Bravo Dave Mason! An epic historical reference point for one of Britain's best ever bands.

How have I missed this gem for nigh on a year? Excellent stuff. This is the most I've heard from Dave which is a bitter sweet experience. RIP Dave.

I've been a fan for 30+ years and have met some members of the band, attended a Christmas party, photographed a convention and some of their gigs but I learned so much about the band after listening to your interview. Brilliant! Thank you.

Es indiscutible que los primeros IV llegaron lejos e hicieron las mejores canciones. Hacian un gran equipo que parece perdieron la ilusion de sseguir haciendo juntos grandes albumes. Ahora todo se complica sin Dave, insustituible.

I always thought they where finished when they came out after AC/DC at The Who concert at Wembley in 79. They started doing songs from the Raven witch had only come out that day so no-one knew them. Even the Finchley boys where throwing peaches at them. 4th song in Hugh went over to JJ said something in his ear JJ went to jet and Hugh went to Dave the song stopped and they went in to Tank.

Which is a bit strange really, as ‘The Raven’ is probably their best album. Maybe just too much of a departure?

Interesting. I love to learn even more stuff about my favourite band through other fans expériences at their gigs.
      Cheers fella, 😎

@@neilmclaughlin2347 Yea to much of a departure for me. I remember the Finchley Boys going mental to AC/DC. They where a hard act to follow.

When i saw a copy of thé DVD of them live at the Royal fuckin Albert Hall, I said to myself "What the fuuuck?!!" and although I was really not a fan of that particular line-up, I just had to buy it, for my Stranglers collection. I really don't like it, i thought it was terrible, i could'nt understand why thé fuck they did that, with an Orchestra and dressed up like that, but oh well, they did it. I've tried watching it 3 or 4 times but I just can't. I just think that was a really Bad Mistake, but obviously some fans think it's great. Such a terrible thing wouldnt stop me from still loving them as much as I do. Long Live The Stranglers 🖤 (Rest in Peace, Dave Greenfield, you will live on forever in the hearts of us fans😔)

I just wanna say, I havent got anything against Paul, he sounds like a good bloke and really aimiable or amiable (?!), but I just didnt like that era... Except for "Big Thing Coming", I really love that track. 😉

Hugh co-wrote the songs with JJ. The recent albums are just as good as everything after The Raven.

The Hugh era Stranglers are my favourite and I was very sad when he had to leave, I thought it was the end...and then they reformed with TWO people to replace Hugh (!!!) and for me it just wasn't good. In my opinion he was irreplacable. Then the line-up changed again, with Baz replacing thé other two. I saw them live twice with Baz, before Dave sadly parted (I was DEVASTATED when i learnt that he died that day, felt like a close relative/friend had gone😔),but as i was saying, The Stranglers with Baz gigs were FUCKIN EXCELLENT ! Really good. I really WISH I could have seen them with Hugh, back in the late 70s early 80s especially, but I missed out. But as I said, LIVE , with Baz, The Stranglers were still just the Top Dogs Bollocks. They are and always will be my favourite band and they are up there with the British classics like The Beatles, Kinks and Stones and Zeppelin... (but I wish The Stones would retire now!) 🖤😎
