UPDATE as of 7/25/24 The game has updated once again. The depot code here is to downgrade for the most recent MODDABLE version of the game 1.21 this is still a REQUIREMENT to play mods.

Q:My XVINS won’t start and is giving me (insert message), How do I fix it?
A: Boot up your Xenoverse 2 title screen at the bottom right corner it will say your version and patcher version. As of now you need to be on version 1.21, patcher 4.2. If it’s not that version you either didn’t finish downgrading or you installed the patcher wrong.
Q: My Xenoverse won’t open at all!
A: Always boot up Xenoverse from the bin NEVER from steam. If that doesn’t work you check the steam console tab where you downloaded the depot if it didn’t say "DOWNLOAD COMPLETE" when you opened the depot file you have to redownload it again.
Q: It’s telling me to verify the integrity of the game files?
A: Something likely messed your game up at some point. Reupdate Xenoverse and verify the integrity of the game files (see 2:06 on how to do that.) then try copy and pasting the depot again.
Q: How long does the depot download take?
A: Depends on your download speed as you are basically reinstalling the game.
Q: My Xenoverse installer won’t open!
A: This is a downgrade tutorial not a patcher tutorial but it means you have the patcher installed wrong. Your game HAS TO SAY PATCHER AT THE TITLE SCREEN FOR YOU TO BEGIN MODDING!

Had to subscribe and like thanks for the video after all. Soon as the game updated again with no enternity tools I knew I had to downgrade
if you see the error all you have to do is delete one thing from your game. and thats the .ini thing that you paste from the modding software and it should work. thats all i had to do

I checking game file integrity and i still keep getting this error:
Depot download failed : error writing chunk for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_454650\depot_454651\cpk\data.cpk"
It might’ve not finished downloading all the way. Delete the app_454650 folder, verify the game files and try the downgrade code again.
does downloading the old version from depot take a while? cause i only see the bin and cpk folder
Depends on how long it takes for you to typically download a game. Also don’t open the folder until it says depot complete it may stop the download process
I did all of this but whan i open bin the other dxv2 luncher aint there what do i do?

when i write the numbers it shows me downloading depot 464651 (22840 MB) and then nothing happens

How can you change the download directory of the depot because my main machine is running low on space and I keep the game on a different bigger drive
I’m not sure since the depot will download wherever your steam is.
Maybe try changing where your steam is located. Or just making space for this specifically.
thanks for the tutorial, I have one problem: when i try to open xv2ins from the xv2 directory, it says the following:"cannot open "bin/xinput1_3.dll in game directory" even if it is in the bin folder, then when I click ok, a popup displays "this program beeds xv2 patcher to be installed" even if I have the last xv2 patcher, and the last versions of the eternity tools. I've also downgraded to the same version in the video. what should I do? thank you
You probably didn’t install the patcher correctly. Just copy and paste everything in the patcher 4.23 folder into the db xenoverse 2 folder.

I downgraded copy pasted everything installed the patcher and everything correctly i think, however when i try to start the game i get a black screen no error and game closes again. any advice? ( i never modded Xeonverse games before and hitting a wall with it currently) Mods i installed where just New Transformations (Added Skills) and a mod that allows to get all PQ rewards everytime to get rid of grinding.
Try uninstalling the pq mod
If I wanted to play online again and what-not without MODS would I open regular Xenoverse 2 from Steam?
I go into this in the second half but basically you’re just going to install xenoverse 2 again, with this you’re going to need enough storage for another Xenoverse 2.
1. Change the name of the Xenoverse 2 directory (it could be anything but I just call it Xenoverse 2 modded)
2. Copy your save file and paste it into a safe folder ( I just call mine old version backup.)
3. reinstall xenoverse 2 or update it from steam, if you change the name of your modded directory it won’t effect your mods just be sure when you’re using installers that you’re using the right directory.
4. Once you update your going to want to keep your new save file and switch to the old one whenever you play the modded version or the new save if you’re playing on the current version.
I have a mistake when during the game a dialogue begins with the character who is responsible for the cross-fight, then after the words "we will bring you up to date" nothing happens, I can't do anything(
Ah that happens sometimes 😅
Go into your bin folder and take the Xinput file out.
Mods will be disabled for a bit (that’s normal) then load that part up again and it should let you through.
Do this with any other character you have so you don’t have to do it again.
Once you’re done add the xinput back to the bin and all your mods will go back to normal and you’ll be past that part.

