This saying about Bulus was attributed to: Shu`ayb Al-Jaba’i. So Ibn Kathir was quoting Shu`ayb Al-Jaba’i. Ibn Kathir has also quoted interpretations of different people as well. He says that according to Ibn Ishaq the names of these three were: Sadiq, Saduq and Shalum - can you see any Bulus between them? Anyway...another tafsir refutes this and says that according to the proceeding Qur’anic verses the people were destroyed. Some of the Imams were not sure that it was Antioch either. In the tafsir by Maududi we read :" according to the Bible; Antioch was the first city where the non-Israelites embraced Christianity in large numbers and where the Christian faith met with great success; whereas the habitation mentioned by the Qur'an was some such habitation which rejected the invitation of the messengers, and was consequently punished with a Divine torment. History also does not bear any evidence that Antioch was ever afflicted with a destruction, which might be regarded, as the result of denying the Prophethood. On account of these reasons it cannot be accepted that the `habitation" implies Antioch. The habitation has neither been clearly determined in the Qur'an nor in any authentic Hadith; the identity of the messengers also is not known through any authentic means nor the time when they were appointed. To understand the purpose for which the Qur'an is narrating this story here, it is not necessary to know the names of the habitation and the messengers. The object is to warn the Quraish, as if to say: `You arc following the same path of stubbornness, prejudice and denial of the truth as had been followed by the people of that habitation, and are preparing yourselves to meet the same doom as was met by them." Historically we know of many female Muslim scholars. Al-Shawkani writes: If you say that statement from Umar contains a flaw in Fatimah’s narration of his statement because we do not know whether a woman remembers or forgets, I say this itself is flawed and false by the absolute consensus of the Muslims. It has not been reported from any scholar that he rejected the report of a woman on the basis of her being a woman. The Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Let's survey four key areas: the founders of the two religions, the contrasting views of God, the sacred literature, and the means of salvation. We will see that Islam differs from Christianity in each of those four areas. _Islam and Christianity: Founders of the Religions_ Islam was founded by an Arab merchant named Muhammed about AD 622. Muhammed claimed to have received a revelation from an angel of God, and, although he initially feared his revelation had come from Satan, Muhammed later claimed to be the last and greatest of all of God’s prophets. Muhammed had eleven wives (although he limited other men to four wives apiece) and sanctioned the beating of wives (Sura 4:34). Muhammed was well known for spreading his new religion by force. He commanded, “Fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them” (Sura 9:5), and he specified the proper way to execute an unbeliever was to cut his throat (Sura 47:4). Muhammed led raids against caravans to plunder their goods, broke oaths, ordered the murder of those who mocked him, and wiped out the last Jewish tribe in Medina-he killed all the men and enslaved the women and children. Interestingly, Muhammed acknowledged his own need to seek God’s forgiveness on occasion (Sura 40:55). In stark contrast to the moral depravity of Muhammed, Jesus Christ was above reproach in every way (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus never married, He defended and honored women (John 8:1-11), and His law was “love one another” (John 13:34). Accordingly, Jesus never assassinated anyone, never beat a woman, never enslaved a child, never broke a promise, and never plundered a caravan. On the cross, when Jesus was mocked by those nearby, His response was, “Father, forgive them” (Luke 23:34). _Islam and Christianity: Views of God_ Islam teaches that Allah, or God, is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all that is. Muslims emphasize God’s absolute unity, which will admit of no division, and God’s will. In fact, the will of God is more basic to who He is than His love or mercy. God could choose not to be merciful, and He can choose not to love; thus, Allah’s mercy and love are not intrinsic to His nature but are choices He makes. More important than loving God-or even knowing Him-is submitting to His will. The word Islam means “submission.” According to Islam, God cannot be considered a “father” and He has no son. Allah does not love sinners (Surah 3:140). Similar to Islam, Christianity teaches that God is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all that is-but that is about where the similarity ends. Christians believe in one God who exists in three eternal, co-equal Persons (Father, Son, and Spirit) who share the same indivisible essence. According to Christianity, God loves because His very nature is love (1 John 4:8)-not just because He happens to choose to love. God’s essence includes the attribute of mercy, so divine displays of mercy are more than choices God makes; they are extensions of His character. God is knowable and desires a relationship with us based on love (Mark 12:30). Obeying God is important, but obedience without a relationship based on love is worthless (1 Corinthians 13:3). According to Christianity, God the Father has an eternal relationship with God the Son. God