  • This video is about "How to Teach a Toddler to TALK!" using a super fun toddler activity! Sensory play using shaving cream is a great kids' activity. You can use cool-whip or whipped cream if your child puts things in their mouth. You and your child can play with shaving cream using any toy, but I really like using animals. In this video, we use beads and snow animals, and we pretend that the shaving cream is "snow."

I love all of your videos! I’m just wondering how this activity would look different for my 31 month old son who has a speech motor delay/ disorder? Also, he is a bit sensitive to texture so I started by putting paint in a ziplock bag and let him squish it around that way! :) thanks so much !

Lyndsy Panizzon Hi! I would probably just focus on simple sounds rather than works then. Like animal sounds ...moo, baa etc. And I’d use sign language. Great idea with paint in the bags

Hi Kayla my daughter is 3 she is in love with shaving cream right now😊 shaving cream and water. She says very few words and im afraid she wont be talking by the time she turns 4. I was wondering if you could give me some descriptive words i can use with her while we play with the shaving cream?

Hi Kayla, for the shaving cream sensory play, could we use whip cream instead of shaving cream?

Whip cream will probably melt as it sits and when they touch it since it’s a dairy based product, so it might end up in a soupy mess. For anyone else womdering

Thank You so much for this, my son is 4 and it's still hard for me to understand some of his words. He comprehends and follows directions so we'll, but when it comes to talking he sometimes grunts..but I make him say it but it just seems like it such a struggle for him, he starts pre k in August and I am so nervous that he may get bullied and teachers won't be aware or teachers may get fustrated with him.

Hi! Thanks for your comment. Aw sounds like you are trying hard to work with him. If your child is over the age of 3 and in the United States, contact your local school district and ask for a free developmental evaluation. You can also seek therapy through insurance if you have it. :)

I noticed this cute baby speaks 2 languages , I have the same with my son , he is 32 monthes old and still babbling our relatives suggest we have to let him listen to only one language to stop his confusion but it's not easy to stop listening to English also I can see he understands both English and Arabic when I say a word in Arabic he responds with the same word in English , so what is your advice on this situation ? and thanks for all your helpful videos

+Walkie Talkie Speech Therapy hi kayla, I am really happy to know that because my son's cousin was a late talker too and his speech therapist told his family the problem is his family speaking two languages and they have to speak only one language and now he and his brothers know nothing about their mother language which is making them cannot communicate with their relatives . That what makes my husband afraid to stick our son in English nursery

Hi Danna, may I ask if your daughter ended up needing speech therapy? My son is the same. He is 21 months and has a 16 word vocabulary. Thank you