I'm able to mod DBXV2 thanks to your video with the xv2ins but I'm having issues installing some mods that are xml format. The installer only puts in x2m files and doesn't recognize xml files. Do you guys know how to install xml mod files or convert them to x2m?
So XMLs are typically just to open up entries. X2Ms don’t require installers (unless the modder says so) so you should only need to download the x2m
If you’re editing a xml file you might need to use a tool called the xml serializer to make it a file readable by xeno.
@@TheHomiErikModding I have downloaded the mods just for the x2m files and I'm able to add them into the xv2ins no problem. For some reason the couple of mods I've downloaded, had the file show up being only named "x2m" but being labeled as a "Microsoft Edge HTML Document" and others being their respective name such as "Name of character or outfit" being labeled as an X2M file. I'm just not sure what to do with the XML files or how to put them in.

Typically it’s either a storage issue or WiFi issues
Dude it says it failed to load save data, and if I want to delete existing save data and create a new one, I made a back up of my save before doing this so I guess that one is ok but I don't know what to do now
If you already played on the new version your save data won’t work.
I’d recommend just getting a new save loaded then getting everything back with the save editor, and use your old save whenever you want to play the new version.

@@emmanuelrocha5110 I mean you can still do both. Losing a save is just a 30 minute inconvenience since you need to remake all your cacs but you should still have all your mods installed.
Haven't done it yet but got 2 questions ,
1. if someone also downgrade the game can we play together on that version
2. which versions can I downgrade to?
1. Yes but you both need to manually set it up in the patcher and make sure you install the same mods (for ease of use)
2. The version is shown in the video but as of now you should be playing on 1.21.2 if you want mods to work.
3. If you’re new to modding you should know that it’s difficult to get the xenoverse 2 patcher and modding tools right now so unless you already have them there’s no point in downgrading rn.

Either you don’t have enough storage to complete the download or it’s just taking a long time.
Though as long as it didn’t say download failed it should still be trying to install it.

Either you didn’t put the code in right or you have to verify the game files

As long as it doesn’t say it failed just wait. Don’t open the depot folder while it’s downloading or else you have to do it again.

If you played on the new version your save then it won’t work on the old version sadly. I’d recommend just using the save editor to boost your progress back up.
what if it says Recording disconnected playtime (1) what 2 do then?
I think that has something to do with your steam time not being tracked.

@@hurricaneslayer-ni9ebif it doesn’t boot up from the bin folder then you’re gonna have to update and then reinstall the downgrade.
So delete whatever is in your depot folder already then just follow this part of the video 2:04 then try to do the download again.
I’ve heard that people have issues when they check the depot folder before everything is ready so maybe that’s why all the files didn’t install.

2. Ve a tu directorio actual de Xenoverse 2 y cámbiale el nombre de "DB XENOVERSE 2" a cualquier otra cosa.
3. Abre tu instalador de Xenoverse 2 y cambia el directorio al que acabas de renombrar.
4. Reinstala el juego a través de Steam. Deberías poder seguir jugando con mods mientras se descarga, así sabrás que todo está correcto.
También asegúrate de tener suficiente espacio de almacenamiento, porque básicamente estarás usando dos versiones de Xenoverse 2 a la vez. Una vez que crees los nuevos datos guardados, no podrás volver atrás.
Así que antes de iniciar tu versión con mods, cambia tus datos guardados a los antiguos y haz una copia de seguridad de tus nuevos datos guardados para usarlos cuando juegues la versión actual.

When I try to open the xv2 file through bin it says to verify integrity of game cache and I did that but it still gave me the same message, I feel dumb for potentially messing up, but do you have any possible answers to this?
You probably have to update then downgrade again. Once you update go to your xenoverse 2 steam settings and verify the integrity of the game files. If you still have your depot folder you don’t have to redownload the downgraded xenoverse.
If that doesn’t work it could be how you downloaded the depot, if it doesn’t say download complete or you opened the depot folder before it finished all the way you probably have to redownload that again.

Yeah the patcher is sadly very hard to obtain atm unless you know someone who has the outdated tools.

