I'm excited to see the new members, but one thing I love about your channels and even Jacques, is the ability to make mistakes and laugh about them. I don't love the idea of having "experts" if it becomes too serious. I like the fun and loose educational videos that you and your current team provide. I'm still very hopeful that it will stay that way. Stay happy and heathy out there my friend.

Hey Kevin, I'm glad you are taking a look into what *truly* makes you excited and happy to talk about and focusing into that for the videos you are in. All areas of gardening can be interesting but certain things just makes a person psyched to talk about it. I think what draws most people to a channel is the infectious happiness a person exudes over their passion and you are great at that. When running a large channel like this one, it seems it can become overwhelming when so many people want some many different types of content that maybe you aren't super confident about or ,maybe at times, aren't all that "excited" to get into at the time. So, this "shift", I guess, where you get other people involved to talk about their happy passion area is awesome. It lets you take care of yourself better, focus on your exact passions (with the added benefit of maybe learning from an expert in a new area) and also doing "right" by the subscribers with our many wants. I hope that makes sense and I am excited for you and how it all pans out :)

I love this channel and how Epic has grown. Thank you Kevin! How about a series of fruit guilds in that open area? It's a concept most gardeners could adopt and I understand increases success in virtually all climates. Most folks don't have the space for a food forest but could do a food forest edge or strip. Looking forward to your native easement garden. Yay!

I remember finding this channel after I started playing Stardew Valley in 2019, when my curiosity for gardening began. It's been amazing to see all of your visions come together-- the first raised beds in the front yard, the coop, and the pond??!! Not to mention Kehlani's garden?!? Was that a fever dream???! lmao

I'm from San Diego (92154) so I love to hear your ideas because we pretty much share the same type of climate. I started watching you because I was interested in how to make my (very) small space grow enough food to supplement what I have to purchase. While you have seriously outgrown anything I could manage on my small patch of ground I still enjoy watching the progress you are making. I can almost take small bit of knowledge and modify it for my needs. What I would LOVE to see in the unused space you have is some experimentation with keyhole gardening. I live in a condo and can't install a rainwater catch system. I don't have enough area for a dedicated compost bin. I don't have monetary resources for much other than passive. I can't spare any space to try this on my own and risk a season's worth of food. I would love to see how this system works for real and you are never afraid to show what works and what doesn't.

Hi Kevin. Jess from Root & Refuge was talking about seed starting and really gave Botanical Interests and you a nice plug! I thought you'd like to know. Anyway, I've been watching your videos for at least 7 years and maybe longer. I think you do an awesome job. You have to evolve and you have to have a life besides just this. That girlfriend of yours needs attention! Nobody can do it all and it isn't healthy to try to be the entire company when you are as big as you are. There's such a thing as spreading yourself too thin. Still love how you delve into your various topics and keep it real. Thanks for all you do. I no longer live near San Diego and have moved to the Boise area but still find you relevant and I've been gardening mostly 50 years.

I found some Biotanical Interests seeds at my local nursery just yesterday! Was dealing with some bad news and they cheered me up so much, bought a whole stack!! Funny how seeds from a company owned by someone you don't know but admire and support can brighten a very bad day!

I love that you’re getting back into your passions and filming videos that inspire YOU and that YOU enjoy. The authenticity will shine and I think it’ll be even more rewarding. I can’t wait to see what’s coming for you in 2024! Wishing you all the best in your health journey as well 🤍

I really appreciate the native hell strip. Since you are such a huge plant influencer and now own a seed company, I honestly believe you could vastly improve our gardening world by making that seed company solely sell native plants and only ship to the areas those seeds are native to based on buyers shipping addresses.
You have the platform and the resources. We all know your channel and businesses bring in a lot of money (we saw the news vid on TH-cam). If you really wanna make a huge positive impact, native plants is it.
I recommend communicating with Joey from Crime Pays but Botany Doesn’t and Kyle from Native Habitat Project. They are excellent resources for sure.
And finally, just to drive the point home: natives help all of our native pollinators so much more than any other non native species can provide. They also help our local ecosystem and climate. They feed our local monarch migrations on the west coast and feed our local birds and insects which are so vital to our plants in so many ways.
So I strongly encourage you to help be that driving force since at this point your company is nationwide and you have a reach like no other.

I have learned so much about gardening form watching not only you, but all of the other gardener's you've introduced on the channel. My mom is a life long gardener and saw my less than one year old garden for the first time this weekend and gasped, saying it was a miracle that we've had so much success! Thank you for continuing to spread your knowledge and introducing us to more gardeners to learn from!

Hi Kevin. I've been watching your videos for 5-7 years. They are so enjoyable. I'm in hot Fresno, so I'm looking forward to your showcasing new native plant garden strip. For the front yard, if it were mine I would love some fruit trees, paths and perhaps a peacefully fountain and seating area. It's nice to hide from urban noise . Keep up the learning , and educating.

