As a gent with a small wrist, I'm happy I can finally buy a Tuna that doesn't look like a hockey puck on my wrist. I like the convenience of solar-powered watches and the looks of the Tuna :D
Almost preordered one a few weeks back but I realized I'm not wild about the colors, basically the way I feel about all of these "Street" products. This would be great in a traditional black/white Tuna scheme or similar, dark blue and beige don't do it for me. I'll probably pick one up once they hit the grey market.
With the excitement settled, l just realized that my present small one is 47mm! This 43mm is indeed small in the Tuna world, and the 38.7mm? Man, awesome. I will get this for my wife too. 🤣🤣🤣
@@EscapementWatch yes, my wrist is only 6.25 yet l could still wear the 47mm one with ease. They do wear smaller. This new 43mm will wear better for me, but, l can imagine it will look smaller. The 38.7 version is definitely for the ladies. 😅
I own the sbdy073, Japanese domestic automatic model, actually took it diving and it worked amazing (I did a 18 meter dive), the small lugs make this watch
This colour combination is actually very legible under water. Blue and yellow (gold is close to yellow) are very legible at significant depths. So truely practical dive watches.
What I like about these Tuna cases is how it wears. I have a relatively small wrist at 6.5 Inches and while I really like the turtle case, the tuna wears way better. Feels like a smaller watch, especially because of the lug-lug and the smaller size of the dial.
Just ordered a SUT409P1 for the GF for Valentine’s Day coming up. No videos on it, and all sales pages are in Japanese. Hoping it’s as cool as it looks in all the pics. 👌🏽
On the positives of you your review of the 2 watches I purchased the SUT 403 after debating the size,7.5” -7.75” wrist . I wanted a Seiko ISO CERTIFIED DIVER, and this mini, ne ,micro tuna is astonishing in the fit and finish , absolutely bomb proof as a tuna should be .As a left handed coms tech who wears my watch on my left wrist this watch is reliable , comfortable on a Barton Elite blue strap and absolutely Disappears .I WAS a subscriber to your channel ( fellow CANUCK) but your dismissive BRO ATTITUDE and refusal to to do wrist shots of the SUT403 because it’s a chicks watch was disappointing , not everyone wants “wrist presence” and just want the joy of having a Seiko killer diver .In later episodes you GUSHED about the other Seiko solar diver diver and were quite excited to proclaim it awesome . Sorry, falling titan you are more of a failed titan .
FT you are kicking a55 lately with your releases...getting them reviewed ahead of everyone. Really nice colourways on these Tuna's...and you need to buy one for your wife...suits her wrist:-) Ps..love the sneaky SRPF77 comparison. Can't wait for that review. I've pulled the trigger on the SRPF79 Samurai...just couldn't help it but may regret it after your Turtle review goes live. Keep up the quality work .love it 👌👌👌
Hey! First al oll - thznk you for the review! And I have question - mini tuna sut403 has a quart solar movement, does it mean that this watch has an infinite life span if it will recharge with sunlight? Thx!
The dial and hands are like the late sixties matic lady (minus the date window). Nice watch, and with solar a great choice for longevity and no need for servicing or battery replacement.
The only thing that stops me from buying the auto is the hardlex. Come on Seiko, you have given us sapphire in this price range (in the UK) with the King Turtle and Samurai! If it wasn't for that, It would be close to the perfect rugged watch for me.
The bezel insert is most likely plastic. They used a similar one on some of the older Save The Ocean models. Wish the automatic was no date as well. I like the Street Series grey and tan ones from 2020 with the 4R36 day/date display better.
The comparison you done with the SKX/Manta is very good, so as to know the actual size on the wrist. .. And the automatic sure looks good on your wrist. Surprisingly so does the 38mm Solar tuna on your wife's wrist.. Phew, Got to slow myself down.. Maybe Mid-Year :D
I really like the idea of small and slim solar diver... but being a tuna with barely any lugs makes it sort of tiny! Don't know what to think on this one.
Have you seen the news 140th anniversary SPB207J1 and SLA047J1? 😍 I hope to see both here soon, but first, i would really like to see your spb185 with 187 bezel beacause if it likes me i will do the same😅. Thanks for your work!
Nice review . What is you wife wrist diameter on cm ? Do you wife still have this tuna ? What is the bezel condition.. has it accumulated a lot of scratches? I like this Tuna, but in generally I hate the scratches that accumulate on the bezel. Make me wonder if it would be a good purchase
It's great that compared the sizes , that smaller Tuna is awesome. BUT... 550usd for hardlex and 4r is disappointing. You are my seiko guru, what is the cheapest seiko with a 6r movement? Those SARB models really were unbelievable deals.
umm maybe the sumo now a days. green one. 6r35. For the next video I'll do pocket shots of the green and gold versions. both sizes ppl seem to want me to wear the small one.
oh yeah! too big for me or id own 1 or 2 for sure! If you tried sumo then new 42.5mm willard's will wear nicely. next vid i'll show these new ones far away on wrist shots for visual compared to willard and others.
Your hand would probably fall off if you'd put that smaller "lady" watch on you. I was interested in how it looks causeni have a 6.7 wrist. I can't wear 42
Really nice color ways on those. Not sure about the side of the case looking like a can, but you can't have everything you want in life , eh ? Great review!
Matches real life usage to a tee. Atomic time app on my phone. So works well enough for atomic time it's good enough to gauge performance of any watch.
I’m a female watch collector and the reason I haven’t bought this yet is because it is solar. Why do watch makers dumb down nice watches for us ladies? I see a watch I like and it’s either quartz, purple, pink or the over gaudy use of diamonds. If a company won’t take me seriously then they can’t have my money. It is irritating to be so limited in what watches I can buy.

