When you have questions about how to lay a 2 dimensional fabric on a compound curve, like you did in the beginning, ask your boat designer to do a quick study in his 3d modeling software to give you some variations and input.
Always had a seperate project (dinghy, seats, etc) for waste laminates to be placed/used when laminating. Ended up with an outrageously sophisticated carbon/kevlar bass boat made entirely from scraps!!
Love that photo of the barn window at the end, illuminating the snow. We finally got some snow where we are, and I plugged in some still-hanging holiday lights just to watch them glow in the snow.
Doing really well on the hull. Wow, beautiful walk. Great to hear Vera laughing in the snow with her Mum. Great job Johan. You guys are doing great. Love the vlog :)
You two have exhibited the most amazing adaptability to your challenges of all kinds such that you continue to make amazing progress in spite of them. Your videos are a wonderful combination of family, home, environment, and your passionate boat building. Wonderful and thank you!
I have seen on other channels doing fiberglass lamination they re using a metal roller to get out bubbles etc on final instead of soft foam. This may solve problem of foam falling apart.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful winter scenery. Your filming is gorgeous. I wonder if your neighbors think you are a bit eccentric for building a 50-foot sailboat in your barn? As always, Vera’s laughter is a delight to hear.
It's great to hear somebody talk about how beautiful a winter day is even though it's cold out. It's so entertaining to see your family along with seeing the boat build. Thank you for sharing and the great job you do so well.
Vera is so cute sledding; I Love that she always seems content and is singing. it reminds me of sledding down my street when I was kid, minus the singing:). It's a beautiful thing the way things worked out for your beautiful family to live in Sweden and build your dream boat at home. 🌬🌊⛵
Nice! Watching Johan work through and decide how to lay the next layer was a treat. Also, I’m noticed a few commentators pointing out the jazz. I thought I was heard Miles Davis too. Your music selections are fantastic.
Nice to hear some jazz😅 16:58 at 19:13. Was that tune "Stolen Moments" ? It's fun to see a real winter from this far away in Southern California. I remember those rare sunny, calm days between the storm fronts in Michigan decades ago. I send you three all my best wishes for enormous success building your boat in 2024!!
Progressing nicely, sure like your smooth jazz music but not having had the opportunity to visit Sweden in my lifetime sure appreciate seeing more of that beautiful country. Yes even the beautiful snow! FWCS ⛵️⛵️
I wish we had snow in Ireland like you do! I just love Vera's laughter! I also love that Malin pays her full attention to Vera if she's at home, and doesn't try to do everything!
I love the music track. I thought I heard Miles Davis but no! It’s Hara Noda, a Swedish artist? Thanks so much for introducing to his sounds ❤️. Meanwhile you guys are awesome!! Supporting you since 2016. Love you ❤
The shallow angle of the aft hull sections may slam in waves at anchor as the boat pitches in a seaway. This is why most naval architects use an aft counter angle of at least 15 degrees to alleviate hull slamming which is difficult to sleep thru. Most modern boats are loaded heavier than designed which sinks the stern counter to the waterline anyhow, as will probably be the case with RAN 3.
Another great video and the explanation of all the processes involved, a really great effort considering the weather conditions. Vera is definitely growing up, it can be seen in the way she tackles everything.
really admire the life you've built. I"m sure it's a stunning amount of work but at this distance it seems magical; full of beauty, creativity, and love.
I * LOVE ♥* that still shot at the end with the glowing window in the barn and the snow reflecting the light with the farm implements silhouetted so wonderfully and with the grasses in the foreground giving the perfect amount of depth perception to the shot!!! THAT IS A KEEPER!!! It may be just my personal appreciation of such a scene but I would think you could make 500 x 650 prints of that and sell them.
As usual , we are being treated to fantastic videos of your area and to the magnificent laughters of a beautiful child enjoying winter and ….. lovingly surrounded by two amazing parents. You could see that Johan was thinking what he could do with that old mill ! You are real troupers! 🇨🇦👍 .
Even being snowbound you still have plenty to keep you busy with your boat building. As I watched this we are also snowbound until we get plowed out in the morning. Enjoy the ❄️ !
So the thinner cloth doesn't need to be pre-soaked with resin? You seem to work your fastest when alone. It looked like at the rate you were going you could have finished the boat in this episode! 😉
If I am having a rough week, I know i can look forward to Friday and your videos. I laughed when i heard you say it was very cold at minus 15, when it was minus 49 here without the wind.
Another great episode. I would not have the patience or attention to detail you guys are demonstrating but it is great to observe from afar. Love seeing Vera enjoying the winter.
In years to come when you are on a beach somewhere in the South Pacific, you'll look back and wonder how you managed to build RAN III in all of these snow storms and cold weather. Great job folks. Keep it up. You will get there eventually.
I am a "land lubber" who dreams of learning to sail someday. Meanwhile, I live vicariously through you! I love that your family comes first. Thank you for keeping your priorities straight. I cannot wait to see this beautiful sailboat outside and upright!
And the beat goes on. OMG 😱 WOW ,guys ‼️ Nix look at how much Vera had grown 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 You will have a teenager on your hands before you know it. Love to see your lovely family enjoying life while you accomplish your goals. So important. 💕 See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
really enjoyed the scenic hike, town bakery and story. what a wonderful area to live in!! hmm? with your design talent and superb craftsmanship build custom and restore historic/ homes locally, everyone would benefit! then sail locally when you feel the need and please take your many friends along!
I was going to say the same thing! Warms my heart. Great shots of the home place. This Florida girl loves looking at the beautiful snow but would not want to live in it, lol.
Wow ! The winters are a pain , we are at 15 degrees at night at Long Island N.Y. USA. But what’s better to do then build your dream sail boat all winter , watching you two every week 👍🏻 keep warm and keep going! 🖖🏼👍🏻
And over here in subtropical Queensland Australia we have temps in the 30's and rain every day meaning high humidity... and the threat of another cyclone developing to our North. Air-con 24/7!! Love cooling down watching your show!
Hi! Fantastic content as always! I have a question: would it be possible to do a review of how the lamination has turned out before the fairing goes on? I mean things like: Are there any air bubbles which need treatment? Any other warning signs which need to be checked? Was the cloth choice optimal also in hindsight? What was the best technique for the layup and why? Any lessons for the inside lamination? … that would be very informative! All the best!
I love to hear Vera laughing as she sleds. 🛷Sledding is definitely a fun time for children. ❄The weather changed quite dramatically after that. 🌨💨Johan did a great job by himself while you were watching Vera.🔭 🏘The boat is looking good!⛵♥
Used to sail as a kid my grandad and nan run the yacht club in Fowey. Spent my summer holidays also rowed the people out to there boats and crewed in races. Great times.
When you were discussing one of two ways to start off laying the twill weave, I was wondering how different those two would be from the way the fabric would hang naturally from a point at the center of the upper end. Letting gravity determine the orientation.
I am amazed that you continue to make progress in such cold weather. Looks like you have a good plan and great execution. I really like the jazz music. Who is the artist as I may want to get some of there works?
You guys are amazing.
Sweden looks like such a great country!

