Thank you! Looks like someone at the shop left the vacuum pump unplugged after some diagnostics on my truck and your video showed me exactly where to look so I didn't have to bring it back in!
Thanks for the great video! I was fixing to tear in under the dash to look for electric actuators (since the diesel doesn't create vacuum). Saved me much time and unneeded frustration!!
My 2000 Expy doing same thing on vacation. One if those 1/8 lines broke at the 45 degree connector. Used some silicone vacuum line to replace the 45 connector and now works fine. Mine was the line coming from the vacuum tank to inside the car, next to battery. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video, mine is not switching off defrost to vents on max air, every once in a while it will but then goes back to defrost the next time I start the truck, 2000 F-250 with a 7.3 diesel. I will check this tomorrow
I had the same problem with the air conditioner only blowing out the defrost for my 2000 ford f250 7.3. After replacing the vacuum pump, it worked great!
Very helpful video. Mine started doing the same thing after I changed the pump. After watching this video I double checked and when I pushed the plug into the new pump I bent over one of the prongs. Straightened it out and works like new. Thanks
GREAT video! Informative and not filled with lots of chatter, i.e., what your wife made you for dinner last night or tales of your fishing trip over the weekend. Lol!
Great fix video. I am surprised Ford put the pump in a position to make it fairly easy to replace. Normally they put things like that behind the dash or just above the automatic transmission. Thanks for sharing the process. Stay safe.
The 7.3 was back in the day when they actually made things easy to work on. These days they don't want you working on anything yourself so they hire freaking rocket scientists to design the cars!
Thank you for this video! I do pretty much everything myself but I just wasn't completely sure where to start with this. Based off your video I started with a few taps on the vacuum system then tried it and still no air. Then I went to the fuse box and just checked every fuse, I mean there's only like 15 of them. None of the fuses looked bad but I did change a couple of them out that appeared to be very old, most likely even original! I've been put everything back together and started the truck and voila, I had air coming out of my front vents again. I own a lawn care business and I was smack dab in the middle of a very hot day and this repair took me about 5 minutes. Thanks again!
Im needing help. My vacuum pump wont kick off. Ive replaced it with 2 new ones and they both do the same things. I took the vacuum line off the pump and put my finger over it and it will not shut off
Just checked mine the pump will run but never shuts off, if I unplug the suction line going to the pump and hold my finger over the hole the pump shuts off like it has made enough vacuum. Also if I add a hose to the line that controls the defroster and suck on it it will go from defrost to vents. Not sure how much suction this pump is supposed to have, all other lines checked and are crack free. The pump has very weak suction, not at all like a gas engine manifold would have.
I was just testing to be sure I had fire at the pump first and when I seen it had none at that point i knew i either had a broken wire or a fuse blown. Luckily it was a fuse. After i knew i had 12 volts at the plug when I plugged it in it didn’t make a sound and that told me the pump was bad, if it would have buzzed for a split second then quit I would have checked it to see what voltage was there but the pump wouldn’t even engage for a 1/10 of a second.
Just watched your video…sounds exactly what my problem is. Mine is almost violently shaking….should it do that? Or does it mean it’s bad? Don’t want to spend 100$ if it’s not the problem. Thanks
So I have this issue of heat and/or A/C blowing out of defrost. 99 F250 SD 7.3. The fuse is fine and the vacuum makes a continuous noise when I put key in on position. In fact it makes this noise as long as the key is in on position. I’ve watched vids saying if it’s not the vacuum pump then it’s likely the egr vacuum solenoid. Or the vacuum reservoir??? How can I distinguish the culprit without replacing them 1 at a time?
On the older model Ford trucks, the first place I used to look was those damn brittle vacuum lines. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred it was going to be a brittle vacuum line, especially on the 7.3's with the turbo. That turbo gets hot and all that plastic on that quadrant of the engine bay will get brittle. I hated seeing those fuse boxes with all the added accessories too, all those aftermarket add-ons are nothing but trouble most of the time.
I have a 99 E350 ext now where that blower motot gose in My houseing has falling down from top how and why this has happen no clue and Just how to ho about a fix for this I used some foam I had but now with all new AC An blower motor That are working I get nothing from blower no Air but I hear all working
I have a f250 2005 and my problem is when you push the gas pedal the ac blown to the windshield and when you stop the car the ac go back to the normal position I don’t know what is the problem
I have 06 F250 xl 5.4l engine. I have the same problem I looked under the hood on the passenger side of the engine bay and there is no vacuum pump. I looked for it everywhere. When I tried searching for the part I got this part may not fit your vehicle which makes me wonder if it has one at all.
I have not figured out the issue this video is for a diesel engine and it's setup is different something that would have been helpful for them to mention.
He really did not tear anything apart. He opened the hood and checked wire continuity, which takes about 30 seconds then he went straight to the fuse box. His video is only a couple of minutes long. I'm not quite sure what part of the video you are seeing where he tore everything apart? You sound like a very pessimistic person.
Thank you! Looks like someone at the shop left the vacuum pump unplugged after some diagnostics on my truck and your video showed me exactly where to look so I didn't have to bring it back in!
My 2000 F250 started doing this last week. I was worried it would be something very complex. Great video. Thanks for saving my day and wallet.

