The fact that Reolink does not require a subscription to use all the features of the camera is why I buy Reolink over other brands (especially Wyze)
Thanks for watching!
As Eufy
Reolink is my fav camera security brand overall.
That and they have great after sales support
Except rich notifications on their doorbell
awesome review thank you!
Good review! Though you missed using the license plate at night which apparently the cx410 does really well with.
Thank you so much my man…I bought two cameras and the nvr…you sold this product -kudos. Seems like you like the cx410 and hope I’m going to be just as happy… I am a subscriber…thank you again.😊
How have u found it so far??
Absolutely awesome camera. You made my day with this video. I will be replacing my Arlo front door camera with bad boy. With this and the Trackmix POE my whole front yard will be covered. Thank you.
Cool…thanks for watching!
Good comprehensive review. I just bought a 510WA Im quite impressed. I like the deterrance effect of the glowing IR lamp but the colour mode would greatly help police to identify an offender by clothing atleast. It also has FTP so ill be setting one of those up.
Awesome!! Great review and I think the night vision footage is very good👏
@user-rd9kb6ox1v...Thanks for watching!
Excellent review
That night time quality is insane
I wish Reolink would provide meaningful updates about release dates in Canada.
Whenever I ask about a product release here, I am met with "Keep an eye out on our website for the latest updates on our upcoming releases!!", which was last updated in... August 2022.
Way to go, Reolink.
Their lack of product release updates outside the US aside, thank goodness for channels like yours that allow the world to know that Reolink exists!
The 520A's and 822A's I have in my back and front yards have been fantastic and without issues, even when we hit -30C a few times last winter.
So I look forward to installing 2 of these on the back of my garage, and 2 for the sides of my house to cover the darkest areas around my home.
Thanks again for your great coverage and thorough testing!
Hoping that they will streamline their process worldwide pretty soon. Thanks for watching!
Still waiting for them to release in the UK
Thank you.
I'm glad that you covered the fact the LED brightness can be turned down, because at full brightness it's arguably detrimental to helping recognise the intruder (in the context tested, anyway).
Pretty good. Thanks. 👍
Thanks for watching!
You are a Reolink expert. You should do personalized Reolink support and charge for it. I would pay for that!
It's a nice camera with low light capability. Even if you don't have a PoE compatible router you can still power it via the dc port. It's a shame that Cloud recording is not available for this camera though. That would be a nice addition.
Nice review as always. 👌😁
again a great video. Thank you! Greetings from Germany
Thanks for watching.
@@LifeHackster Always watching your videos. You are one of the reasons I have several Reolink Cameras around my house now.
It also better when the smart mode is on at highest setting. I noticed this issue on all the reolink camera review u have done.
Thankyou for the camera review.
The Reolink ColorX line seems like a step in the correct direction.
I may try the CX410 and other ColorX models as they roll-out.
The CX410 meets many requirements I've been looking for in a camera (based on specs):
Full color night vision without ir lights; yes.
Better than 1080p res; yes. (2k/4mp?, would like 4k+).
Human usable spotlight of 3400k to 3700k (3000k acceptable); yes.
Dimmable spotlight; yes. (Timers for spotlight; yes).
POE capable; yes. (Also has 12v barrel plug, very good).
On board sd card local recording (always required); yes.
Can record local to nvr (nice); yes. (.. 'yells in annoyment at battery versions' ..).
Has at least 20 to 30 frames per second at night; yes.
Has a field of view of at least 120 degrees to 180 degrees; no.
(89 seems almost not good, like its a compromise of wide and zoom).
(They could do model splits, ie CX410z(zoom 50 fov) and CX410w(wide 130 fov).
Lens appears correctly focused from the factory; no (based on what is seen from the video clips).
(I don't know if this is a problem of factory manufacturer elevation/altitude temperature humidity or calibration devices or glue pulling/pushing when curing/dry, but it does seem that many brands of cameras have the issue of being slightly out of focus or blurry at a distance (IRL testing of some models, and looking at fhd video from youtube reviews)).
