I was able to set up everything perfectly but I also have a black screen after selecting the capture card. All ports are plugged in properly as well as being pulled into USB 3.0 ports. I am using the Elgato HD60 S+ trying to stream from my switch/tv. Would it be because the software isn't the same as the HD60 S?
That's a great question, if everything is plugged in correctly, then I'm not quite too sure on where the issue would be. As long as you're using Streamlabs OBS or OBS and input a video capture device then it should be okay. What I'd try doing is download the Elgato Game Software and see if you can get it running on that, then if that works you could simply just display capture / window capture the elgato software window or try to diagnose the problem from there :)

Do you have it open in any other applications when you try adding it?
My elgato isn’t popping us as an option under game capture/video capture
Are you using a USB 3.0 port?
@@CpawsMusic I think that was the issue I switched the cable connection and it seems to be much better than before
How do you capture your parties audio as well?
Hey Fawn! Which console are you trying to capture party audio from?
I’m wondering the same I’m on ps5
Oh I should had clicked "I'm a PC gamer" but I didn't even know what a capture card is... lmao
😂
my stream lags kinda bad! is it the hdmi? or my dell laptop? or something els maybe?
It could be your internet if it's just your stream! Do a speedtest and watch my video on the best streamlabs obs settings to try a fix the issue :)
@@CpawsMusicYea! it’s just the stream and I did watch the video and need to mess around more with settings. but I was wondering if a Ethernet cable would help/work???
@@CpawsMusic and thank you
@@OfficialGabeLive An ethernet cable is always a great first place to start! After doing that do a speedtest to check your internet strength to see what quality your stream can handle :)
but how do you play on that tiny screen in stream labs ?? And how to you hear your game sound? I'm so confused and I swear its going to be something super damn simple... >.
You can connect the HDMI Out from the capture card to a TV so that way you can play on a full screen TV. The game sound should automatically get sent to streamlabs when you connect your capture card :)
I seem to keep getting audio doubling when i try to stream, is there a discord or something where i can message someone about what may be wrong? I should add I am autistic so having stuff stick when I try and learn it is sometimes not easy for me.
Try reaching out to the elgato team and they can help ya :) www.elgato.com/en/contact
I have the elgato game capture hd and this is not working for me for some reason
Are you getting any errors or what are you experiencing?
How do I do it if my headset is a USB headset and I want to be able to talk in game as well
I'm actually not sure on that one. But this might be a good place to start: th-cam.com/video/eP-w4rlt61s/w-d-xo.html
Unless my shit is bugged, you have to have the Elgato Capture running too and it slows my stream down too much having both open 😭😭
If you use a video input capture then you shouldn't have to have the elgato game capture software running :)
Noww i just need my gameplay to show back up on my TV because the computer screen is now on it!
Do you have it setup correctly?
@@CpawsMusic Yea but i have 1 TV i was told that i need 2 monitors, is it a way to set it up without 2 monitors.
@@Globalleaks115 It's not ideal, but if you only have 1 monitor, you could connect the console to the capture card and then the capture card to your pc, then use a video capture device source and play off of that Streamlabs capture. Ideally, you're going to want 1 tv + 1 monitor or 2 monitors.
@@CpawsMusic Okay cool thank you, are you a streamer?
Hey, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but I can't seem to figure it out. So, I have done everything from the video but every time I plug in my headset to my controller. There is no audio coming from my El Gato. And I tried to plug in the El Gato chat link too, but nothing seems to work. The only thing that works is if I changed the output device to the TV.
not sure for that, but I'd recommend reaching out to elgatos support team and they'll have an answer for ya!
Im having the same issue did you ever get it figured out
I tried doing this but my capture is just a black screen. Any suggestions?
Are you using a 3.0 USB port?
@@CpawsMusic I actually figured it out. Had to reset the software. Thank you anyway though!
No sweat! Thanks for sharing the fix :)
Shout out to dis dude
Ayy much love!!
I hate to be a bother, but does all of this work the same with the HD60X?
Yup!
When I put my elgato on streamlabs I just keep getting a black box. The capturecard is capturing my consoles
Is your console turned on? Do you have another instance open at the same time like the elgato game capture software?
@@CpawsMusic to both questions, yes
@@jadenhodges8084 You can't have multiple instances open at the same time. Close the elgato game capture software and it'll work perfectly fine in the capture in streamlabs :)
@@CpawsMusic Now I feel stupid cause I've been trying to fix it. New problem is how can I hear the audio
@@jadenhodges8084 Double click the Video Capture Device Source and scroll down and enable custom audio device
What if it stays black and doesn't show the console screen on streamlabs?
Are you using a USB 3.0 port?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
You're very welcome :)
dude thankyou so much i count figure thi sout for the life of me XD
I gotchu fam :)
When I add the source, Elgato doesn't show up. Just my cameras.
Are you plugging in your Elgato into a USB 3.0 port?
Thank you!
Thanks for watching homie! :)
I did this and It was stuck on initializing, I was just on customer support for like 3 hours trying to get this fixed and am stumped.
He also said that my monitor needed to be set to 60fps because thats all the capture card could handle, is that the case? Can I not still have my monitor at 240 but only record it at 60fps? I have it like you were the hdmi is plugged in separately going into the capture card while I have a d port going to the monitor
@@zacharyrivera3924 Weird... honestly I'm not sure on that. But if someone else knows in the comments, feel free to chime in!
Set up capture card but no audio is coming out HELP 😂
double click the video capture device source and enable that custom/control audio button, then go to audio mixer > advanced audio properties > output and monitor
@@CpawsMusic absolute LEGEND 😍
When I click on “add source” the capture card doesn’t appear. Even when I click on the drop down after it’s still not there for some reason
I'd make sure you have all the drivers installed for your capture card and replug/restart your computer. then make sure your do add source>video capture device> then your capture card :)