You have totally influenced me to garden. Everything was so productive last year that I couldn't keep up. I am still burned out from watering everyday for months by hand and the harvest with a full time job! Definitely need to set up a drip system and not plant as much. My freezers and cabinets are still busting a gut with produce even with giving so much sway to family, friends, coworkers snd neighbors!😊

Do what you gotta do to take care of yourself. I seem to hit a wall every winter and come back in the spring, which I suppose is what nature does, even tho I’m also in SD and we can keep gardening. I was determined to not drop the ball again, but with everything else going on in life, the garden went on the back burner and I just completely dropped it. Also dealing with health and personal, I decided to be ok with it, and went out the other day to find a full bed of cilantro and lettuce that self seeded, some other beds FULL of bell peppers and Birds Eye chilies and a tangerine tree full of fruit. Instead of pure excitement I felt stress. So I’m not going to drop it all, but I am hoping to just do what needs to be done as time permits so I can get back to enjoying it as a part of my life and not as such a laborious never ending JOB.

I was too weary to clean up in the fall and let everything go to seed instead of rotating a new crop in. Instead of feeling guilty or overwhelmed I decided to just enjoy the blooms I never would have experienced. Celery flowers attract the tiniest pollinators.🥰

OG epic girl here. Have loved your videos! We’re always learning about gardening and that’s some of the fun for me. I’m so excited for the homestead!! Would love to see experimental stuff. So excited for you and the team. Artichokes are looking good, so green! By the way, there is a topical stabilizer for DG in case the wheelbarrow digs into the DG. It’s going to be so cool to meet new people and see tours of places you’ve researched. Cheers Kevin and thanks for putting so much effort in your videos.

❤ this! You can only know what you want, from experiencing life, and seeing from that experience things you work for you, what what doesn't. So that's why I love your channels so very much, because you let us in on your experience, the good and bad, and we get to learn right along with you in our own personal journey. I found you in March 2020 and have stayed because you offer great content, but it is your attitude that makes it worthwhile. I've loved all of the people you have introduced me to, but it is your vision that keeps it fresh and exciting to watch. Keep taking good care of yourself, and you will never run out of ideas and people to create great things with. And keep on growing, Kevin!!! 🎉

Wow, so excited to see what you've got coming up this year! I have to say, when you talked about the skunks invading our garlic bed I fully commiserated. Skunks have been the bane of my garden for about two years now. I'm mostly a container gardener so chicken wire has saved me, and they have seemed to gravitated to other spaces. But then the feral cats and rats and squirrels have definitely tried to pick up the slack!! Oh well!

First found your channel when i was looking for indoor plant care. When you were at your old place. Your homestead is so nice, did such a good job. Happy to see you are getting into native flowers. I turned my front lawn away from grass and planted flowers and shrubs. Looks so much better and less maintenance.

You should seriously consider a deep wood chip mulch for your chickens. I started out about 3 years ago with a flock (12 hens with a rooster added last year) and put down about 12 inches of wood chips in their run. It's like a carbon diaper for their nitrogen rich poop and they are constantly scratching and turning it. If you dig down in my run now, there is amazing compost. The best part is that there is almost zero maintenance and absolutely no odor. The wood chips (from chipdrop) suck up everything and use the chickens for tillage.

One of the best things we can do for others is admit when we are struggling - it lets other know that it's ok. Making mistakes and failing is exactly how we learn and that's evident to anyone who gardens. Because I cam across your videos, I'm not planting a large part of my yard (1/2 acre) as a native species/pollination friendly area and am looking forward to even getting Canadian Wildlife Federation backyard certified! We've also branched out out veg gardening and have had our best years yet! Keep on doing what you do best and sharing your love of nature.
I'm not sure if you've ever thought of this, but what if you visited viewers gardens (even locally!)? You could riff on how to make things better, get inspiration yourself and just get to experience the joy that you bring to others through gardening, filling your cup back up

If it wasn't for you I would not have started container gardening. I bought seeds from Botanical Interests this year, I bought a bunch of flower seeds, trying to create a eco system, get more pollinators. The reason I mention this is because it has so many flowers that are deer resistant and where I live there are lots of deer who like to eat my garden. Thank you Kevin and keep going.

Kevin! I think the additions have been great and I very much look forward to them all. You, however, like it or not, ARE the Epic Gardener. If you are not fully present introing, outroing, commenting, etc. it just won't be the same. Please do continue to be present to maintain the Epic Gardening "company culture" if you will. You and Jacques have made an amazing pair and have set steep expectations for Epic Gardening content. For that area you are making plans for, what about a gazebo and mixed plantings of trees, berry bushes, and vines around the gazebo itself, veggies sporadically planted in beds with flowers. Just a big mish mash of perennial edibles and plants for beauty. No rows, just kind of random. Just a thought. Love how beautiful your new paths came out. Looking forward to the new year.

We have been watching you for a few years. Jacques and you bring unique videos. I know you deal with so much with business expanding but I was wondering if you ever thought of putting together a”epic gardening” club for your followers which would be divided in local branches. The aim would be to build local communities of gardeners who would help one another. Many things happen that make people fail, get discouraged and abandon their efforts etc etc…often it’s because people are isolated. They watch great videos like yours but it’s not enough without fellow gardeners nearby with whom to share experiences, help etc etc . You have such a great audience, maybe one day you could think of putting a platform together so members could progress more in the “epic gardening” experience that you have started years ago… thank you anyway for your enthusiasm.
