I completely understand the comment 😁 Just as I associate avocado green appliances with my parents divorce! Some items just bring you back. The comment was great 👍😄😄 Or the Big Head figures that remind me of the snobby girl that lived across the street from me! And her mother said I couldn’t touch her dolls 😆
Those amber sandwich glass plates are great! I collect that exact pattern in teal and amber, I always thought it was Indiana who made it?? In my humble opinion the amber and teal work great together on a table setting. Happy hunting!
Enjoyed your video! My best friend’s father worked for Tastykake as a delivery man. He drove to Phila everyday to pickup fresh baked items. The delivery men were able to keep any “damaged product”. I ate a lot of Tastykakes at their house as a kid. My fav was the blueberry pie and butterscotch krimpets!! Thanks for bringing back happy memories!
Perhaps the amber poverty remark was a personal memory or connection from a time in life when that person was financially suffering. They just happened to be using old amber glass at the time. Just a guess.
I was all but screaming when you were handling those glorious "crippled children" and Christmas seal stamps. I would happily apply them to everything I mail. The old hosiery boxes were delightful, and the contents reminded me of a phrase a friend from my distant past always used to describe any stale flower smell, "old lady nylons." I still use it today, which elicits confused looks, or a question of how I know the scent of old lady nylons. If you've ever had to clear out old lady's drawers (furniture, not panties) then you know the scent of stale sachet packets, and moth balls. Great fun, thanks for bringing us along.
I love depression glass, but one of my aunts says she doesn't because it does remind her of bad times. Everybody has the right to their own memories! That is what being free is about.
The 1950s and 60s nylon stockings, not pantyhose, can bring good money if in original boxes and good conditions. The people who dress in those era vintage would love them.
Another fun video. I love the Fry covered dish. And the dark glass fruit bowl (can't remember the maker now but found all over in other colors) I would have got (if price was right) for some mini pumpkins in the fall. The amber plates were great.
I deal in vintage clothing and vintage lingerie such as pantyhose bras girdles etcsome can sell for massive amounts of money. It just depends on the condition, the age, etc., I’ve bought dresses that people laughed at me and said that’s ugly. You’ll never sell it and I turned around and sold them for hundreds.
Was that green uranium glass cups at 4:28? I hope it was plastic since you didn't even blink an eye at them. YES I was thinking Angela Lansbury too! Ha ha, the one on the right could be Betty Grable!
That could be valuable, those old hose! Well, I never Scott! You're too much. Hahaha 😆 And Vinny I live in NJ and didn't know how to pronounce that town 😊
Wherever you “thrift” , gotta say you get so lucky, 👍👏,,, southern eastern corner of Wisconsin….💩🤮💩unless used dollar store water bottles are your taste😵💫🤪 but having fun seeing someone find treasure 👏😉
Maybe they were talking about Amber glass being made in such a quantity that it was more affordable for a different class of people, like myself. Men like me love amber glass. That person is an idiot.😂
You could use the old tried and true litmus test for choosing amber glass dinner plates. Would amber really showcase a weekly meatloaf and mashed potatoes meal? Or, does amber only coordinate well with Turkey/dressing, green beans, and cranberry sauce? If still undecided, then try visualizing spaghetti and meat sauce. I never liked reaching the roses patterns on melmac dishes when shoveling down a Kentucky fried chicken family meal, 2 sides and a biscuit. I even tried building bone trellises LOL.
I have a set of four amber Tierra glass bowls and a storage jar, the color and pattern look identical to the amber plates from what I can tell. I got mine in the late 1980's, new. Lol. Just sharing information.
😮I understand the poverty mind set about grey based colours which 1970's colours were...ignorance,poverty,dirt,neglect.Some amber glass can be grey based, plus it hid the dirt. Not the plates you picked up today.
The clip of that lady that you put at the beginning of the video always reminds me of my sister. I don't know why....She doesn't look anything like my sister. 🤪
A print of Lane to the sea was for sale on eBay for over $8,000, that was the print you passed up. Of course I am not saying you would get that sort of price but gee whiz
The print that I “passed up“ was a cheap mass produced cardboard piece of living room art that has about a value of 10 bucks in good condition. I’m not sure what you were looking at on eBay, someone is mistaken or out of their mind ❤
I hate to be the one to tell you, but, the 1970's were 45 to 50 years ago! Anchor-Hocking made Forest Green from around 1950 through 1965. Fun shopping trip, good video.
I would probably interpret that "amber reminds me of poverty" comment as maybe that person's family wasn't doing well in the 80s or 90s and they were using somebody's cast offs from a 70s kitchen. You remember, I know you do, that those 70s colors were all the way out of style in the 80s & 90s and the only people with an avocado or harvest gold anything were only doing so out of necessity. I hope you bought those amber sandwich plates, I could tell they grabbed onto you hard. Generally if you can't stop thinking about something you should get it. And I had to chuckle at you saying you like urban living and crossing the Schuylkill river. I might have grown up in your neck of the woods were it not for my staunch grandmother (Mother's mother). You see, my mother got in the family way with me when she was still a teenager (shocking!) and my grandmother had a sister who had married a man from Schuylkill Haven, PA and this Aunt tried everything she could to get my mother and grandmother to give me to her to raise. My grandfather wanted to do it, but my grandmother said over her dead body, and there I stayed in Georgia! 😂 she saved me from being raised a yankee and being from some place called Schuylkill Haven. You know I'm just kiddin' around with ya! This particular aunt wanted me so bad because she had undergone a botched "procedure" (if you know what I mean) that left her unable to have children. But that's just one of many family dramas. I am like you in that I can talk for hours about my family tree. Amazes me how people, even well into the 60s, thought you could give a baby away to be raised by somebody else like a puppy and all would be fine and dandy. I am very grateful I was raised right where I belong. Family is everything.
Great sale last night, Scott. The only reason I didn't bid on the restaurant ware was because I only need dinner plates. If you have them in a sale, I'm all in! ❤
Those amber plates would have been bought by me on your EBay store. I use amber at Thanksgiving with a mix of Denby off white dinner plates. It's a very pretty table.

