    Integrating chord arpeggios over the rhythm chord changes with our minor pentatonic licks is such a powerful tip, Joey and you demonstrate it beautifully. 👏

    What a valuable lesson. Thank you very much.
    I'm spending more than a year now just learning the notes on the fretboard and the triads at it seems to finally pay off.

    „Remembering the chord shapes all over the fretboard“ means: LEARN THE CAGED SYSTEM! That will be the game changer! After truely understanding it (and yes, that will need some time) all the rest like triads, arpeggios aso will be so easy!

    Good video! Focusing on chords keeps you in an already familiar position…
    And in the last few years, I’ve been a huge advocate of PHRASING!
    The language of musicians… ❤️
    Yes, fast playing is impressive to a point, but SAY SOMETHING.
    Let me know it’s YOU, & not everyone else. 🤘

    Nice playing, you don't think in intervals? You think in frets and strings?

    • @joeyjooones
      @joeyjooones  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      both, depending on what I'm doing. When teaching you guys, I'd rather talk frets to make it easy for everyone, seeing that a lot of players don't think in intervals.

    Learning 100 scales and modes isn't interesting.
    Yes, understanding the modes - as a principal - is useful. But you need to know what to do with that. Guys like Steve Vai or Joe Satriani have, on occasion, engaged in true modal playing. But their knowledge of modes isn't why their songs sound good. They learned to APPLY what they learned.

    You kinda do need scales actually. Not only for playing great solos, but also for understanding where those chord tones come from.

    You have just the smallest hint of a German accent as if you moved to America around the age of 12.

      Close! Never moved to the US but was introduced to the language very early. I jokingly call it being Germarican. 😅