At 89 degrees fov that licence plate should be crystal clear in the short distance of 40 feet.
Thankyou again LifeHackster for your review.
And Thankyou Reolink for finally a POE color night vision camera, and the start of the ColorX line.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Thanks for watching!
Hey do these have zoom capabilities ?
Excellent tutorial
Pre ordering this sucker for sure.
So I just realized that you cant just have the spotlight on at night all the time and you'll get the best of both worlds. no ghosting of image (I saw you look a little See-through there with just the color x on lol) because its sending out light and its low light sensor is picking up as much as possible for the best color night shot. For first-generation consumer Low light color cameras. This is very promising.
@PatrickCalderaz...Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
Thank you!
It's nice that it has warm led's
It sounds like Reolink are going to release a 4k CX810 version of this camera within the next month or so. Can't wait. 👌😁
Will that be better than this one?
People should take lessons from your videos on how to review just products in general. I've been looking into other brands but this camera is crazy good and the price is crazy good! I'm about to start researching reolink now.
@CraigFromTheLand, Thank you. I appreciate it
Hi, I really enjoy your content. I just bought some of the cx410 as a result. I was curious if you have tried the RLC-833A and compared to the CX410? I can’t find much content on the RLC-833A online
Almost perfect. Have they added rich notifications yet?
Awesome video , finally got my cx410 !!! How did you make the lights only come on when motion is triggered? I have dim lights with no motion and brIght light when motion is triggered.
Thanks for the good videos. I need to replace an old system in my business and I'm seriously considering Reolink, but I'm in between the CX410 and the RLC-811A. I need them for a Bar, it's low light there and the housing needs to be black. If the CX410 is my best option I don't mind spraying them black, but if is not gonna be such a dramatic difference I'd rather go with the 811A instead. What you think?
wish there was a 4k option as well. Also wished reolinks cameras played nicely with apple homekit without have to go the long away around to get them to work. scrypted, etc.
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your excellent reviews. My house is 100 years old. There is an electric lantern light over the front door. Would I be able to tie into that wiring to install this camera? And am I right that it needs to also be plugged into the router? I really like this unit but that would be a major undertaking. If I were to have it professionally installed, what is the average cost for that?
Wow! that is awesome but its only available in POE. Now I wait for the wifi version that plugs in electric outlet.
@LifeHackster - based on your history and Reolink's typical product releases - would you expect a 4k version this year? I'm looking to install cameras this year, but can wait a little bit, if it's worth it? Or are 2k good enough?
Hello, I've been watching your reviews, wanted to say thank you - A question if you have a moment - Can you mount this Reolink CX410 indoors in a window mount and still have it perform reliably? Because it has no IR sensor it seems like it should. We live where the temperature can exceed -40 in the winter and want to be sure (outdoors isnt an option for cold climate cameras it seems). Thank you
Hello, I’m new to your channel, but I’m very impressed with the video content that I’ve seen so far…especially the CX 410. Since sending this msg, has the 4K come out yet? If not I’d like to purchase this one you’ve demonstrated. Thank you for excellent content.
@smartypantsify...No 4K yet..Thanks for watching!
would be nice once matter supports cameras so it can be used with apple HomeKit or Samsung Smart Things and adding to one ecosystem adds to all. Or if it already has Home Assistant integration for DIYers.
thks ... better this camera or 12mp RLC-1212A in image and frame???
Does it work with Synology survilliance station? Are there any limitations like reduced resolution if so?
I have a question for you. i can connect an nvr in an apartment complex. there are 10 buildings. Could you put 10 poe switches one per building and connect them to this nvr? I would carry the signal to each building with an antenna.
I like Reolink but like a wide Field of view than some of there cameras. Thanks for the video.
@RetiredRich...Thanks for watching!
@Lifehackster
I think I have not seen this question being asked before.
