  • This is my honest test ride of the Ducati Scrambler Icon 800 model 2018. I truly enjoyed this experience and hopefully I will have the chance to spend more time with the bike soon and record proper in-depth review.

    Starting to sound like the perfect bike: Ducati, twin, air-cooled, plenty of power, not overweight, Scrambler styling.

    Do you like this bike better than the XSR700 etc?
    Very good review.

      These bikes are different but right now I would choose Ducati. But only in case I would make it higher, so the Desert Sled would be best fit.

    honest opinion please, is the ducati scrambler 800 icon 2019 better overall than the triumph street twin 2019 as everyday, light offroad use , investment and maintenance wise ??

    What about the seat? Seen some videos saying its unconfortable...

      I have really only short experience with this bike so it is difficult to say for me. When you ride 2 hours, it is ok. I will hopefully record more in-depth review soon. Thanks.

      Yes it is not comfortable for riding more than 2 hours. Options available from Ducati Performance or after market. Have been riding 6 different Ducati bikes since 2005 and none of it has comfortable seat for long ride, so replacement seats is the answer.

      Wonderful review and sums up this bike pretty accurately. I own this very same bike and regularly ride 3-3 1/2 hours at a time, with 30 minutes rest before continuing. My wife owns a Sixty2 and we just completed a 200 mile round trip from LA to Ojai, CA this past weekend and spent just over 6 1/2 hours in the saddle. 3 1/2 hours to get to Ojai via mostly back roads, with an hour break for breakfast, then 3 hours back down the coast home. Granted, we've done a LOT of riding on our Scramblers and the seats have been broken in pretty good; but, still, for what it's worth these are VERY comfortable for what they are. I own a Vstrom 1000 for longer distances and, really, I prefer my Icon in all but the worst conditions (wind isn't a friend of Scramblers, even with the pitiful windscreen options). BUT, the fun factor is off the hook and we are going to ride CA Route 36 this fall to really stretch the bikes.

    Nice review! hey can you tell me what the radiator in the scrambler is for if it's an air cooled engine? That's something that's been bothering me for quite a while

    • @JFMotorcycles
      @JFMotorcycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello :) The engine is partly cooled by oil as well so that is why it needs to be cooled by radiator. Same as for example on classic air-cooled Yamaha XJR 1300. Thank you for your comment.

    The Scrambler WAS on my short list for my next bike, until I read about all of the early clutch failures on the Scrambler forum. Can anyone advise if Ducati has changed the clutch in recent years? If not, I am staying FAR away.

      My Scrambler Classic's clutch failed when the odo approaching 4000km. Replaced under Warranty Claim, and now my odo is approaching 10000km with no problems.

      That's honestly a new information for me... I am going to do some research online what's going on with clutches on 800 Scramblers. Thank you!

    • @DondyTan
      @DondyTan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you should also check with 'honest' Ducati's showroom guy who know anything on the Warranty Claim issues.
      FYI, Ducati has been reducing cost by switching to cheaper part supplier due to global purchase. Other than clutch, my Classic's power ignition switch also has problem and replaced since they are buying the switches from Indian supplier. Even after replaced it still has problem and after I did minor modification, my switch now works normal.

      Hi Pavel. I did an in-depth review of the Triumph Street Scrambler here: th-cam.com/video/HxC4fs3wtY0/w-d-xo.html I am planning to record also review of the previous generation of Triumph Scrambler some time in April.