On lightweight cloths you can use a squeegee thats what surfboard makers use. Much faster.
Love that photo of the barn window at the end, illuminating the snow. We finally got some snow where we are, and I plugged in some still-hanging holiday lights just to watch them glow in the snow.

Love the jazz music in this episode

Хорошее продвижение. Удачи в вашей работе!
Thanks for the side trek to the waterfall, those winter wonderland views ... and seeing more of Vera!
Whoever is doing the outdoor shots 13:50 has a very good eye, very scenic camera work 👌🏻
Agreed. The night shot @ 21:11 is absolutely fabulous as well.
The transition from the sun to the fire @14:03 is inspired.
I would love to a fresh feet dip to warm up the body.! 😂

Yall found an amazing property to raise the little one
Sledding in the winter and all the wildlife and farming in the summer she will learn a lot

Nice, think the best bit was Vera thoroughly enjoying the sled😅😅😅.
Vera's laughter is beautiful! Keep making progress on that boat! Good work!
Lovely to see somebody working with such passion, also the views of the Sunset was truly excellent , such beautiful colours in the sky
Good update and some delightful vignettes with Vera having fun. Good progress on the boat too- onwards.👍
Thanks for sharing about the pastry. I love the boat build but the cultural side trips are great too.
Great stuff guys!
I wish we had snow in Ireland like you do! I just love Vera's laughter! I also love that Malin pays her full attention to Vera if she's at home, and doesn't try to do everything!
Vera speaks English so well and so intilligently. What a family of overachievers!
Lovely B-Roll
So much like my native Quebec..! Well done

It's comforting to see the unconditional love and support Vera is so lucky to have!!
I love to hear Vera laughing as she sleds. She has gotten so tall and adorable!!! Thanks to you all.
She needs an "addition" for company....they take about nine months work though.
You are both doing a fantastic job on the boat, and as usual this video was so well done, thank you very much, from the old Englishman.
The small video clips of days exploring and enjoying treats are fantastic, thanks for sharing those! The boat build is looking great as well!!!!!
Enjoy your new challenges with the thin cloth. I really enjoyed your hike and the bakery.
Winter outdoors, in your homeland, is Beautiful. . Thank You For Sharing.

