These trays changed my life, the pruning effect of the slot really works, and they are much more convenient than soil blocks for me: the plants thrive and simply take off when they go in the ground.. They are tough enough to cycle seedlings through over and over--they hold up. Thanks for making them.
Loving how you guys are pumping out videos! Keep it up! Easily my favorite grower and content creators!
I have your 72 cell trays and love them, they still look as good as the day I received them.
Thank you Conor, great information!
Excellent overview of why and what with the winstrip trays. They are very well made indeed!
Great video
Thank you for that informative video. Will look into this I always start seedlings in the wrong size trays or pots.......😥
Great episode #Thanksforsharing
Hi I always enjoy your quality videos
Question is how these trays in comparison to soil blocks
It seems easy but how to handle with potting on situation if one starts with smaller cell tray to a bigger tray , as you know soil blocks fits perfectly from one size to another which is ideal as plant grows bigger
How you use these trays for example starting seeds like tomatoes and celery as they both have different germination time and growth which means you need more trays and more room and how to deal with growing plant in cells before they can be transplanted
Thanks
Are you going to come out with winzip trays for gardeners as well as market farmers?
What size tray would you suggest for mint and lavender? Those seeds are so tiny, not much bigger than grains of sand.
How do you water your trays from the top or the bottom?
Hi Conor. Thanks for the video. What size of trays do you suggest for beans as my last frost date is first or second week of May in central Turkey and I need to keep them inside until then. Also for cosmos and calendula flowers which trays do you think is the best?
Depends but Beans - winstrip 50 - those flowers winstrip 72 or 128
@@NeversinkFarm Thank you.
Hello Conor
Few questions for you
I know winstrip is your baby and main method of germination as compared to soil blocks.
It’s good that you have different sizes for different types of plants and yes key factor is not to let plants go root bond in each cell and my question is what will happen or I should say this winstrip trays works best if you can transplant the plants in time before the plant gets root bound in tray.I think these trays will work best if you have greenhouses or tunnels to transplant, but what will happen if you have to transplant outside and for any reason you can’t transplant in time will all your effort goes waste as plants will overgrown or lack of nutrients.
Have you tried soil blocks ( I am sure you might have).
Have you noticed any transplant shock or quality of plants suffering any issues either in terms of growth or easy or time it takes to take out while transplanting.
What is the damage percentage for transplanting using your trays compared to soil blocks.
I follow your every video very closely and I am very much impressed with your progress, approach to farming and overall success.
Good job, good luck and keep producing great quality content videos.
Thanks
I find soil blocks have too many issues. Blocks growing into each other / blocks drying out to easily. Winstrips air prune the seedling which prevents transplant shock and avoids the issues just mentioned.
@@NeversinkFarm thanks a lot very valuable advice and so precise
What size tray would you recommend as an all rounder, if you could only start with one size to begin with (small startup - 1/2 acre)?
72
can you please post the link to Winstrip trays recommendations for which size cells? thnx

Are you going to come out with smaller winzip trays for Gardners?
If you want smaller, I wonder if you could cut them down with a saw and maybe soften the raw edge with a heat gun.
They make smaller ones and sell them on their site.
I don’t understand why you don’t recommend bottom watering on your trays
ditto...
What crops do you direct sow? I don’t have the facilities to do the nursery.
kale, chard, collards
You can direct sow anything. You can get cloches or any clear plastic or glass containers of any kind to cover seedlings to extend your growing season. Plants that I only direct sow because they grow better that way are: peas, beans, corn, carrots, radishes, and any other root crops. You can also direct sow other sensitive crops using the "wall of water" method or cloches to extend your garden season earlier into the spring.