does love sinners (Romans 5:8). _Islam and Christianity: Sacred Literature_ Islam holds that the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament), the Psalms, and the Gospels were given by God-with this caveat: Jews and Christians have corrupted God’s Word and therefore Bibles cannot be fully trusted. Muslims believe that God’s final Word, the Qur’an, was miraculously given to Muhammed over a period of twenty-three years. The Qur’an, which is perfect and holy, is divided into 114 chapters called suras. In addition to the Qur’an, the Muslims have the Hadith, a collection of Muhammed’s sayings, opinions, and actions as reported by those close to him. Biblical Christianity holds that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are God’s inspired Word and the only authoritative rule of faith and practice. The Bible warns against adding to God’s Word (Revelation 22:18); Christians reject the Qur’an as an attempted addition to God’s Word and as a document that contradicts the Bible in many ways. _Islam and Christianity: Means of Salvation_ Islam teaches a works-based salvation and in this way is similar to other man-made religions. A Muslim must keep the five pillars of Islam: he must confess the shahadah (“there is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his prophet”); he must kneel in prayer toward Mecca five times a day; he must fast during the daylight hours one month of the year (Ramadan); he must give money to the poor; and he must make a pilgrimage to Mecca sometime in his lifetime. Islam teaches that the day of judgment will involve a person’s good and bad deeds being weighed in a balance-so the standard for judgment is one’s own actions (Surah 7:8-9; 21:47). The Qur’an forbids anyone from bearing another’s burden of sin (Surah 17:15; 35:18) and pointedly denies the death of Jesus (or Isa) on the cross (Surah 3:55; 4:157-158). If you will be saved, you must save yourself. Christianity teaches a grace-based salvation. A person is saved by the grace (the undeserved blessing) of God, through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10). The standard for judgment is absolute perfection-the righteousness of Christ. No one can measure up to perfection (Romans 3:23), but God in His grace and mercy has given His Son as the substitute for our sin: “When you were dead in your sins . . . God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 1:13-14). We cannot save ourselves, so we turn to Christ, our sinless Savior and the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Islam and Christianity, having different beliefs on essential doctrines such as God, Jesus, Scripture, and salvation, are irreconcilable. Both religions cannot be true. We believe that Jesus Christ, as presented in the Bible, is the true Son of God and Savior of mankind. “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

One thing I know. From what I experienced when I was living a life from sin and going through hard times, I began to know what it meant to be a true follower of Jesus. Someone who finally understood me. Someone who was always there for me. My whole life was changed. I tried to look at the point of Islam. What about the passage in the Bible where it says Man is the head of Woman, Jesus is the head of Man, and God is the head of Jesus. How can God be the head if Jesus if Jesus is God himself? Also the bible has multiple verses that speak of Jesus speaking/praying to God and even asking God questions. But the reason Christianity exist is because of Christ and his resurrection. To my assurance i can say that those who convert from other religions to Christianity have testimonies on a spiritual level, not just emotion or the feeling of peace, it goes so much deeper. There are many secret Christians in Muslim dominated countries or of other dominated religions. Many underground Christians in unsafe countries. One might ask why they're taking risks? Well, because they've encountered God deeply and as i read their stories it's amazing how they get complete revival Many Christians who converts to other religion is because they don't have the Holy Spirit. Because once you really get into an intimate relationship with God, your life will never be the same. I assure you. well let's look at 3 factors for this 1. (The reliability) so ofc both holy books are fascinating pieces of scripture with both beautiful and controversial verses, however if we look at what each one says about jesus you realize that the Quran denies his divinity and crucifixion despite coming 600 years after Jesus, the gospels on the other hand are written by eye witness accounts and have had multiple scholars confirm their reliability and accuracy, making it far more plausible to believe the gospels over the Quran. 3. (The way to heaven) you see it's very clear that we as a human species are nowhere near good enough to stand before an almighty God, we sin, we mess up, we make mistakes, we do evil things, so it's more likely we need a saviour for that, islam is all about rules and certain things that outweigh your bad, whereas christianity recognizes that no one is good enough and so we need a sacrifice that Jesus made to save us "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father except through me." Now of course it's entirely up to you to look into both religions and decide what one fits for you, but to me personally there is no way other than Jesus and I hope that you will be able to choose the right path and enter paradise, amen brother!

