Your silence is so therapeutic - no annoying soundbites and evidently no faces. Just the journey. Add subtitles - there are only two at Nakuru and Kisumu. I was able to grasp Munyu and Gilgil signposts somewhere. It is amazing seeing the crowd towards the end genuinely happy with the train. I definitely travelled with you for the 53 minutes. This is the type I can watch again and again.
Wow! 9:10 Bata Estate in Limuru Town. My childhood place three to four decades back. Never thought i'd see this in a hundred Years! Thanks for such a video. I recall the trains running day and night along this line. And also had a few occasional crashes close to the Limuru Railway station. But everything got back up in a few days or weeks and life went on. Thank you for this. Great memories.
Breath taking Kenya is blessed! Those complaining it’s slow wapande KQ! I expect the train to be as slow as possible nikule kwa macho polepole mpaka kisumu
I have roots going back to the begining of these railway coaches. We built them at the Derby Carriage and wagon works in the early 1980's along with a similar order for Tanzania. Metro Cammel produced the body shells and we fitted them out. After being made redundant in 1992 I joined up with Voluntary Service Overseas and was selected to be a carpentry instructor at Kisii rehabilitation centre we travelled to Kisumu on the same coaches in first class four per sleeper coach, being served dinner and breakfast during the journey. I went on to marry a Kenyan lady and after moving Back to Derbyshire we went to Nairobi on a visit and travelled down to Mombassa on the Metre guage railway ( Which is now made in China standard guage). splendid experience.
Am always fascinated with stories like this. I always thought the carriages were made in the UK then exported to Kenya. Thank you for the amazing story and I hope to visit Derbyshire and more of England one day. You can checkout my scotland documentary 😎
Our family took a holiday trip to Mombasa in the mid 1970’s on East African Railways (EAR). The trains were quite grand then. Sleeper cars for overnight, meals served in the dining car. Beautiful. The rail staff were excellent. At the time it was a bit dangerous traveling by train. Villagers would steal pieces of track to make souvenirs to sell such as knives and spears to tourists. Sometimes the trains would derail. 😬
That is an amazing insight. I can only imagine the trip and nature during those times. Its unfortunate pieces of rail still get stolen but such instances have been reduced.
This just a milestone, Nairobi kisumu via rail, how I really wished they introduced night services and also introduce the Nairobi, eldoret kitale all together with the SGR, this will give travelers wide options for transportation
The revival of this ralway corridor has realy reminded us that we can do it if we have the right leadership..and mindset ..we just need to believe in ourselves, i wonder why the gorvernment had to trust rift Valley railways to do a concession ..... I like the way majority of kenyans respected the railwaycorridor a few seam to think that you can grab railway land and get away with it how do you claim the railway corridor that was there 60rs ago before you were born ...,good to see fencing posts ready to be mounted let's respect gvnt property..even in kisumu and kitale the railway land was reclaimed....na hakuna makesi mingi kama nakuru nyandarua, naivasha ....watu wa Central let's stop hii grabbing mania .was that lake elementaita.? i can identify lanet ,section 58 ,nakuru railway station is unfortunate some poeple had grabbed land next to the ralway and build houses
I wonder what those other rails you see are used for. Kenya really has an extensive rail network that has been dormant for a long time. Sad we did not prioratize rail along time ago and how we let it go down. Hope this time it stays for ever. Just look how happy the people are
Reminds me of the lunatic express. Very Nostalgic. This is like a train safari. I can not see how SGR would fit on this rail line . Notice how there are many winding turns and thats why the train has to move with caution? Love it though.
Where did you get the idea that SGR was to fit into this line, what does that even mean when all the way from Mombasa, SGR has been built as an independent new corridor on its own?
This vodeo was actuallly very good. If you ever make version two carry the app that shows the speed also make a version that is longer "uncut" if possible.
I wonder, is this the first train to enter Kisumu city? or the route was revived, I saw a group of people very enthusiastic when this train passed, amazed by the scenery during the journey from Nairobi to Kisumu, greetings from Indonesia.
Thanks for the good video. Though resurrecting the rail travel gives hope, I will be honest that I have never seen such a slow train anywhere in the world. If this goes on, it will die for good.
Love from india . excellent video coverage..Howany kilometers train journey..Do this train has dining car ..what is the fare for sleeper class n first class journey..
Kenya economic revival is on the way , but corruption gone kill us. It will prudent if gvt set aside like 100b from budget every year to build sgr from naivasha to ksm but coz of corruption will resort to expensive loans aki curruption ww

You think they use bullet train in Central? Tribalist dunderhead. Kisumu is by far more developed than those regions in government you even have an option to fly

I wonder, is this the first train to enter Kisumu city? or the route was revived, I saw a group of people very enthusiastic when this train passed, amazed by the scenery during the journey from Nairobi to Kisumu, greetings from Indonesia.
It has been revived after being dormant for about 15yrs.
@@Ninaform Oh I see, thanks
I wish they still have a day time train. Nowadays it is only night time train
Oh. I didn’t know they changed to night only. I though there is still a day one. That’s boring.
Thanks for the good video. Though resurrecting the rail travel gives hope, I will be honest that I have never seen such a slow train anywhere in the world. If this goes on, it will die for good.
The slower the better, for sight seeing

You didn't have to make it a tribal thing
You still have an option to fly to kisumu bwana chairman
You think they use bullet train in Central?
Tribalist dunderhead. Kisumu is by far more developed than those regions in government you even have an option to fly
Why do people go to Kisumu, what is good with that place???
What kind of questions is that. Y do u go to your village what is good about your village.
Are you for real even if I'm not from that place grow up bana
Village Sadists like you cannot tell kisumu is Kenya's 3rd City. You think the world revolve around Kiandutu
Kisumu is a city but Kiambu maybe next century
Kisumu is just a city of Violence and Mawe...If you arent born there no need to go there...And if you have money never ever invest in that hell hole
Iko very slow
And people are impressed with this shit. Tuache wheelbarrow mentality. Heri upande mat to Nai.
