My dad has stage 4 lung cancer, he is only 47 years old, and I'm really scarred... 😭 He's had his second Keytruda injection last week but we will only know the outcome after 4 injections. But can that treatment actually reduce the tumor(s)??? I've heard it can, but I'm not sure if that's true... It's amazing though how that man is still alive 6 years later 😍 It's really reassuring and motivating!
Hi Lily, I'm very sorry to hear about your dad and hope he'll be ok. Keytruda can very effectively reduce tumors when they present a certain biological behavior by keeping the immune system active against cancer cells. I wish you both all the best. No matter the outcome, cherish the time with your dad. Nobody can take that away from you.

Stabilization of disease--stopping tumors from growing or significantly slowing their growth--is one of the ways patients can respond to treatment with immunotherapy. While these patients continue to live with cancer, it poses no immediate danger. In fact, many patients live for many years in this state. Having that extra time living with a good quality of life not only gets patients to that next birthday, graduation, or grandchild's birth, but it also makes it possible that other treatments on the near horizon may provide more benefit to these patients.