Thanks man! Just got my 2006 f250 with this problem. New vacuum pump fixed it.
I was going to replace the blended door actuator on my 2006. Now I might switch it up to the pump instead since that fixed your problem
thanks for the great video! i’m having the same issue with my 1999 e250. i’m going to try the steps you showed in the video and i hope i can fix it
GREAT video! Informative and not filled with lots of chatter, i.e., what your wife made you for dinner last night or tales of your fishing trip over the weekend. Lol!

Awesome Thanks. Mine was just a busted vacuum line 👍
Thanks for the video
thank you!!! I fixed my truck in just a few minutes.
Great video as always, it seems like parts stores sometimes try to slow the job down by not bringing all the parts at one time!
Thanks for the video brother. Took me right to the problem, blown fuse.
Im needing help. My vacuum pump wont kick off. Ive replaced it with 2 new ones and they both do the same things. I took the vacuum line off the pump and put my finger over it and it will not shut off
My vacuum pump works but it only blows out defrost changed blower motor and checked the pump etc is it my panel inside the truck?
Ole good time ford fix
Thanks for showing this.
What of it blows out of the vents sometimes and sometimes barely or not at all

I have a 6.0 what is the fuse called my pump is new but looking for that fuse name please
Should you test for power and ground with it plugged in? To make sure it doesn’t drop current under a load, like a short? Great vid clay!

Hope some one can give pointerson just what Happen. Thanks and I do need help on this one.
Just wondering if this issue is my alone. Or has there been any one else that this . say housing Has fallon off .like the top of firewall. ?
Great repair video

I have a 2000 f250sd & have black stuff comming out ot middle heater vent. Whats up with this
Great video! What are the testers you used an prices?
It is the snap on EECT200 or 400 i can’t remember off hand. The other is a monster. The monster was about $50 and the snap on about $80

I have the same problem
Same issue , I replaced the vacuum pump and didn’t fix tho 😢

I have a 1990 model and we had to redo the vacuum lines on it. They just crumbled to pieces
My 02 lines evaporated. Dust.

Diesel usually. Never seen one on a gasser
Did you figure out the problem?? I’m having the same issue ?
I have the same problem. Did you figure it out?
I have not figured out the issue this video is for a diesel engine and it's setup is different something that would have been helpful for them to mention.
I would check your heater core system first. Gassers draw a vacuum while operating unlike diesels. That’s why these diesel trucks have a vacuum pump.
Good to know always cheak the simple things first
Does it effect hear and a.c..mines is both
How the hell do you get the damn pump back mounted 😂
Thank you for sharing!
this does not work on the f 250 lariat. more in depth is damaged vacuum hoses ant the fire wall switches next to the blower. amazon ha parts.
and has parts
That’s the exact mileage mine went out on! 214,000
I’m surprised the ford pump was made in USA. 👍
Thanks Klay! I got a 6.0 with the same problem.
That should help you fix it
Same here, Thanks a-million times
I don't have this on my v10.
Same.gas v10 trying to figure out what to do
Gas engine uses vacuum from engine, diesel having a turbo needs an electric vacuum pump.
Dang it, your fast cooter.
Cooter is the man !
Great video have a great one and stay safe 👍
I want that tool, I need to get my $438.95 ready for Mr. Hamilton on Friday.
I think it’s about $60-70
👍👍👍👍👍
💯💪🏿
Typical mechanic, tears apart everything before checking for a bad fuse. Wonder how many hours he billed this customer???

@@hustleeveryday6582you sound pessimistic. Dude was doing what we call making a joke. Bet you're a lot of fun at parties.
@@randystanton1224doesn't seem like a joke to me.
Be careful probing like that. You can spread the terminals.
