    Cheers for the reference. That bike you’re on has been slightly modded with a ‘Comfort’ seat and the higher handlebars from a different Scrambler model - but they are meant to be modded like that. The Termignoni shotgun exhaust is unique/standard to that particular version. They can do the miles as I’ve proved but there’s a reason why people use proper touring bikes for the job, bigger fuel range being one big reason. The rattley noise you can hear at high revs is the Desmo valve system in the front cylinder head between your knees.
    It goes without saying I absolutely love my Scrambler and will never get rid of it. Not after everything I’ve already put the poor thing through.

    • @chrisdavidson911
      @chrisdavidson911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when you say fuel range, is that due to small tank size, or do you find the mpg plummets once you're around freeway/motorway speeds?

    • @DaveMurphyEngineer
      @DaveMurphyEngineer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chris davidson Small tank size (13.5 litres) gets you around 125 miles (200km) until the fuel light comes on - around 90 minutes of motorway pace riding. The big touring bikes generally have an 18-20 litre tank so will do around 200 miles to the light. The gearing is also really short on the standard sprockets. 80mph/130kmh is around 6000rpm and the bike’s pretty much revved out at 8k, so you’re really thrashing the engine using it on the motorway too, so it’s probably a bit of both.

    • @chrisdavidson911
      @chrisdavidson911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaveMurphyEngineer that's higher rpm than i was expecting, thought it'd be at most around 50% of redline!

    • @DaveMurphyEngineer
      @DaveMurphyEngineer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chris davidson Yeah, That bottom end punch is really helped by silly short gearing, which is also why (as Spicy commented) it’s really jerky on the throttle at slower speeds.

      @@DaveMurphyEngineer so the bikes not really that good for cummuting when the commute involves some highway ? i like to do 90mph quite often but i do have to go through some country lanes too on my journey to work

    I must say I love my scrambler....... I have put a small screen on it and it makes motorways more bearable.......
    But in the twisties it’s awesome ...... ride safe mate😎👍🏻

    • @chrisdavidson911
      @chrisdavidson911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spicy saying it's jerky and you have to be smooth, does it have multi-mode settings (rain, normal, sport, for example) on the throttle?

    • @buggerlugs7007
      @buggerlugs7007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      chris davidson no it’s pretty basic you get abs..... the new 1100 scrambler has all the electronic gadgets and rider modes and yes the early 800 cc models have a very sensitive throttle
      I sorted mine out using a G2 throttle tamer from the US, and now it’s a lot easier to control at slower speeds
      I’ve also heard that if you change the front sprocket from 16 teeth to 15 teeth then this also helps a lot however you then loose a lot of the hooligan fun factor...... hope this helps RSM8😎👍🏻

    I own a 2016 urban enduro model and i love it!
    It has the looks, it is more than powerfull enough (and it‘s a blast to ride here in the swiss alps) and it has the sound!
    I have a mivv slip on and it sound sooooo gooooood
    Put the original heated grips on and there you go
    Perfect for commuting and very nice for a weekend trip

    The high frequency rattling sound is just the Desmodromic valve train, it's just quite loud on the 2V air cooled motors.

  • @RoadRashHD
    @RoadRashHD 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm surprised for a scambler it did not come with 80/20 tires to take it green laning . It is more like a street fighter now with those road tires

    • @DaveMurphyEngineer
      @DaveMurphyEngineer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Road Rash HD It comes on Pirelli MT60RS tyres (18” front wheel too) which are road biased, but capable of some light off-roading. I took mine around the desert and it never struggled except in deep, super-fine sand. For the UK that would translate as suitable for lighter green lanes, but not mud-plugging. A lot of owners wanting to off-road fit Pirelli Scorpions but it’s a heavy bike with mediocre ground clearance, so not the best tool for the job.

    @MrSlowestD16 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I test rode one at a demo day and didn't like it. The throttle was so poorly tuned and very snatchy on/off. I wonder if I was too hard on it, though, I want to give it another go at some point..

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I ride a 440cc single carbureted supermoto so that feel is pretty normal to me, but as i mentioned with all that extra power it can be snatchy, just takes some finishing of controls to manage.

    • @ILoveNeeps
      @ILoveNeeps 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSlowestD16 Installing a pair of o2 sensor eliminators (cost £25-£30) will fix the issue, all modern 2 cylinder bikes are pretty snatchy however the old aircooled ducati's suffer the most due to the 2V per cylinder head setup (more valve overlap is required for top end performance on a 2V cylinder head) which required even leaner fueling off throttle and in the closed loop to meet the euro standards.
