- Does a re-scaled UI for mobiles or PCs make a good tablet UI? We think tablets are radically different types of devices that require new and unique UIs. Velvet is a playful cloth shader concept UI for MeeGo tablets by TAT and Wind River. With full support for 3D graphics and shaders, TAT Cascades enables astonishing UIs on MeeGo, Android and other tablet OSs.
The effect of crumpled rug :) I have the impression that it wants to exit the screen. But it looks very good.
This UI will keep me entertained for hours.
awesome! something fun and different. looks very smooth.
I think it is just a matter of foresight. The cloth type effects would look great the first few times. Then they would get annoying - providing the perception that you were waiting for the cool effect to finish just to get something done. Even if the animation timing is the same with or without the effect, would still provide the perception that it was preventing progressing.
Two things annoy me about this (but otherwise I think it is awesome)
1) When I draw my curtains, they do not get longer for a short length of time
and 2) I would want that effect to be a lot shorter for it still to be sweet.

Looks cool but some of the effects (mainly the pages waving around for a few seconds every time you move them) seem like they would hinder the user experience.
Imagin this - James Bond using this in his new phone. LOL.
Whatta UI :) Lovin' it...
This is the future
Ok. will you guys ever release it or what? What's the point of these demos if it will probably never be released?
I keep on seeing TAT put things out like this....BUT they never release it to the public.... When I see this stuff I dont even get excited anymore, because the chances of it being released are slim. Very very very gorgeous UI, but I'll be excited when there's a release date.....til then....it's just another teaser
這介面設計蠻酷的!!!!!
但有點好笑
感覺用起來很不滑溜 辛苦~
" 美觀就是了 "
The real question is will it blend?
I think you have missed TAT's business model - it is to sell to businesses like Samsung, Motorola, etc and these guys are using the technology powering this, it is currently shipping in every 8th phone worldwide. What you're looking at is a demonstration of what the technology can do, as well as inpiration material for the same companies. If you want this in your hands - call Samsung, LGE, Acer, and their likes...
RESPECT!!!!
@matrix2004 Man I so agree with you. At least SPB is living up to it....
@blazerart Your right... but I think you meant practicality no suitability.
@HokiesACC I'm one of those, having a smooth UI with nice transitions that make sense is one thing but completely overdoing is another.
This is completely overdoing the UI.
OMG its mine just release it
good work NOKIA
Sure it looks cool but it will take you three times longer to get where you want to.
Curtain UI?
In the future, all data will be printed on towels and hang on clotheslines.
For every person that calls something like this "fun" or "cool" there is another that thinks it's "dumb" or "pointless."
@GoronDavid I'm pretty sure most Windows 7/Vista users have Aero enabled on their machines. I challenge you to prove the opposite.
The whole industry all it does is copying the Apple UI team. Mac OS X had these kind of effects in 2000 already.
Another one of your gorgeous concept UIs which will never end up in real devices. This is why you lost the Android contract to Cooliris who will be designing the Gingerbread UI.... it's such a shame...
nokia does not like this idea ui on their phone, like a ui for teenagers
i like it
@johnnieares93 Why?
izi !!!
Girly.
Compiz!
its different. i wont say great, but too funky. nice for timepass. NOT for end users. way better than iphones/ipad interface. :P Its just a different and funny interface... best for KIDS to play with. :P
I got frustrated just watching this guy use this UI
Great UI, but. LAAAAAAAGS.....
@Centribo says the person who likes nokia!
haters gonna hate
omg
caralho q foda.
Terrible design, technically-speaking. Absurdly inefficient use of resources.
Hey MeeGo developers! Chuck Norris said he wants his prototype now!