The amber plate were beautiful. Surely someone would have bought it at your fall sale.
Loved watching this !!..its so much fun with you and Vinny!....❤
That bowl was Indiana Black Glass.😁
So much fun thrifting with a friend!

I love that song,"Does any body know what time it is,does any body care. The group Chicago.
I love finding old religious items especially from churches 😍

Oh my word "old hose"!! That was FUN.
@@mikki3961 it sure was!😂😆😂
Yes! Seeing the weekend again from a different perspective. That covered Fry Glass was a great score.
Thanks for several days of fun 😊 I was ready to laugh and love it when you guys get together ❤
I love the Amber plates!❤

If those "old hose" are silk, they would be worth some money.

Can’t believe you guys scored some old hose! 😂
I appreciate how both you and Vinney retain the humor of a 11 year old boy...Old Hose 😂❤❤
I do also enjoy your driving videos, showing us the street scenes. I have never been anywhere south of New York City. 😅
Looks like good fun! OMG that furry lamp was awful!
Watching the two of you, and seeing the city, was a pick-me-up!!!

The stamps were very cool.
The amber plates are nice, liquid gold
What a fun thrift store shopping. So glad you and Vinny were together. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day

The stamps were interesting
Hahaha those old hose lol😅😅😅
Amber glass reminds me of 1980s tiara glass parties in a trailer park.. or orange shag carpet.. so I understand where they are coming from.
Amber reminds me of poverty?? That is an interesting comment, indeed.
For me personally, just reminds me of the 70s.lol
Scott, I love how excited you get. You love what you do. Have you sold the framed Mother poem?
That will appear soon in my EBay store.
Mmmmmmm....Butterscotch Krimpets are the best!!
Oh I've read about Tastykake in the Stephanie Plum mysteries but I've never seen one! And yes, Capodimonte and Ironwood are ALWAYS broken.
👋👍🙌😎

The person probably meant that it reminds them of poverty because of amber Depression glass. It might make them think of the Depression.

The 7 Iris and Herringbone bowls I just seen, the Revive it Sisters thrifted them in their video dated July 15 ….they bought them.

Im surprised they put glasses in a bag dont they get damaged?
There's a Mantua near Kent State University in Ohio. We pronounce it "Man-u-way". Go figure.

As soon as you said those old hose I immediately giggled thinking “those old hoes” 😂😂🤣 and Vinny’s laugh, priceless 😂
Probably because of the depression era.
Weird comment about Amber! They must have owned some and been poor. I think it’s beautiful!
At least you had some rain…….we’re parched here!
It's pronounced "YOU-er." But henceforth, I will be pronouncing it "EW-er."
Amber don't remind me of poverty instead it's beautiful
I agree ❤
Me neither! Maybe back in the day they were poor that’s all they had to use so maybe that’s why that reminds them 😮
Women don't wear panty hose so much anymore.
LoL believe it or not Scott & Vinny, I belonged to a pantihose club. In the 80's, church women wore pantyhose so it was cheap. *HOES* LOL 😂
I love it. I love it.!
