I remember being at the wilmot gig at our local youth club in Finchley I sat on top of the p . a next to Pete sharp and watched my 2 older brothers in there stranglers original finchley boys t shirts with all the other finchley boys hold the line ...I was 13 ...Happy Times ❤❤
Amazing to hear them being called sexist. Ironically, if you listen to 'princess of the street', the subject of the song is about how love hurts, and the protagonist has empowerment. Very talented songwriting.
I was 13 when Dave Lee Travis played Peaches for the 1st time. The next day I was at New Milton Records in Whitefield Rd buying the single . On hearing this blasted out on an old Dansette my mother exclaimed “ this is disgusting filth “ & tried to tear it off the turntable. I won the fight & she never got her hands on it 😁🏴❤️
I’ve been a Stranglers fan about the same time as you, we used to have a holiday home in Barton on sea and go to New Milton for chips. Happy days. Have seen said band at the Anvil in Southsea
Very interesting . I preferred the Stranglers in their early days they were a great band to follow , as they became more comercialised their music changed . Theyre still a great band. But its sad that they lost Dave Greenfield and Jet Black
How could you listen to Golden Brown for the first time and not realise it was a massive hit. How do these people get jobs in music and not have a clue about what's good and what's not
The Stranglers are in my top 3 bands of all time. I struggle to respect them these days with just one original member left though. Carrying on without Dave was too much for me.
Now on the verge of 50 Years! 😁🥳🖤
Thanks for sharing this. I've loved them since hearing the 5 Minutes bw Rok it to the Moon single. Great band made up of a great bunch of people...
Brilliant Dave ! R.I.P Dave Greenfield and Jet Black .

Brilliant 🖤 thank you for this, loved the band from the first time I heard "Peaches" and still love them all versions 🖤

Yeah. Nothing sexist about calling a woman a piece of meat.
Truth hurts
@@dirkjenkinz595It is written in persona. Get it?

Keep all of the lanterns burning for a ship to pass in the night.

That's one of the problems, the business is run by Idiots...who favour crap "music".
I enjoyed this
I love how they don't sound how they look!
When I saw "Dave Mason" I thought it was the musician from Traffic lol.

Could've been viscount Hugh of Cornwell
Yeah the wrong 10 years.
