I was thoroughly impressed with that batoning process and the following paper cutting test. Well done. D2 steel held up really well. I’ve owned and then sold various Kabar USMC versions over the years. Time to consider the CS D2 Leatherneck SF version. Thanks a bunch!
One thing I'll say about Cold Steel knives, is that in my experience, no matter the steel, they seem to do a great heat treat. I've done things with them that nobody should ever do with a knife, and I've never broken one. A better steel holds an edge better, but none of them have ever broke on me.
Another entertaining educational fun video! That’s awesome still a cutter that’s a great knife. Thank You 🙏 for another really enjoyable video THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Bam bam stick....LOL....Well, she survived with just a few chips so she is a winner....Nice and good testing there Joe X....LOL....Now, back to getting some love on the knife with a spa treatment to get that girl looking and feeling good again...Good stuff...
I've been considering this knife to face off against my old Ka-Bar, but I'm also no fan of hollow grinds. FYI, the Bowie version I have is flat ground.
Have you seen the video from DBK - Dutch Bushscraft Knives about this knife? They did various tests to see how stable it was. All in all, the knife performed well, but the handle fell off. 🙂
🔥🔥 Mines came with no COLD STEEL branding on the handle like this one. Got me looking at it side ways lol.. I was wondering if you new why some do some don’t
Take this however you want, but I started my collection of this series with the larger Lynn Thompson knife and received it with a loose guard right out of the box. Its now been regulated to heavy-duty letter opening! 😢
Now you need to get some hardcore oak with knots. Haha. The Kabar D2 Extreme will take this all day. Lol. If it bent like that it won’t do what both the USMC and D2 Extreme will. I like the design of the leatherneck but Kabar did it better.
Frank I knew you'd be here brother lol. I was curious what you'd have to say. I love my Kabars too but I think this Cold Steel is pretty good. The tang looks way better, but I'm not huge on hollow grinds. I might have to get one of these. Your Kabar D2 extreme looks nicer tho for sure, I'd prolly rather have that
@@peterbiltknifeguy I have a ka-bar, buck 119, a custom 01 trailmaster, and some others. I’m just trying to find that do all survival, bush, hunting, and tactical knife. You know, one with a decent sheath, good enough steel, at a sub $100 price.

I’m glad it was a useful video for you. Always make me happy to hear
This is the first D2 knife I got. I am impressed by it. Looks like a good balance between hardness and durability.

I agree. Definitely tuff
I broke an srk by batoning and being stupid by trying to use it as a pry bar. probably a lemon or midwayusa is selling factory second knives now.
I'm glad to see this knife held up to your testing methods, very decent. Thanks for sharing and Cheers!
Thank you
Outstanding! You have vindicated my own assessment of this wonderful knife.
LOVE my Leathernecks! GREAT review!!!
been watching you for 1.5 years and i love what you do and your knowledge
Thank you
I must say that I am impressed, even with the hollow grind!

Thanks great review 👌 nice blade
Thanks 👌
I have the leatherneck
One that I like very much
Nice presentation. Great knife
Excellent test. Not stupid crazy over the top till failure.
You mean joe x right 😂
I have my great uncle's Korean mil issued USMC Kabar with the leather sheath. It was diffently used. ❤
Very cool!
I take it, it was used for the purpose it was designed for. Not for chopping and splitting wood.
Thanks for doing this test. I was looking forward to it
No problem. It was fun
Thanks to you I’m going to be buying this one😂🔪👍
Great video brother
Lol. You’re very welcome

I did. The pin that holds the handle on came out lol
@@peterbiltknifeguy Maybe that´s the weak spot then....
With kabar’s the tang will break. The cold steel has a tang that is twice as thick
nice review and test. I am impressed. What do you use generally when you sharpen knives? I am sure you have a vid on it somewhere.
A 1x30 belt sander and a strop
@@peterbiltknifeguy Thanks!

I don’t. Maybe they changed the design
For Cold Steel being foreign made, you wouldn’t think they would be as tough as they are.
American made usually means fragile in knife work today. The kabar being a perfect example

I normally don't like D2 steel but Cold Steel seemed to heat treat this right
Most mainstream companies tend to
Is the cold steel logo gone from the handle or did you remove it somehow. Always hated the logo on the handle.
I don’t remember
Логото е останало в Китай.
new version from GSM don't have the logo on the handle
How do you sharpen your knives my friend? I’ve seen your shorts, and you have insanely sharp blades
I use a belt sander. I have a few videos up on it

SRK in cpm3v lol

I ended up grabbing the biggest leatherneck, cuz I haven't had a decent bowie before
