  • ‪@RYOBITOOLSUSA‬ has released the monster 18v 12ah HP battery! This thing is massive and that means, yes, we are testing it! Does the performance justify the cost? Let's find out!

    Put one of these batteries on your drill/driver and another on your impact driver, then use them as dumbbells for your weight training.

    That will work nicely with the new 5 gallon bucket top shop vacuum. Long cleaning session.

    There's a hyper charger that will charge those bigger batteries faster. If i remember correctly, the hyper charger should be capable of charging the 12ah battery to 80% in 30 or 60 minutes.

    Man I can’t wait to get some I have like 50+ of the tools. I own a detail shop and have a few of their big lights fans and shop vacs I use for mobile jobs and other tools that are used stationary. These will be awesome for those type of things.

  • @sooperdan

    I have 2 9Ah batteries and I love those for my little string trimmer, that new big battery is going to be awesome

  • @james2042
    @james2042 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    I could see this being used for the HP blower or 18v expand-it line, also things like the big air canon fan or 18v chainsaws, recip saws or the big table saw or miter saw. Also they'd go well in the shop vacs and house vacs. 2 of these would go great in their battery cooler or the 18v mower that runs a 36v motor, or the dethatcher that runs the same setup.
    If you want a very very expensive and silly looking power station I guess the 18v battery station with 8 of these would have 1728ah of battery capacity, but at that point youre at 2500 dollars and should be looking into something like an ecoflow delta that'll be more like 1800 dollars

    • @sal.m2A
      @sal.m2A 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      delta doesnt have replaceable batteries

    • @james2042

      @@sal.m2A neither does the ryobi 1800w unit that doesnt have socketable batteries.

    • @sal.m2A
      @sal.m2A 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You seem to get the math better than I do. To compare apples to apples. How many ah are the ecoflow? The 18v Ryobi with all 6ah or 12ah , the Ryobi sealed
      Is amp hours the proper variable? Or watt hours? Either way id love to see the numbers across all 3

    • @james2042
      @james2042 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sal.m2A The formula is very simple to convert ah to Wh provided you know the voltage. It's voltage (v) x amphour (ah) x battery count. The 40v batteries are actually 36v batteries for reference (same for any other 40v brand), so 8 12ah 18v batteries and 4 40v 12ah batteries would net you the same 1728Wh, and the closed system is rated for 1050~Wh
      an ecoflow 2 on its own gets 2048Wh for 1899usd and you can connect a second auxiliary battery to add 1024wh (799usd) or 2048wh (1299usd) and ecoflow uses lfp batteries in the delta series, which are much more durable, but not as light or compact lithium batteries. This unit can also output 2400w continuous over ryobi's 1800w continuous (and thats ONLY if you have 4 18v or 2 40v batteries)
      I have a bunch of ryobi 18v tools and a few 40v tools, and im speaking out against the power banks because they're wicked overpriced. The 150w 18v and 300w 40v things are cool tho for an outlet on the go, the 18v one, if they'd sell as a tool only, would make a phenomenal camping companion combined with a usb solar panel to keep your phone alive

    • @sal.m2A
      @sal.m2A 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree they are over priced. I think in a year or so when they start going on sale it will be much my tempting. Especially when the 12ah bats drop in price I intend to build into a camper trailer when they have generator restrictions during the night so ideally the 8 12ah will last me the night the in am when I can use gen I can charge batteries and run mic and coffee

  • @jasonbroom7147

    The only place those enormous batteries might make sense is with the 18v AC inverter tools Ryobi sells. The problem is, those are FAR more expensive than a small portable power station, using a lithium iron-phosphate battery. The cost-per-watt-hour is way too high.

    Ever notice that the 4 and 6 AH batteries are the same size?

    • @VictorNomura
      @VictorNomura หลายเดือนก่อน

      They both (4ah and 6ah packs) use 2 sets of 5 18650 cells for a total of 10 cells each. What gives the 6ah version more capacity is that each cell in the 6ah model has a higher capacity of 3ah each. The 4ah pack uses 2ah cells. Depending on each cell construction, you can cram more active chemicals inside by using thinner membranes etc. The downside of higher capacity cells is that their lifetime change/ discharge cycles is lower. It's not drastically lower and people won't notice.

    I think the 12 will be good for like the table saw or some of their big tools , i bought their new 6ah and its very compact for small tool like my brad nailer or screw gun, also the fast chager works better with big batteries

    Why isn't anyone comparing it to the previous Ryobi king, the 9Ah HP battery? I don't actually care how it compares to a 6Ah or smaller. I have 4 9Ah that I use for my big tools. I'd like to know how these stack up to real power. Let's face it, even a 3Ah is a better comparison than any of these others. At least those have 21700 cells.
