This train was the one which was plying the Nairobi to Mombasa and back before the SGR came. It had many of the 1st class coaches and 2nd class also and the 3rd class. And the 1st class and 2nd class ticket holders were served dinner at night and breakfast in the morning on board in the train restaurant car which was at the middle of the train as it was an overnight journey. The train was travelling an overnight journey from Nairobi leaving in the evening and arriving to Mombasa the following day. I hope Kenya Railways will consider restoring it back for Mombasa journey to be running complementary from the current SGR.
Congrants kaka,,,,it's David from the neighborhood,,,,Tz +255 hopefully there will be a train connecting Tz and Ky in the near future so we can experience the real nature of mankind between the sister countries...
@@Ninaform sasa I think you should have a return trip mpaka Moyala (Kenya and Ethiopia). Btw check with the bus companies now that the road is open, wakupatie ka ticket NBI-ADD na bus. Best wishes as usual!
@@Ninaform I do lots of budget travels too. Lemme know if you ever think of going to Ethiopia by road. My IG handle is @rheenruby. That’s where I document my trips
Other than buying new morden train engines, how can the rail road be redesigned to make the journey faster & comfortable? I hope Kenya Railways have Kenyan Engineers working on this for the future.
So is it 1000 bob per person in 1st class or it 1000 bob per 1st class section? Like did each of you three jamaaz pay 1000 ama you split 1000 to book that ka-section you were in?
The distance to the town is around 1km. its a walking distance. We didnt do much thats why i skipped the hotel part but there are several cheap accomodations as low as 1k per night and they are good enough not looking shabby.
@@wangarimuya7084 yes the hotel was accessible and just close to the town center. I used airbnb to book and the cost was 1k for 1 person or 1500 two people. Had the most comforable bed I have ever slept in. I think it was called Celebrika hotel.
I think all that information is in the video 🤔 Either way, boarding is at the railways terminus in town. Cost is kshs 200 for 3rd class or 1k for first class. You need to call them to confirm.
Next time you are in Nanyuki, accommodation and food on me. But surprisingly, I have not used the train yet. But one day I will when I have no fear of being stuck in the wilderness.
Gd job done. U show exactly gd the interior. The first class is like second class in german trains. Lol. But i see here the economic class is worst. Some kids hanging turning on the holders. True need the company a train like express.they have some more days to work
Wow, 9 hours is a long trip. Great video as always

I agree with you. A good thing they can also do is bring trains like the DMU which are much faster than this old ones.
This video is so insightful, definitely saving it for future trips to Nanyuki👌
The trip will be Worth it. Enjoy when you get to do it 👍🏾
You have done excellent review, and for sure I will think twice regarding SGR!
Congrants kaka,,,,it's David from the neighborhood,,,,Tz +255 hopefully there will be a train connecting Tz and Ky in the near future so we can experience the real nature of mankind between the sister countries...
True. Let’s hope the two countries will one day unite in expanding infrastructure links.
It's looks awesome, am fully addicted in travel videos aki
Very informative..well done.keep it up👏👏👏
Yo Amazing Bro i love every piece of this video.may God bless yu & yo work.
Good job. I follow your episode. We need more like periodically
Very nice trip kabisa bringing back the days of leisurely train travel. You have a niche telling and showing the budget traveler around Kenya.

@@abwireojiambo6870 yes I will go by road. Let me reach out.
I am a new subscriber here. Just discovered you today. I have watched your vlogs and I love it. New fan. I also love solo travel.
For Mombasa route there should be two options the SGR and metre gauge ie increase traveling options my opinion
True. There is no reason why it was discontinued. They can even bring it back and have the first class coaches and make it a tourism thing.
Keep it up lil bro. Excellent..
Very nice👌🏾; *with Borat's voice 😁
Great report... I want to travel on the MGR train too...!
Do the Nanyuki trip. It’s worth the experience.
Good editing and shooting
Good tips and advice!! I think that this would be a great idea if you want to visit Olpejeta
This is good I think also the first class coaches should be increased
True. Or even a full train with 1st class coaches only.
Great video! Thanks for this. Super informative. Lemme plan for my trip to Nanyuki
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video, narration and information shared. Keep up the good work. 👏👏👏👏
Nice video 🙌🏾

I doubt they have any plans of upgrading them. It’s just been talks for years with nothing materialising.
Yes, they need to change those 3rd class cars. Is there a 2nd class?
Nope. No 2nd class.
Epic work wow 👍

Sorry. It's 1k per person.
Great job on the review👌
Next time, tell us about the distance between the nanyuki station and nanyuki town..tell us about hotel reviews

Am grateful for that information☺️🥰
Where is the train station located in Nairobi. Nikitaka kwenda Nanyuki nitapandia wapi hiyo train?
Behind moi avenue. Check in google map
The train departs from Nairobi Central Railway Station(Near Rongai stage) 9:30am on Fridays and 10:30 am on Sundays from Nanyuki.
Thank you
@@gabistan2007 thanks. Will check
Just found out about u today n i feel I should have a year ago. Doing great job
Thanks a lot 🙏🏾
Nice review good rate for first class if you have small children, 3rd class looks way uncomfortable for long distance
Hello, please,Where can i board train to nanyuki from Nairobi and roughly how much is the fare.
I think all that information is in the video 🤔 Either way, boarding is at the railways terminus in town. Cost is kshs 200 for 3rd class or 1k for first class. You need to call them to confirm.
i love your contibution keep up ras kyalo resident norway
Great video can you do the train from Nairobi to Kisumu
Did that Vlog 22: Nairobi to Kisumu train review || Is it better than a matatu?|
th-cam.com/video/XhNELnAT-AU/w-d-xo.html
Do you have an update of the amount of passengers in the 1st class?
Its 3 people per “room” last i checked. Its not crowded and way better than the economy.
Good job
Great stuff
It's like a dream come true for you when I come
Hi
Do they offer tea and snacks?
Nope. But there’s a restaurant you can buy stuff.
Next time you are in Nanyuki, accommodation and food on me. But surprisingly, I have not used the train yet. But one day I will when I have no fear of being stuck in the wilderness.
Now i am imagining how the Malaba one will look like
My question is where do you pay and where do you board the train
You pay at the train station in Nairobi in town and thats also where you board the train. But you can also call them to book and pay.
revival: kudos to KR...about time too!

Nice 👍
Hey...let's go across Kenya together
Why not. I'd be down for that.
Ukipanda 1st class na mko wawili and you want to share the compartment do you pay 1k or 2k?
Its 1k per person so 2k for two people and I think 500 for kids.
Does it shake
Now this is exactly as the Chinese sgr first class.
Can v hv Nakuru/Nanyuki route too...!
Maybe they will revive it. They are currently working on the line from nairobi to Busia.
What about second class
There isn’t one.
a good video
Cool channel
Would like to join your next trip

You got all that in the first class for a thao? That was free
The first class makes for a good weekend trip 👌🏾
9hrs for 180km...forget that..
This train is a scam. Why would I spend 7-9 hours in that uncomfortable seat for a journey of 3hours nkt.
Yes they need to upgrade the seats in the economy class.
9 hours for 200kms?! Good god! The first class looks nice but still... I'd just take a matatu.
Use the 1st class for the experience.
Good for tourism.. scenery... photography..
What
Third class ni machoos tu