How does the Reolink CX410 compare to the EzViz C3X? (They are priced similarly in my country)
Thanks
How are the night times ghosting issues with their 12mp cameras? Better than the 5 & 8mp?
Any suggestions on camera options for not having wifi. I've had issues at my camp with people stealing items and I wanted a camera solution, any thoughts?
How exactly to you position the camera once mounted? I don't see a locking bolt, screw on the shaft pivotal joint? My old camera like this had one. I need to point it down about 25 degrees from the horizontal.
I like Reolinks mounting process, very easy. Does not appear this compares to the NC800, but Reolink is getting better.
NC800?
@@YukonHawk1 Annke NC800 is an 8mp cam they are referring to.
@@gwaeron8630 thank you
Reolink needs to add rich push notifications with thumbnails and motion/event tagging in playback. Then it would be 🔥
any idea when they are releasing the 810? Also, any new doorbell coming? I don't like the field of view of the current one
How would you compare these cameras to the Lorex 4K Nocturnal Security system? Trying to decide between the 2.
Wat is the settings u have on these cameras I just got mine aswell would like mine set up like yours yours looks a bit better I got the wifi version it looks a bit grainy
Can be used with Blue Iris? I recall some model it's problematic?
Is it possible to:
- Automaticly trigger a custom siren when a person enters a defined area? And when pressed the siren button in the app, to trigger the default siren sound?
- Get a push message only if a person enters a defined area and still let the camera record when motion is triggered anywhere in the picture?
The camera is in a public area and needs to scare intruders away if they enter my place.
Thank you for another EXCELLENT review. When also used with the NVR (or Reolink Client on a Mac) that is recording 24/7 can I view the recorded events from my office via computer browser? All the things I read imply that only the LIVE image is available.
You can, of course
Like the CX410, having poor results with my swann NVR 5850 cams at night... would the CX410 work with my swann system...
After firmware update does your cx410 light stay on now? Should make a updated video on this please
You should try the app with a foldable like the z fold see what it looks like as the image is quite small in portrait especially. And compare wifi load speed vs LTE or 5g when you're not at home.
Dang that’s a bit too much you want covered. Data coverage and speeds vary so much (device density, distance from tower, environment variables, etc) I think he gives a very good overview of what to expect as a home user.
this is really good. I have seen your previous videos for indoor cameras on windows. what do you think of thermal cameras for the same task??
Thermal cameras only show heat..you will not be able to identify anyone just by their heat signature.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for your insights. I have one more question, is the software for the cameras open source??
Which loads faster on wifi through app this or 12mp camera, if any difference?
My cx410 cameras don’t give me the spotlight smart options. Do I need to update the camera or nvr?
Hi, great video, I always see yours videos. Please can you tell me what is better or do a video comparing eufy S220 and blurams. Thank you
Definitely this one..rule of thumb for security cameras…plug in is better than battery powered; IP/PoE is better than WiFi; and low light cam is better than regular sensor.
@@LifeHackster thank you so much but I need one between eufy s220 and blurams. Could you let me know please.
Reolink has announced the cx810 the 4k version, looking forward to seeing you review
Do you know how i can add this camera to my synology server?
I would like to know what type of micro SD card I should choose for Reolink CX410 Security Camera? A1 or A2? U1 or U3? C6 or C10? V10 or V30? Thank you for your quick response.
just one question, the name tag in the left is always there?
How does this compare to TP-Link Tapo C325?
HELP NEEDED!!! Just installed thEse cameras (8) I noticed the back porch the 2 rear left and right and side right camera spotlight is always on or cutting on (detection is set camera off) and off the cameras are in the darkest areas around my home. I followed your settings but these 4 cameras spotlight doesn't turn off at night time why is that???? PLEASE HELP!!!
Can you do some Lorex wired security cameras for review!