Try moving xinput8 to a separate folder I don’t think it’s needed in the bin.

If the depot completely downloaded you don’t have to do that again just re update your game, verify the files and copy and paste the depot again.

I keep getting an error once I click start game that says "some of the files may be missing or corrupted PLEASE VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES", any idea how to fix this? (I made a backup of updated xeno as you suggested which works perfectly fine and when i tried verifying, it obviously updated the game to the latest version)

EDIT: Alright just tried something a bit annoying to do but I got it to work, so, once you download the depot, either replace your base game files or do what i did and copy over the "CARROT_TEMPORARY" to the bin folder of you're modded xenoverse directory.
This part may be unnecessary but I did it and it worked but it may be a bit confusing, I copied the base game's "cpk" folder into my modded version, and then once that finished, I re-copied the depot's "cpk" folder back into the modded version, hope that helps

When you tried starting the game again did you do it from inside your Bin or on the steam page? Opening it on steam will just update the game again.

It might not have finished downloading all the way. You have to update the game again, Verify the integrity of the game files, Delete the folder where the depot was downloaded, Then download it again and make sure the download completes before you open the depot folder.

Yeah I've given up downgrading and started playing Dokkan and Legends. I've tried literally every single thing to downgrade XV2 cause of how long the patcher's taking to update and nothing worked. I've tried at this point for over 2 months and it never works. Of course that's my life though; It works for everyone else but not for me. Reset steam, then verify the integrity of your game files and try again. Make sure you have enough storage to download it too.

Either you didn’t install the patcher properly or you didn’t downgrade properly.
Boot up your xenoverse 2 from the bin folder look at the bottom right corner of the screen to see if the version it should be 1.21 and have XV2 Patcher next to it

Like on the xenoverse installer? I mean that pretty much only happens when you fill it up so you might have to start uninstalling some stuff.

hey, how do use the backup savs from the save editor?
So what I do is copy my old version save file, Make a new folder and name it old version save then paste my old save file.
If I want to play on the new version I basically just do the same thing and call it the new save folder and switch between whatever save I need for the version I’m playing.
But I’ll always have backups of both 👍

@@JacobKim01010 just copy the save your using and put it in the new or old version based on which you’re playing then put the opposite one in when you’re ready to play that version.
i loaded xeno and it says if i create a new save datat my status wont be loaded( lm assuming my previous save is gone) so do i use save editor?

I replaced it with the depot and it let me set the location for xv2ins but when I launch from the bin folder I get "Failed to apply patch: xxxx"
Boot your game from the bin to see if the patcher is installed it should show on the title screen
@@TheHomiErikModding that's what I said I did, booting from the bin folder. It gives me an error from the patcher.
That means either the patcher isn’t installed correctly or you didn’t put the depot info in the right folder
i read the pinned comment for a potential fix but i cant find one. i downgraded successfully but its telling me to delete my save data to load the game. is there a way to fix this i dont wan tto lose my save data
If you played on the new version you’re gonna have to make a new save for the old one. My way around it is just using the save editor. If you plan on playing the new version again tho backup your save.

@@TheHomiErikModding yes i did the main problem i have had was i had it all on my old hard drive that got corrupted. I got a new one but they are both d drives and i have had issues with a lot. But i redownlaoded everything

If only the other 99% of the fandom thought like you 😂 but it’s just a method to stop steam from even editing it you could always download a new version or play modded and vanilla at the same time

@@TheHomiErikModding got passed that problem, was missing a number the whole time 🙃. Got to the part where I copy and pasted the depot files into XV2 directory but when I loaded up through the bin no changes where made and I was still on the new version. Doing a fresh reinstall and going to take it from the top to see if that works
Make sure the depot download says complete before you open the file it’s in it could accidentally stop the download

If you played the new version your old save won’t work so just make a new one and use save editor to get everything back.

so anytime i launch the game from the bin folder with everything installed and downgraded it tells me to verify the integrity of my files i do that but anytime i do that it deletes my downgraded files so i reinstall my downgraded files and tiles me to verify my files AGAIN which puts me in a endless loop and idk what to do please help

Yes for this video specifically you need the costume creator but you need the tools to mod anyway.

@@dereynharris9240 well the ins won’t open until you install the patcher as for the console tab just use the keyboard command on screen and enter the depot code
