Proper Oiling of the Bridgeport Table and Ways

- An often overlooked bit of maintenance of the Bridgeport Milling Machine. Additionally, many people mistakenly think that the fittings on the machine are for grease when they are actually for oil. The use of a special oiling tool will keep the machine operating at maximum efficiency.
You can find this tool at H&W Machinery

I am lucky enough to live about 6 miles from H & W and you are correct, they are nice people. I met with the W of H & W this week and he answered a few questions for me in his shop. I will stop in next week to get one of the oilers. Just found your site and look forward to seeing all your videos.
FINALLY!!! I have looked for years for an oiler for my mill (none Bridgeport) having made a mess and wast of oil trying to use other methods. I knew they existed but didn't know what they called them. Just now ordered one. Thanks so much for this video!
I removes as much grease as I could without removing the table and saddle. And once it runs out of grease I will just oil it manually.
Thanks again, you saved me a lot of worry!
I have been looking for this tool for a while now, and just ran across your video. Thank you!
This was helpful, thanks for posting!
I have been looking at their site, they have everything!
I believe that tool was originally designed and built to oil the turret on the panzer 3
Thanks for showing me how to use the Push 'n Lube! Just got one for a tool at work, sight-unseen, and I had no idea how to shoot the lube!
Great Data -- It fits my needs -- Thanks Jim
Thanks, I will check them out.
Thanks for the heads up, I cant thank you enough!
Great and helpful video. Thanks!
thanks for the education
My 29' Dodge has the same oil fitting on the water pump. And yeah, I did try to pump grease into it.
Thank you , that was very helpful content
So glad you found it helpful. Thank you!
I will tell them, thanks :)
Thanks, but the machine I have already has grease in it. How can I remove the grease?
It's a 1948 model from a production shop......so I'm not to worried about messing it up.
It's already been beat to hell anyway.
I sure will get an oiling tool if I end up rebuilding this machine.
It's a nice machine once you get over the dinged up table, peeling lead paint, and replaces parts. I think once I get a better mill i might just rebuild it. How would I go about rebuilding it besides taking it apart cleaning, oiling then putting it back together? Is there places I could go to get the ways flattened and rescraped if they needed it?
Thanks, but I have no way of removing the table safely like with an engine hoist.
I'm thinking remove the felt wipes and try puching out the grease with compressed air with a blowgun through the zerk fitting hole.
Is it okay to keep the grease in there as long as I just dont use any more, and use light machine oil on the ways?
Nope, the grease will probably be hardened, and there will be chips in it, making it a kind of nasty concretion. The only way to get it off is to disassemble. My Index model 55 had this same issue. I had to take the knee off and everything. The good news is the ways weren't terribly damaged by all this.
Sorry my Bridgeport does not have those..
You sound like jay Leno lol 👍🏻
2:11....... oops!
1puglife bought a Bridgeport mill and hes using wd40 for coolant.................you need to straighten him out
he is using his milling table as table.. lol
