Best treatment for atherosclerosis: Vitamin C
Why do only coronary arteries clog with cholesterol and not veins or small capillaries?
If "high cholesterol" is the cause of clogging your arteries, why doesn't it clog the arteries in your finger, your nose, and the smallest capillaries in your toe?
Scurvy = No vitamin C in your diet.
Symptom: Your blood vessels break and you bleed to death. Think of the sailor of the past.
Scurvy of the heart = Just enough vitamin C from food.
Symptom: Arteries around the heart are not strong enough to resist high blood pressure. Damage is repaired with cholesterol LP(a) to prevent worse. After years of repair, your arteries become clogged.
A guinea pig can also not synthesize vitamin C by themself, just like humans, and needs supplementing 50 mg vitamin C every day and weighs only 1 kg.
    1 orange = 50 mg vitamin C.
Do you really think that 75 mg vitamin C for YOU is enough? What is your weight?
Enough vitamin C supplement of at least 3000 mg. per day gives strong and flexible arteries. Cholesterol is not needed as a repair agent. Cholesterol in your coronary arteries is broken down and burned in your liver.

Many people commenting here aren’t taking into consideration the fact that this presentation was done 8 years ago! Of course some information is out of date now. I’m sure he has learned a lot in recent years and updated his knowledge on recent changes and perhaps changed his mind on some things that were shown in this presentation.
People don’t need to resort to discrediting him entirely or name calling. It’s important to be thorough yourselves when you research a topic and check under the TH-cam video where it tells you how old this video is. Then take that into consideration while you watch the presentation.

This video is THE BOSS when it comes to common sense when it comes to diet and cardiovascular disease. It is non-biased, evidence-based, and correct. Dr. Maron has no ax to grind, just a scientist reporting on the studies and conclusions.

Something I also thought about in regards to taking fish oil is if we just take fish oil and add it to our regular diet thinking this is going to lower heart disease, it may do nothing because the rest of our diet is still garbage. Also most of the fish oil on the market is probably not very high quality.
Better off just replacing bad foods with fish it sounds like

I got you bro. Its real simple just eat no more than 4 oz of meat per meal. Dont eat cheese or very much milk. Focus on veggies and brown rice. Dont eat a bunch of sugary fruits like bananas and apples, eat berries instead. Try out intermittent fasting aswell. Your best bet is looking at a bodybuilder low carb type of diet. Be sure to do intermittent fasting.

It's now January, 2019. LDL cholesterol has now been taken out of the risk calculators for heart disease. It simply isn't a useful metric. Ratios give better insight...
    Total Cholesterol to HDL.
    HDL to triglycerides.
These, of course, are actually giving insight into metabolic health. It's metabolic health and glycation that is at the root of heart disease.

I trll him hibe me one of thise heart scans he said he rather not put my body through the stress of the radiation and dye , well that would tell if i got anymore plaque or if what i got is in recession .he insists it is statins that would benefit me more. I think doctors get some kind of payoff for pushing statins time for me to change docs

I don't know about the "evidence" of cognitive and muscle issues with statins, but I had both issues.. I didn't know at the time.. Had to figure it out. If statins were that good, why aren't all the cardiogists on them? Everyone above 50 yrs old should be on them. I am not trying to be funny- maybe they are that good.. But something doesn't smell right.

and when do people use statins?
      any 20-30s u know or a 40-60s uncle?
Most statins users are already too deep in the swarm, statins can't save them 🙄
even with that statin still show significant benefits for heart disease.
5 heart attacks prevented vs 1 diabetic created as a side effect.
u choose. For some people it's worthy the trade

completely outdated information. Humans are obligate carnivores. To say we are omnivores implies we can eat grass and tree leaves like deers and gorillas. The modern vegetables we have were genetically modified through breeding to make it fit for a carnivore consumption. If humans are omnivore, we would be able to eat the original plant. As top predators, our role is to keep the herbivore population under control. If you don't fulfill your role as nature wants you to and just eat grains, carbohydrates, and soybean oil, nature will weed you out. Atheroschlerosis is one of the ways you get weeded out.

The artery improvements by Ornish and Esselstyn were vegan no oil diets. Fish shows benefit in population studies because those people are eating less other meats and generally the fish eaters were wealthier. So there is tremendous confounding with fish studies. The longevity studies in mice show detrimental results from more protein and fat.

    • @RomaniaDeAzi
      @RomaniaDeAzi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

also the ornish diet was not only a change in diet but in change of enviroment and habits, those ppl were meditating, exercising, doing 1 on 1 psychiatric improvement sessions, they didn;t smoke, drink and didn;t consume industrial processed foods....
so doing all those changes and saying diet was the only contributor is just not on the honest side...

    • @theartificialsociety3373
      @theartificialsociety3373 8 ปีที่แล้ว

It's not misleading as Esselstyn group were not told to do meditation or even exercise. If the Esselstyn group did those things they did it on their own. Smoking is no brainier, if the control group did not stop smoking despite the heart problems then that's a crazy bunch.

You are true. So true...I am just going to say however two things.
      1. Greek Orthodox Christians have around 100++ days of fasting per year. I will only mention the 40 days before Christmas, the 50 days before Easter and the 15 days before the 15th of August where we celebrate the sleep of Mother Mary. People who follow this Orthodox Calendar do have HUGE health benefits from every point of view
      2. Newer generations DO NOT follow unfortunately the Orthodox Calendar so they are not fasting so much for example. They eat junk food at huge rates. Pizzas, cokes, kebabs etc So its a matter of years if you ask me, for scientists to see the same effects of the American Diet .... here
      Cheers