Hi great to see your all making the most of the weather , out and about , and the build is going well .😍👍👍👍
That's what a childhood should look like !!
As usual , we are being treated to fantastic videos of your area and to the magnificent laughters of a beautiful child enjoying winter and ….. lovingly surrounded by two amazing parents. You could see that Johan was thinking what he could do with that old mill ! You are real troupers! 🇨🇦👍 .
Good progress even under those weather conditions. Looks like Vera enjoys some extra time in the snow!
Even being snowbound you still have plenty to keep you busy with your boat building.
As I watched this we are also snowbound until we get plowed out in the morning.
Enjoy the ❄️ !

That laugh! Omg.
Loved the backing track @ 20:15 a Chill-Out tune for the Chilled weather 🥶😁
In years to come when you are on a beach somewhere in the South Pacific, you'll look back and wonder how you managed to build RAN III in all of these snow storms and cold weather. Great job folks. Keep it up. You will get there eventually.
Great work 😊
Sail on
Cheers
Replace ‘make hay while the sun shines’ with ‘make boats while the snow flies’!
Well done guys! Slow and steady wins the race. All the best wishes from Colombia!!!
Vera will be a World class Bobsled Champion! Love the pictures, activity's and the challenges you overcome each day with this epic boat build.
Great photography! And great laugh Vera.
Thankyou 👍
Congrats on work thus far…will be worth it! Vera’s laughter is beautiful & loved frost on trees & mill. Canadian temps -30 C & -40 with windchill 🇨🇦❤
Love how the weather is impacting the boat before its even finished been built!
I, lovely Show and the beautiful pictures I’m growing very fond of the show and of you guys.
I am a "land lubber" who dreams of learning to sail someday. Meanwhile, I live vicariously through you! I love that your family comes first. Thank you for keeping your priorities straight. I cannot wait to see this beautiful sailboat outside and upright!
Stop dreaming, buy a boat ☝️

Hearing Vera laughing and giggling just somehow makes the world right, Love her.
Not much in life better than hearing children laughing.
I agree!! ❤
I was going to say the same thing! Warms my heart. Great shots of the home place. This Florida girl loves looking at the beautiful snow but would not want to live in it, lol.
You're long overdue and deserving a phase that might 'go pretty fast'
Vera has an delightfully infectious laugh
Great persistence both inside and outside!!!
14 months?!!?! omg time is flying by
Winter is so beautiful when it is snowy
@17:34 Please do something to cheer that darling up! LOVE her laugh! Thanks for sharing
🤣🤣
Lovely video. Well done
extra overlap isnt waste, its strength. with dear family onboard thats always a win.
Some great scenery but it must be very harsh and cold also, getting on great with the hull too.
Beast laminating session........that was amazing.....
Love seeing all that snow, summer hear in New Zealand,10 am,28 degrees Celsius, high today of around 30 c
Wow ! The winters are a pain , we are at 15 degrees at night at Long Island N.Y. USA. But what’s better to do then build your dream sail boat all winter , watching you two every week 👍🏻 keep warm and keep going! 🖖🏼👍🏻
why am I not surprised Johan got it finished, bit of hero worship going on here. 😂🙏
OUTSTANDING
Back on the farm when cold snaps we would bring batteries indoors to keep them warm
Wow that lunch looked so good !!!
Great video
It's coming together very well
From Canada

Hi, I have a foot of snow like you had last video. Rarely do we ever get that much snow ❄️⛄️.
Thanks for sharing.
I can think of worse places to get snowed in in 😂🍻🥂
Man wat a job you have done head off for you
Used to sail as a kid my grandad and nan run the yacht club in Fowey.
I feel your pain on planning the orientation of the final layer. It seems impossible to make the perfect decision without some CAD program.
I'm building a 15' Paradox on the third year now. You're making great progress :)
How/when are you doing the transom? What a beautiful countryside to live in, and the pastries... oh my!
We plan to wait with the transom to make it easier to get in and out of the boat during interior construction. Cheers!
I was wondering about that too. Won't there be overlap, making the stern sides too thick?
There’s a recess along the edge of the transom to accommodate for the extra layers of glass. There’s a video about it a while back… Cheers!
Nice job guys god bless😊😊
I am amazed that you continue to make progress in such cold weather. Looks like you have a good plan and great execution. I really like the jazz music. Who is the artist as I may want to get some of there works?
🎉🎉🎉
as you have a 3D file of your boat - did you do a mockup on a 3D printer? Might also help with planning glass cloth.