Of course this camera is sold out on the site and Amazon..would you have a recommendation for a runner up with the view color during night time?
any info yet on stock? trying to order in Australia@@merluzo8269
I notice sometimes the video takes awhile to load, seems to be the case even with PoE. I had to lower my resolution and frame rate to see if maybe it loads faster. And sometimes the video will even freeze entirely. Maybe with an PoE NVR and a monitor that is attached and showing live view all the time it's a little better.
It is the connection to your phone...Reolink tends to limit the compression that they use on their footage (higher quality) but also a lot of data compared to other brands. I usually leave the streaming to low or fluent or mid. The recordings will always still be in full resolution..
Another great video, thank you. Did you ever get a chance to compare "PLE" (PowerLine) install of these types of PoE Cameras?
@Nietzscheable...I haven't yet make a video about that...but hopefully, soon. Thanks for watching!
Do you or anyone know if these work with older NVRs?
What about the Reolink RLC-410 5MP?
In your opinion, what is the overall best outdoor security system. whats the next best above reolink? are you still satisfied with the reolink CX410
Thank you for the video. I especially want to use the human recognition to alert me at night of intruders. Can either the mobile app or the NVR be set that the push notification on the mobile app gives an alarm/siren sound to distinguish it from other notifications?
Just for general info. I have downloaded the Reolink app and although it does not have an alarm/siren sound, it has 5 notification sounds, one of which is distinct and loud enough for my purpose.
Excellent reviews! Please, can you suggest a reolink solar camera that can "see in the night" as this one?
Currently, there is no battery/solar powered Reolink cam that has this sensor.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for the reply. And for the in-depth reviews ...
I am mulling over the idea of getting reolink system with an NVR. I have concerns especially about one individual who if appears around my house I am required to call the police for.
There are a lot of people passing by the area. Without a face recognition feature I have to review all the footage. The likes of Google Nest system is a hit and miss for face recognition especially if a bit at a distance. However, I would think I would benefit from having face recognition.
So here comes the question, is it possible to quickly jump from alert to another either on the app or on the web interface? Let’s say to have some sort of screen shots of people to scroll through?
This camera doesn't come in a bundle, and Reolink has SO MANY Options, and the bundles don't have the same model numbers as the individual cameras. What bundle do you recommend that comes with at least 4 cameras. I need them to be good for detecting movement, and recording at 4k high quality. I will buy this camera seperate, one for the front yard and one for the back yard. The other cameras will be separate for the side of the house and for front and back of the house.
Great video as usual ! I'm planning on connecting this camera via an injector into a WiFi range extender, have you ever tried this ?
You might be able to do it but you might experience intermittent some signal loss but it depends on the signal of your extender.
@@LifeHackster thankyou !
Nice 👌
Thanks for watching!
Your The best i always enyoi your video’s My friend 😉✋🫵
Thank you fir the video :) i didnt get one thing. Is this camera battery powered? If its not hardwired? I am looking for hard wired one. I have eufy doorbell and thought of eufy products but they dont have any hardwired.
This is wired… using an Ethernet cable (PoE)
Any good or bad things for using the sd card vs the nvr? Do you lose any features with one or the other? How do you choose the proper nvr?
I prefer NVR because it is going to be inside your house and be protected but the best setup would be to setup the camera by itself so you will have SD card recording and then add it to the Reolink NVR so that you will a backup just in case. Proper NVR would be the Reolink NVR.
You lose the Timelapse feature if you plug into NVR. There may be other features as well, but Timelapse is definitely one of them.
Good evening, I'm from Indonesia. What are the recommendations for Reolink CCTV IP Cam products for out doors, wide cameras, and motion detection?
They have a lot of models to choose from. Just go to their website.
I hope they make a model with the Sony Starvis 2 sensor inside.
Would you make a longer video on why you choose to have multiple systems and multiple cameras covering one area
It's all about redundancy. If one camera stops working you still have a backup.