Please help me idk what happened it was working and now it’s not
@@FoleyFadez Are you adding the capture card as a Video Input Device in Streamlabs? Also if you're using the Elgato Software to view the game, you can use a window capture in Streamlabs OBS of the Elgato Software as a workaround.
@@CpawsMusic yeah i was adding it as a video input device and it was just a black screen, i was trying to put my xbox on 120hz and i had the hd60s and it was just setting it back to 60 so i figured out i need the + but when i was playing around with the hz on the xbox it made the screen black and now w the plus it’s still black
is there a way to not have the bar on the bottom of the elgato software when i use the window capture
@@FoleyFadez You should be able to right click the elgato software window where the game is and click full screen I believe.

Do you have everything plugged in correctly? Do you have another capture going at the same time in another software?
I need help how can I make my videos look better
Turn up your bitrate :)
So I went to try this because I’ve been having issues I set everything up correctly each time and still a black screen rip, it’s coming up on my Xbox just not my Streamlabs or obs? I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in white lights came up and then a red light flashed , anyone know a fix for this issue ?
Are you plugging it into a USB 3.0 port? Also do you have the video capture open in any other software than streamlabs obs?
@@CpawsMusic how can you tell about 3.0 and 2.0 and I tried it on obs as well same issue I’m not too sure to be honest
@@TheRealFright Usually you can tell if it's 3.0 if it's blue. Otherwise you can check the make and model of your computer and look at the specs online to see :)
@@CpawsMusic so if it’s 2 my el gato is useless basically 😂
@@TheRealFright That specific model of the elgato only runs with 3.0 usb ports, but there's other capture cards out there that use 2.0, but I don't have any recommendations since USB 3.0 is the standard on most computers/laptops within the last several years
how can I hear the console audio
go to the audio source in the audio mixer and set it to monitor and output
I do that first thing my elgato doesn’t come out
make sure you don't have the elgato software open at the same time you're adding it to streamlabs
Do I need two hdmis so I can see it on my tele still @cpaws music
1 hdmi to connect to console and 1 hdmi for the TV:)
I did this for my pc and it looks really blurry
That's weird. Maybe try messing with the resolution or maybe your computer isn't strong enough to handle it?
what if i don’t have a usb 3.0?
Hey Bella! Then you can't use the capture card in the video. You can see if you can find one that works with usb 2.0. But I can't vouch for it.
@@CpawsMusic well that’s annoying lol cuz i have the capture card and i’m trying to use an apple laptop what if i got an adapter?