The name Bulus is not an opinion of Ibn Kathir, rather, if you had no problems with reading with comprehension you would have noticed that, Ibn Kathir actually quotes opinion of someone else. This saying about Bulus was attributed to: Shu`ayb Al-Jaba’i. So Ibn Kathir was quoting Shu`ayb Al-Jaba’i. Ibn Kathir has also quoted interpretations of different people as well. He says that according to Ibn Ishaq the names of these three were: Sadiq, Saduq and Shalum - can you see any Bulus between them? Anyway...another tafsir refutes this and says that according to the proceeding Qur’anic verses the people were destroyed. Some of the Imams were not sure that it was Antioch either. In the tafsir by Maududi we read :" according to the Bible; Antioch was the first city where the non-Israelites embraced Christianity in large numbers and where the Christian faith met with great success; whereas the habitation mentioned by the Qur'an was some such habitation which rejected the invitation of the messengers, and was consequently punished with a Divine torment. History also does not bear any evidence that Antioch was ever afflicted with a destruction, which might be regarded, as the result of denying the Prophethood.
On account of these reasons it cannot be accepted that the `habitation" implies Antioch.
The habitation has neither been clearly determined in the Qur'an nor in any authentic Hadith; the identity of the messengers also is not known through any authentic means nor the time when they were appointed. To understand the purpose for which the Qur'an is narrating this story here, it is not necessary to know the names of the habitation and the messengers. The object is to warn the Quraish, as if to say: `You arc following the same path of stubbornness, prejudice and denial of the truth as had been followed by the people of that habitation, and are preparing yourselves to meet the same doom as was met by them." End quote .

*What is the difference between Christianity and Islam?*
While some similarities exist between Islam and Christianity (they are both monotheistic religions, for example), their differences are clear-cut, significant, and irreconcilable. Let's survey four key areas: the founders of the two religions, the contrasting views of God, the sacred literature, and the means of salvation. We will see that Islam differs from Christianity in each of those four areas.
_Islam and Christianity: Founders of the Religions_
Islam was founded by an Arab merchant named Muhammed about AD 622. Muhammed claimed to have received a revelation from an angel of God, and, although he initially feared his revelation had come from Satan, Muhammed later claimed to be the last and greatest of all of God’s prophets. Muhammed had eleven wives (although he limited other men to four wives apiece) and sanctioned the beating of wives (Sura 4:34). Muhammed was well known for spreading his new religion by force. He commanded, “Fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them” (Sura 9:5), and he specified the proper way to execute an unbeliever was to cut his throat (Sura 47:4). Muhammed led raids against caravans to plunder their goods, broke oaths, ordered the murder of those who mocked him, and wiped out the last Jewish tribe in Medina-he killed all the men and enslaved the women and children. Interestingly, Muhammed acknowledged his own need to seek God’s forgiveness on occasion (Sura 40:55).
In stark contrast to the moral depravity of Muhammed, Jesus Christ was above reproach in every way (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus never married, He defended and honored women (John 8:1-11), and His law was “love one another” (John 13:34). Accordingly, Jesus never assassinated anyone, never beat a woman, never enslaved a child, never broke a promise, and never plundered a caravan. On the cross, when Jesus was mocked by those nearby, His response was, “Father, forgive them” (Luke 23:34).
