    In this video I am building a custom Cherry Loft Bed. Building commission pieces like this one is one of my favorite parts about building custom furniture. This is a piece I would have never built on my own, so getting to do something different and interesting was good fun! This build utilized plenty of interesting techniques including template routing, leg tapering, domino connecting, ladder building, and woodworking madness.

    the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

    Currently in the finishing stage of my first furniture piece. I've binge watched just about every woodworking youtube channel and would love to see more of the finish process in your videos. I guess it's not as exciting as the building process, but I feel I could pick up more tips just from watching the sanding/finish montage, like I have with your building montages. For example, you aren't teaching us "how to clamp during glue ups", but I've learned a lot just from seeing the glue up clips in all your videos. In this one specifically, seeing a bit about how you sanded all those curves would be helpful.
    I only mention it because my sanding/finishing is taking a while with mistakes to fix, so I snickered a little bit when you said "All I had to do was sand, add some finish, and this one was done". All that aside, great video! Great design! Great channel! The slower/calmer style (compared to other channels) took me a bit to get used to but I'm really digging it now.

    Very interesting to see that process even though it’s beyond me! Success on TH-cam is as much about the actors as the content, you two are good!

    Would love to see a double bed version of this, for one or two adults, with desk space underneath, giving a split between office hours & relaxation hours. Working from home during lockdown I have come to appreciate separation between work & down time, as my desk is just a few feet away from bed, and I don’t have the luxury of working from the living room.

    • @shaunb66
      @shaunb66 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hope it doesn't tip over while the kids are roughhousing up there. I would suggest earthquake straps bolted into the wall's framing.

    Has it a very thin mattress ? A standard mattress would elevate the child above the side rails ?

    • @shaunb66
      @shaunb66 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was custom made for a specific mattress that will be below the side rails, so it is all good.
