These are all great suggestions and I've been to the Sipadan-Kapalai-Mabul triangle twice but it is very remote and thus quite expensive to visit, as is Leyang Leyang. One cannot also "backpack" dive these locations but generally are limited to pricey dive/stay packages at the limited number of resorts there. There is also the cheaper option of staying in Semporna and diving local sites, which have some awesome marine life as well (and much cheaper).
Dude, I am from Sabah. I totally forgot Layang-Layang can actually scuba dive and could be one of the best of the best. damn! quite pricey though compare to your regular dive site. Hhhmm....*bucket list*
Layang-Layang is definitely a hidden gem! It might be a bit pricier, but the diving experience there is absolutely worth it. Adding it to your bucket list is a great idea-you won't be disappointed!

There is 1 thing why people dive in layang layang. Hammerheads. Of course there are other marine life. However, the drop is 2000 metres.