_Islam and Christianity: Views of God_
Islam teaches that Allah, or God, is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all that is. Muslims emphasize God’s absolute unity, which will admit of no division, and God’s will. In fact, the will of God is more basic to who He is than His love or mercy. God could choose not to be merciful, and He can choose not to love; thus, Allah’s mercy and love are not intrinsic to His nature but are choices He makes. More important than loving God-or even knowing Him-is submitting to His will. The word Islam means “submission.” According to Islam, God cannot be considered a “father” and He has no son. Allah does not love sinners (Surah 3:140).
Similar to Islam, Christianity teaches that God is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all that is-but that is about where the similarity ends. Christians believe in one God who exists in three eternal, co-equal Persons (Father, Son, and Spirit) who share the same indivisible essence. According to Christianity, God loves because His very nature is love (1 John 4:8)-not just because He happens to choose to love. God’s essence includes the attribute of mercy, so divine displays of mercy are more than choices God makes; they are extensions of His character. God is knowable and desires a relationship with us based on love (Mark 12:30). Obeying God is important, but obedience without a relationship based on love is worthless (1 Corinthians 13:3). According to Christianity, God the Father has an eternal relationship with God the Son. God does love sinners (Romans 5:8).
_Islam and Christianity: Sacred Literature_
Islam holds that the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament), the Psalms, and the Gospels were given by God-with this caveat: Jews and Christians have corrupted God’s Word and therefore Bibles cannot be fully trusted. Muslims believe that God’s final Word, the Qur’an, was miraculously given to Muhammed over a period of twenty-three years. The Qur’an, which is perfect and holy, is divided into 114 chapters called suras. In addition to the Qur’an, the Muslims have the Hadith, a collection of Muhammed’s sayings, opinions, and actions as reported by those close to him.
Biblical Christianity holds that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are God’s inspired Word and the only authoritative rule of faith and practice. The Bible warns against adding to God’s Word (Revelation 22:18); Christians reject the Qur’an as an attempted addition to God’s Word and as a document that contradicts the Bible in many ways.
_Islam and Christianity: Means of Salvation_
Islam teaches a works-based salvation and in this way is similar to other man-made religions. A Muslim must keep the five pillars of Islam: he must confess the shahadah (“there is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his prophet”); he must kneel in prayer toward Mecca five times a day; he must fast during the daylight hours one month of the year (Ramadan); he must give money to the poor; and he must make a pilgrimage to Mecca sometime in his lifetime. Islam teaches that the day of judgment will involve a person’s good and bad deeds being weighed in a balance-so the standard for judgment is one’s own actions (Surah 7:8-9; 21:47). The Qur’an forbids anyone from bearing another’s burden of sin (Surah 17:15; 35:18) and pointedly denies the death of Jesus (or Isa) on the cross (Surah 3:55; 4:157-158). If you will be saved, you must save yourself.
Christianity teaches a grace-based salvation. A person is saved by the grace (the undeserved blessing) of God, through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10). The standard for judgment is absolute perfection-the righteousness of Christ. No one can measure up to perfection (Romans 3:23), but God in His grace and mercy has given His Son as the substitute for our sin: “When you were dead in your sins . . . God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 1:13-14). We cannot save ourselves, so we turn to Christ, our sinless Savior and the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Islam and Christianity, having different beliefs on essential doctrines such as God, Jesus, Scripture, and salvation, are irreconcilable. Both religions cannot be true. We believe that Jesus Christ, as presented in the Bible, is the true Son of God and Savior of mankind. “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

One thing I know. From what I experienced when I was living a life from sin and going through hard times, I began to know what it meant to be a true follower of Jesus. Someone who finally understood me. Someone who was always there for me. My whole life was changed. I tried to look at the point of Islam. The bible reveals this secret many times. In genesis 1 God creates the heavens and the earth. Then in the next verses we see the Spirit of God hovering over the waters( the spirit of God enters creation) then we see God create all living things including Adam. Then we see God walking in the garden and talking to Adam. Then later in genesis we see God appear to Abraham in the form of a man. Abraham invites him in and bring water for him to wash his feet and food for him to eat (The Son enters creation).. God is accompanied by 2 angels also in the form of men who proceed to sodom and Gomorrah to destroy the cities. There after we read it reported that, then God who was on earth at the location of sodom and Gomorrah rained fire and brimstone from God in heaven! So here it is clear that God is on earth and in heaven at the same time. God who was on earth rained fire and brimstone from God in heaven. It’s clear. Now we know that the God described on earth can enter creation and interact with creation. This is The Son (who later entered creation as Jesus). Any time you see God interacting with creation it’s the Son. The Father cannot be seen or interact with man in our fallen state or we would perish immediately.. no one has seen The Father.
