  • Senja is a beautiful island located inside the Arctic Circle, just north of the Lofoten Archipelago. This island is famous for its distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and fjords, small fishing villages, iconic beaches and untouched lands.
In this video we would like to share with you some of the most interesting places on Senja.
    00:40 - Hesten & Segla Mountains
Segla is the most famous mountain on Senja. It is a spike-shaped summit with an incredibly high cliff falling down to the fjord Mefjorden. To see Segla, you need to climb a mountain just next to it called Hesten.
Hesten is also the mountain where the iconic pictures of Segla are usually taken from.
    02:06 - Ørnfjorden
Ørnfjorden is one of numerous fjords located at the west coast of the Senja island. The villages of Husøy and Fjordgård are located along the coast of the fjord.
    02:35 - Husøy Fishing Village
The village covers the entire island of Husøy and it is located in the Ørnfjorden fjord at the northwest coast of Senja. Up until recent times, the island was only accessible by boat; however, it is now connected to the island of Senja by a 300-metre-long causeway.
    03:14 - East Senja
East coast of Senja and villages located along this part of the island.
    04:11 - Bergsfjorden
Bergsfjorden is an approx. 15 kilometer long fjord on the outer Senja in Troms. The fjord is characterized by a more open landscape than many of the other fjords on the outside of Senja. Bergsfjorden also has a very numerous archipelago, called Bergsøyan.
    04:54 - Tungeneset Beach
Scenic cliffs of Tungeneset beach on Senja island in northern Norway.
The Devils Jaw, or Tungeneset, is a spectacular range of sharp mountain peaks visible from the National Scenic Route on Senja. A walkway built in Siberian larch leads out over the rocks to provide a view to the Northern Sea in the west and the Devils Jaw mountain in the north.
    06:23 - Mefjorden
Mefjorden is one of numerous fjords located at the west coast of the Senja island. This 16-kilometre (9.9 mi) long fjord cuts into the large island of Senja from northwest. The villages of Mefjordvær, Senjahopen and Mefjordbotn are located along the coast of the fjord.
    06:44 - Husfjell Mountain
Husfjellet is one of the most iconic viewpoints on Senja island and offers rewarding panoramic view to nearby fjords - Ersfjorden and Bergsfjorden.
From Husfjell mountain you can also admire many of Senja's amazing peaks.
    10:12 - Hamn i Senja Village
Hamn i Senja is one of many small and cozy fishing villages on Senja.
    10:52 - Gryllefjorden
Gryllefjorden is one of numerous fjords located at the west coast of the Senja island.
The fjord is 7.5 km long. The fjord first goes north, but quickly turns straight east. The town of Gryllefjord is located on the south side of the fjord.
Enjoy arctic Norway at its best !

You Norvegians are the luckiest human beings on planet Earth ...The beauty of your landscape is probably aligned with the beauty in your souls. I am preparing my trip to your country... building my own camper van, to spend a full year in Senja... most probably around 2027-2033. Thank you so much for this beautiful documentary. I imagine the time you have spent to get to this level of perfection. Thank you again.

Norwegians def prefer Senja to Lofoten for a vacation. With a tent you can be in total seclusion for a month there in amazing nature.