From saudi 👍
New to Reolink, and I have a question. If I want to order these do I have to order them one by one or do they have a bundle? Second question, does it come with ethernet cable or do I need to buy my own cable? Do I need a small monitor for the NVR or can I just use the NVR for recording and my phone to watch everything?
You will need a monitor or TV for the initial setup of the NVR. But after setup is complete you can disconnect the monitor or TV and view the cameras and change settings via the app.
Reolink do offer bundles. You can usually get 4 cameras and an 8ch NVR or 8 cameras and a 16ch NVR. But you could just buy the NVR and cameras separately if you want to use different model cameras around your home. The bundle kits do come with enough ethernet cables for each camera. However it's not the best quality cable so I would recommend using your own CAT5e or CAT6 cable anyway. Amazon stock a wide range of Reolink products.
@@ACAIDC thanks for the reply I appreciate it.
Thank you
@ACAIDC for replying.
May I know is the NVRs can be connected from a switch ? So the connect would be modem>router>switch>NVRS
Short answer, Yes. Watch this video too for the ultimate setup -> th-cam.com/video/w3XFERI3w3Q/w-d-xo.html
Thanks so much for your quick response. Very helpful.
Great camera, wish their app we better
Do you have a link with these cameras in a package of 8 with 8 channel nvr package?
Reolink don’t sell these in packages sadly
Can you let us know what nvr system model your using?
I have been using Reolinks 8 channel one.
I like their cameras but it is awful that their default mounts don’t support standard box screw locations.
I'm British what does this mean M8?
The nvrs still dont suppport 3k resolution so having to run 4k cameras at 1080p sucks. Still waiting on a update.
Would you say this is an overall better camera than the Tapo C325WB Color PRO? I feel like this Reolink is a little too grainy at night.
It is a bit grainy but clarity is still pretty good... I'm not sure which one is better until I test it side by side. The Tapo is also plastic built and more expensive but has wider FOV.
@@LifeHackster Please consider the Wyze V3 / V3 Pro in such a video!
Is there a Reolink Dome Camera that you recommend and have reviewed?
They have new ones that I haven't checked out yet. They usually release bullet versions of these cameras first.
can you recommend outdoor security camera that recording more than 180 degree other than reolink duo 2? high quality clear camera and sound for police report as criminal evidence?
Check out my Wyze Floodlight PRO Review.. Clarity suffers when your FOV gets wider.
@@LifeHackster thanks my bro
Can you do a video on just the best of the best hikvision?
Hikvision is 3 times more expensive…so I’m not sure if it will be in the “best” list.
CX410W wifi version ??
Is there a dome version of this camera with the same specifications?
Not yet but they should be releasing one hopefully…
Can this be powered from a DC power charge (instead of poe) ?
Yes, 12 volts DC.
I now have the wireless video doorbell, and a CX410 (CX410 connected to network with 12v power supply to camera, not direct to NVR) and a NVR RLN8-410. Although the CX410 shows up as added to the Reolink app and I can view and record to the SD card, it is not seen/listed under the NVR, unlike the video doorbell. So it looks like I can't record to the NVR from the CX410. Maybe I missed some step?
You have to add it using the NVRs interface. Go to channels settings and add it to an empty channel or replace an existing camera from there.
@@LifeHackster Brilliant, you nailed it! Thank you so much. I just assumed you could do it via the app.
Hi, love your videos. I am ready to install a security camera system in my house and yards. Which camera system do you represent. I don't want anything to do w subscription. I want a car license recognizable camera and w good night vision. I would love your detail response. Thanks in advance. New subscriber here:)
Reolink would be a choice. As to license plate reading, there are a lot of factors involved like distance, angle of the camera, moving or parked cars, reflection glare that you need to consider if you just use a regular security camera. If the only purpose is to read plates, then you can check out LPR (License Plate Recognition) cameras which are expensive, too dark and too zoomed in to be a regular security camera...but it will read plates and also with its software will save it for you to review.
