Used this and it replaced my favorite lipless crank with a spinner ... then I lost it to a tree yesterday ... now I have to watch you catch fish with my new favorite bait...

These are the only lures I have ever caught catfish on I've caught two massive channel cat out of my backyard lake on the X-Rap it is one of my all time favorites. An absolutely *DEADLY* lure for any fisherman to have in their arsenal. The Rapala X-Rap is most definitely somewhere in the Top 10 greatest fishing lures of all time.
Although this lure is suspending I found the head drops which is quite unique. A truly deadly lure! Favourite colour?
The best thing about the x-rap is not only the movement but the head drops on the pause like the fish has died. One on my top lures

the water is warming I found best. When it's cold try the bx swimmer. That's just like a wobbled dead bait.
Just got this bait at Walmart for $3. It was in their sale isle

I’m in northwest Florida, and I use that exact same size for a huge speckle trout redfish here in salt water

these videos explain the bait and what to use when fishing with it, but not how to actually fish them. No info on how to work the rod, where and when to use different cadence, fast or slow....
Anyway you want too I fish my erratic so they don't get a good look at the bait

Hey great video. I'm using 10lb braid. What lb flurocarban leader should I use. I'm always worried about pike hitting it. I dont want to use too heavy of a leader because I'm afraid it will take the action away . Any suggestions would be welcome.
I fish in waters covered with pike. The x-rap moves quite well even with 100 lbs mono leaders about a foot long, at least well enough to trigger both pike & perch to eat it. The wide slashing movement is not as sensitive as the more subtle wobbel/floaty jerk movement that some other models have.
Do you really need a mono or flouro leader?
