • @shayanmajeed2544
      @shayanmajeed2544 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It locks in if the lever is pressed while the wheel drive is pressed down letting your right hand be free. If you release the wheel drive the it unlocks and springs back up.

    Every video I see about the Snowmaster shows how the unit jumps at the beginning. Seems like the speed handle takes some getting used to.

    • @bogess1738
      @bogess1738 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It actually takes very little getting used to, and there are different methods available to control the throttle bar. For instance, if you hold the metal bar it is mounted too with your hand, you can gently move the throttle bar forward with your thumb, which completely eliminates any possible jumping (this is the method I use most often on mine).
      Alternately, place your hands on the top part of the bar (there are two grip positions, side and top) and start walking. This tends to keep the blowers nose forced against the surface better than gripping it by the sides.
      The number one way to get it to jump that I've seen is that people start pushing the throttle bar in before starting to walk, for this machine it is like goosing the throttle on a motorcycle, it will certainly pop a wheelie at that point ;)

    I like your videos, Toro 724 QXE looks like it handles heavy snow pretty good. Looking at the Toro 824 QXE , want to upgrade from the Toro Power Clear 721QZE . Being a single women and getting a little older need the self propelled forward tired of pushing it does the job, but hitting packed ice snow it struggles. Seems not too heavy to handle , and it’s only 6 lb. heavier than the 724. Have you looked at the 824 QXE or have heard about the 824 QXE. Do not want to go any bigger just sold a Ariens 824 2 stage , was 256 lb. too heavy for me. Live in New England and get heavy wet snow.

    • @windycityrider
      @windycityrider 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 824 qxe is basically the same snow blower as the 724 but it has a larger motor, which in my opinion, is worth the extra $100 in cost. That extra power means it will handle the workload you throw at it with much more ease. You won't even notice the difference in size between the two because the difference in engine size is in the displacement. I have a 17 year old Toro power clear that has been very good to me but it's time for an upgrade and the Snowmaster 824 QXE will be the one I buy! It's a sort of hybrid snow blower still very much a single stage but has some two stage-like features.

Advised by Toro HQ in Minnesota seeking their direction to get assistance with categorically no response. Toro websites make no mention of customer assistance.