Dude the comparisons you are doing are amazing way of getting an idea of proportions, every youtube channel should take note here.
WOW! That's fast! I saw the announcement for these last week. The color scheme is on point!
The smaller one is a winner!
Agreed..
It would be if it had a date display
I like the smaller one more. More sensible size and cleaner design.

Yes, a small Tuna. About time. Will definitely get at least one of this. Awesome.

yes for me at 6.5inch i think the larger one looks too small lol. So they do wear smaller then their size shows in real life.

Thanks, Falling. I am thinking of getting the 43mm in blue and 39mm in green. Any suggestions? Possible to cut this strap as well ?😅

Hey....guys like quartz too! The "lady's" watch is perfect for my 6.75" wrist. Not everyone can wear a full size tuna.
you will be fine with the larger one. it wears smaller then the size shows!
I got the one with no date. Size is perfect at 38mm, super comfortable
LOVE the size and model comparisons ❤ So helpful to get a feel for the watch 🙏

So true! there is a new 42mm smaller turtle coming tho
@@EscapementWatch Is that the same as the one referred to as the "Baby Turtle"?
I've never put my hands on that one yet.
no its the tortoise
The comparison is really nice to indicate how the watch looks against other models. Thank for showing it.
My pleasure!
This was really helpful! Love the comparisons. I wish you can bring them closer to the camera when comparing
I will try! for the next green versions video.
The quartz Tuna might be a "womens" but I do like it. That aaid automatic Tuna isn't that large either! Both look like great unisex choices.
Thank you so much for the wrist shot on your wife! I'm female and planning to buy the solar one but scared it would be to over on my wrist. Thank youu
Nice... But we Don have this model in Spore... How much issit???
Enjoying these urban tunas. The bezel insert is the same style as the STO white shark Turtle.

both are great, prefer the no date option and would totally rock it on a 7.5 wrist... currently wearing a sumo
Even a standard size solar tuna fits a small wrist, but this is exceptional.

I did one with the green solar check out the video
Thank you for doing what you do. You definitely helped me make a couple watch buying decisions.
Glad to help
Thanks mate, I think the comparisons were very useful as many people know one of those watches and a comparison helps see the size and looks.
Glad you enjoyed it
I sold my padi solar tuna about a year ago. I might pick up the smaller one. I need a grab and go watch.
Years ago, I bought a Citizen Eco-drive Pro dive 300m for well under $200, now it's selling for $400.
my motto in life is "cognition comes through comparison".
so, the different just for the size, movement, and date display yay? strap as good as the big one
Yes correct
Both great models! Would've love to see you try on the 38mm too.
Sure next video I'll do the green ones.
I like it. Eagerly anticipating more colors for these 43mm auto tunas.
On this occasion I prefer the look of the solar...They are gorgeous..
The dial and hands are like the late sixties matic lady (minus the date window). Nice watch, and with solar a great choice for longevity and no need for servicing or battery replacement.
I think women are much more sensible unlike men fiddling around with out-of-date mechanical watches.
That would explain all my aunts and female cousins with rolex date justs and the time is never set! date is always wrong as well!
Good video I’m gonna order one for my misses.
Hello mate
Great review, I always wanted tuna to be in small size, this solar model in 38.7mm as u showed, is it made for ladies? Or men’s ?
I believe it is a his and hers model but anyone can wear it
Should’ve done a wrist shot on you with the smaller one! I don’t have small wrist but I’m a huge fan of 38mm watches
I did it on the next video with the green colored ones.
You think a 6.5 inch wrist is too small for the 43.5 baby tuna? I heard they wear a lot smaller than they actually are
I would love to see a comparison between the SUT403 and the skx013..
Thé solar is so cool and has a very good size.

Please call Kavar let them know E&W sent you.
Great colour. Are these international release?
I believe so
Is that dust on the dial or the cristal? (on the quartz one)
probably on crystal at what time stamp?
sheess that ring on her looks like a castle.
There is a hidden sapphire underneath in the middle under the main diamond and 4 sapphires. Its pretty cool design
The solar 38mm is fantastic! With a steel braclalet would be perfect. When it arrives in Europe?
sorry no clue on euro release schedules.
Where can i buy this. I did not find this at seikos website.
its new give it some time. or you can buy it from Kavar jeweller link in description
Do you have any of the blue back in stock?
Yes both blues back in stock I believe.
