    Great job dude, I have never had the stones to rebuild one yet so way to go. 👍

    Mine years ago would upshift at 12 mph, even if you manually shifted into low. One of the openings where one of the spools in the valve body was rough, sanded it a little bit and shifts like it should. Hope that makes sense.

      Yeah it made sense, I could definitely tell the difference in shift points after my rebuild!

    Since you are in there replace the clutches. I rebuilt a regular PG and that is de riguer. Also, you can empty the converter and try to clean it out as the sediment is also in it. Glad to see it running again!

    Oh friend.
    But why didn't you show the assembly of the multiple disks? And the assembly of the planetariums? I missed the opportunity to make a 3rd video, with mechanical details!

    • @benbencorvair9071
      @benbencorvair9071  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah did miss an opportunity for more in depth showing, planetary gears did not get rebuilt.

    Wow I don’t think I’d have the courage to dig that deep into that. Looks like rear seat work now? Looking forward to that.

      I was actually replacing some seals on the differential that I should have done when the engine was out.

    I fear the transmission! Good job. I Im getting ready to dig into the Differential and manual trans for the same job and I have never done it before so guess I will film it from a newbie DIY point of view.. Cheers!

    Hello Ben. Well done, congratulations. One question, the converter was ok? Greetings from Germany.

      The torque converter? All did to the torque converter was replace a metal bushing in it.

    Old timer Chevy tech here with lots of Corvair experience, Nice work on dropping the entire powertrain. That is the proper way and great job on the trans rebuild! Did you replace the torque converter?

      @@izzydizzy1115 Thank you! I wish a had a better rig to drop it but I made it work. I reused my torque converter.. should I have replaced it??

      @@benbencorvair9071 Yes you should have since it's almost impossible to clean all the gunk out of the old converters. It might be wise to do a few transmission fluid exchanges going forward, just in case the new fluid gets contaminated. I enjoy your videos. Brings back a lot of good memories! Not all Chevy mechanics from that time period liked working on Corvairs. I personally did and owned several of them.