Now back to my analogy of mind body and spirit. The Father would be your Mind/ The Son would be your Body/ The Holy Spirit would be your Spirit.. What about the passage in the Bible where it says Man is the head of Woman, Jesus is the head of Man, and God is the head of Jesus. How can God be the head if Jesus if Jesus is God himself? Also the bible has multiple verses that speak of Jesus speaking/praying to God and even asking God questions. So obviously God is Jesus's father (creator)

Not sure why this addition was not under review at some point or another, because John is rather questionable, as it has statements in it that contradict the other 3 gospels. It's clear that different communities held varying views on the man Jesus (likely due to geographic region and associated access to other texts or sources of information). But to take this book as part of canon appears to be dubious.

I am honestly scared people are saying Christianity is correct others are saying Muslims are correct, but how am I supposed to know? It is literally my entire salvation at stake here, I do not want to burn forever. I wish God made it more clear so I was able to know for a fact which religion is correct.

I'm a Christian but I watch a lot Muslim related videos too since it says Jesus is not God. But the reason Christianity exist is because of Christ and his resurrection. To my assurance i can say that those who convert from other religions to Christianity have testimonies on a spiritual level, not just emotion or the feeling of peace, it goes so much deeper. There are many secret Christians in Muslim dominated countries or of other dominated religions. Many underground Christians in unsafe countries. One might ask why they're taking risks? Well, because they've encountered God deeply and as i read their stories it's amazing how they get complete revival
Many Christians who converts to other religion is because they don't have the Holy Spirit. Because once you really get into an intimate relationship with God, your life will never be the same. I assure you.
Keep seeking God, dont let anyone decide for you, dont listen to your emotions, take your time, don't decide without being sure and i highly recommend you to watch the videos on my playlists. I pray that God will help you to understand and find Jesus soon
well let's look at 3 factors for this
1. (The founders) you see Jesus taught us to love others and be kind honest god loving men and women, he remained celibate and taught husbands and wives to love each other. Now if we look at what Muhammad taught we do find some good values but he also did things like persecute jews and christians, kill dogs, own slaves, have 11 wives (including a 6 year old) and was very violent and loved war.
2. (The reliability) so ofc both holy books are fascinating pieces of scripture with both beautiful and controversial verses, however if we look at what each one says about jesus you realize that the Quran denies his divinity and crucifixion despite coming 600 years after Jesus, the gospels on the other hand are written by eye witness accounts and have had multiple scholars confirm their reliability and accuracy, making it far more plausible to believe the gospels over the Quran.
3. (The way to heaven) you see it's very clear that we as a human species are nowhere near good enough to stand before an almighty God, we sin, we mess up, we make mistakes, we do evil things, so it's more likely we need a saviour for that, islam is all about rules and certain things that outweigh your bad, whereas christianity recognizes that no one is good enough and so we need a sacrifice that Jesus made to save us "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father except through me."
Now of course it's entirely up to you to look into both religions and decide what one fits for you, but to me personally there is no way other than Jesus and I hope that you will be able to choose the right path and enter paradise, amen brother!
