    Reolink has the the worst customer support, they will engage with you as long as they can convince you that their product has no fault, but the moment it becomes clearer that the product is actually faulty & needs repair or replacement the Reolink support disappears in thin air.

    your welcome LH. this new cx810 was worth the wait. right now I'm doing a quick setup comparison test with my cx810 on the 2nd floor window sill facing my driveway and street in a similar viewing position as my 810a. it looks weird from outside with a camera on my window but its easier than having to get the extension ladder and swap cameras high up constantly. I have a few other places with no ambient light in the backyard I also want to try before replacing the 810a. 1 day so far its looking good with the new cx810. with hdr on shadows are not as dark compared to 810a.

      Considering how confusing their website is, I think everyone could benefit from a comparison. I had no idea what I was looking at when shopping their store, so I didn't buy anything. I ended up with a Eufy, which I quickly boxed back up and returned because the audio was worse than my gen 1 Wyze cam.

    Great review! The ghosting issue at night is really bad on the CX810. It sounds like the garbled audio issue may have been fixed. As a current owner of (6) CX410 cameras, I don't see much of a difference going from 2K to 4K resolution to justify the upgrade. If any of my CX410 cameras fail, I would upgrade to the CX810.
    The HDR feature is available on the CX410, but when I turn it on, I get interlace bands scrolling so I keep it off.
    I also noticed that Reolink added the Device Notification Ringtones to the CX410 but it only allows selection based on Urgent, Important, and General. It doesn't allow you to choose ringtone sounds. It would be nice if they can update the CX410 to allow sounds so I can tell which camera are alerting without looking at the camera in the app.
    IMO, Reolink does an excellent job at improving their products and software without charging for a subscription.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think there is a difference on no spotlight footage between the CX410 and CX810.. I have to compare this side by side soon...but I know a lot of people are complaining about ghosting but it is just because there is not enough light.. in real life use, you would set this to auto or smart mode where the built in spotlights will provide supplemental lighting.

      @QH96 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LifeHackster a comparison video between the cx410 and cx810 would be a good idea. The cx410 seems to have better low light performance because reolink didn't increase the sensor size on the cx810, which means it has smaller and less sensitive pixels. Sensor size should have been increased from 1/1.8 to 1/1.2.

    In all of your night time testing, have you ever run a test comparing your images with your neighbors lights shining and not shining over the fence? I wonder if those lights shining directly into the cameras does not somehow effect the exposure? Perhaps some of the cameras compensate by reducing the exposure? A back to back test with their lights on verses off would be interesting .
    Excellent reviews.

    I've had several different Reolink cameras. I wouldn't buy another. I was really happy with them..... at first. The trouble is they don't last. My Argus 2 lasted just over a year before the replaceable battery died. But, they don't sell a replacement. The battery in my Argus 3 died. That's an inbuilt battery so the whole camera is dead. I've also got an indoor Reolink PTZ camera. It's a couple of years old and the microphone has stopped working.
    Their cameras are great out of the box. They just don't last.

I do have to show this in the review. with no spotlights ON..but in real life use case, in my backyard setup, I need to set it in Auto or Smart mode so that the spotlights are ON but just enough to provide some lighting and minimizing ghosting.

      @@LifeHackster Would be good if you can get some technical video folks from one of these companies on to talk about why that happens. I suspect it is because of how they work, only updating pixels that they see move meaning they don't see the entirety of the moving object on every pixel meaning they previous and current image are mixed together, but that is just a guess. If the guess is accurate though, I'd like to know why they don't have an algorithm that looks at the outside edge of the moving thing and assume everything with in it must be moving and so don't leave any old pixels within that border.

    @MintyElder 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I am kind of disappointed in the CX410 and CX810. You really need a decent amount of lighting in the recorded area unless you want a really dark and grainy image. They advertise it as needing no light and a lot of owners try to say the same thing and this is not the case. I understand yes I can leave the spotlights on but you could do that with any other camera as well, plus I know I am not the only one that does want nearly a dozen camera spotlights running all night long.

    • @VastardokKukiao
      @VastardokKukiao 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      any color night vision camera requires some light to function properly. With that being said, I feel this one is a step back. Hikvision definitely is much better than this.

    • @MintyElder
      @MintyElder 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is not how they are advertised and how everyone tries to make out online. If you do not have significant lighting, more than just a street, within 50ft then you will end up with a really dark and grainy image.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the CX series, you don't need a lot or too bright of spotlights to get better image at night. All other regular sensor cameras of Reolink that have built in spotlights, except for the 823A, you will get ghosting beyond 20 feet.... check this video out -> th-cam.com/video/4JEatkWI4Ms/w-d-xo.html

    • @MintyElder
      @MintyElder 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've watched that before but it proves my point that CX cameras need more light then what everyone seems to suggest. I have Wyze floodlights that make the CX410s look good at only 25% brightness when they are activated. I also have some solar lights to help supplement light. To my original point though, the quality of these without stuff like that is never mentioned anywhere. This is straight from Reolink "ColorX Night Vision: True full-color night vision in low light without spotlights", that is very misleading in my opinion. Don't get me wrong overall I like my Reolink system but the CX cameras are misleading. I have 10 Reolink and 10 Wyze cameras, they both have their perks and disadvantages which is why I like to have different brands and the poe/wifi part as well.

This is just to show..but In real life setup, you will set it to auto or smart mode….which the lights will be lit just enough to have better quality footage. Just see how dark it is in my backyard…any other camera will just be black and low light cams will have ghosting and motion blur.

    Ugh, I was hoping the audio quality would be better. I just can't switch from my gen 1 Nest cams until someone actually cares as much about audio as they do video. Seriously, how do you not make a mic that accounts for wind? These camera companies are all completely useless for audio.

    • @PotatosPotatoes

    I've just took delivery of a CX810 as I'm looking to upgrade my my old Hikvision mini bullets to move from IRCut to colour. I'd heard nothing good about REOLINK cameras except from paid shills and VINE reviewers. My own first Impressions of this camera are not favourable, I don't know what the fuss is with this camera it performs WORSE than my 7 year old Hikvision cams. Stuttering and frame skipping are an absolute joke, as are the lack of settings available, no H264 support (so don't even think about using frigate), the web interface has no fine tuning of anything, I was actually shocked at how basic this camera is for the amount it costs. I'll be returning it with haste, and would not recommend it.

    Forget about the horrible image quality at night.. even the image quality in the day on this camera SUCKS!!! Fake HDR that just artificially cheats by lowering the contrast which any cam. can do. The picture quality is muddy, blurry, blown out highs and crushed shadows and has halos. It looks like a low quality CMOS web camera from 15 years ago. The older E1 Pro indoor with the 1/1.27" 2K sensor looks vastly superior to the CX810's sensor.
