    Just in the process of ordering bits and bobs to build my first ever quad, a wee 250 so this is prefect to keep the price down plus so easy to understand for a newbie like me. Can't wait to try this out!

      echopark25 There is a link to a lovely 250 quad kit with all the components you need - th-cam.com/video/oQeNV-Wr8RE/w-d-xo.html. Just add a few more batteries, charger and a radio/receiver..
      Happy building!

    I couldn't agree more. For the price, this little FPV setup is great! I use it on my 230 quad. And I am going to order another. To replace my Fatshark system, on my hexicopter.

    I have the same Eachine camera/vTX combo from the UK Bangood warehouse and found it to be an excellent all in solution, especially for the price.

    Glad to see you found the same comparability issue between the rx and fatshark tx. I used one for some 'passenger' goggles and found much poorer range than my immersion rx, but thought it might just have been a bad rx so banggood replaced it which of course made no difference.
    It will be interesting to see how the camera/tx combo work in action.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      atschris In action they work great for local field flying and getting into FPV. You get a huge 'bang for your buck' using this system and once people start to get into it then investments in more expensive kit makes sense.
      Saying that - still love the Quanum goggles - don't care if I look like Bender!

    I cannot wear fat shark due to glasses. I did get some nice goggles on sale,actually referbs at a dirt cheap price. I got the echine tx02 camara and also a seperate transmitter and receiver. I wanted it to run my run cam from. I wish Banggood would send me free stuff to test but thats ok,I just watch guys like you and figure out what it is I want. Good video.

    im using Eachine fpv kits, a 200mw and a 600mw, they are sound, even when using the standard antenna, they handle low light really well, the only problem I found was when its getting dark and theres still a bit of light left in the sky the camera struggles to see the ground until you are in the shadows, other than that, its a perfect kit and the price is a bonus

    Hi mate, you have helped me loads with this hobby!! Keep up the great work, appreciate it!
    I went down the Fatshark Predator route and thought they were ok'ish for my first FPV experience, I enjoyed it, but not what I hoped. Then I got the cheap HK Quanum as I thought bang for buck, they must be good..again, they were OK...too many wires!. Now I bit the bullet and went for the FatShark Attitudes V2 and even though only have 10 degree more FOV (its actually 40% more over the preds!!), I should have gone for them first time, this is FPV, they are a must, perfect kit!!! Anyway, long story short, compared to the fatshark cam and tx that comes with the goggles, how does this cam and TX compare in view quality? It looks and sounds too good to be true....for £20 are they that good??

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      PAUL DONOHOE The camera is ok, the transmitter is good. If you want FatShark quality buy FatShark ;)A number of people use the transmitter with a 5v FatShark camera (including me - you can see it on the Tri-copter videos)I would give these a try though on a model that you expect to crash. Happy flying!

      The Channel Formerly Known as Epik Beats Thanks for that - I did know that but most people get very confused and I've seen vendors also use the wrong names for the connectors to so showing the pin/lack of pin is a very 'safe'' way of letting subscribers know what they are getting/need.

    I can watch your videos for days!!! There is so much good information. Thanks for all the great instruction! Subd! I have a quick question. I saw a 600mw version of the tx kit from eachine on banggood. Would that be a better choice? Or does that not make too big a difference? Sorry if I missed that in one of your other videos. Oh yeah it will be used for racing and freestyle type flying. Thanks for any advice!

      ***** Hi Rob, there are a few videos on the channel about learning to fly and flying FPV. This playlist may be of use - th-cam.com/play/PLYsWjANuAm4rQfddw-7YZDzckoJ_KyOpm.html
      Radios are an investment for the hobby and something that can stay with you for many years. I still use my first 'proper' radio a DX7 and have had it for almost 8 years now. I would look at what your friends use and consider radios like the Turnigy 9XR.
      The battery to power the goggles doesn't need to be huge. I little 3s 500mah pack will run if for hours.
      Best of luck with the FPV, it can take time to get to grips with it..

    Excellent video! I have a question that isn't RC related, but still is on the subject of wireless cameras. I picked up a security camera and would like to use it wirelessly over an IP so I can view it on my laptop. I know there are systems that can be purchase, but this is a high quality camera that I have next to nothing invested in. I'm hoping I just need a transmitter, but I'm not sure which transmitter would be suitable. If you could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated :)

    Love your videos, I'm learning a lot! A question concerning the power necessities of the video receiver. It states 12V DC in but you're using a 3S (11.1v) supply... Any idea what this receiver regulates it to internally? I'm wondering if a 2S might be sufficient..
    Actually same question about the transmitter. The 3S connector is supplied, but do you think this set might run off a 2S supply? For me my question is two-fold. First the literal question: can I use 2S? Well, I might just try and find out :) But also more general: is there such thing in the RC/FPV world as a common voltage that most electronics tend to operate on?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lebasson Great question. Most transmitters are designed to work with 2-3s packs (check the specs for the one you are using), a 3s pack can be anything from 12.6v down to 10.5v (!) in use. There is normally a voltage regulator on them that is reducing the voltage to 5v anyway. Most things run on 5v and we use BECs to reduce the main battery voltage to that more useful voltage for all the electronics. Hope that helps..

    • @lebasson
      @lebasson 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Painless360 That certainly does, thanks! Just ordered some BECs for future use. Handy for LED strips I imagine. Both the sender and receiver you used in this video work just fine on 2S btw. Happy!

    is your camera actually 148deg fov, I bought 2 of the 200mw combo and a spare camera all advertised as 148deg fov, I can tell and show (video a/b comparison filmed from a 7" screen with edges of fov marked for both) that the 3 that I recieived (2 in combo with 200mw 32ch tx 1 seperate seperate for quanam goggle mount cam) are nowhere near 148deg, they are substantially narrower view than a 131-132 deg fov mobius c lens camera, all labeled with little silver sticker as 148deg, all appear to be 110deg.

    Hi again, I'm reading up about fpv and to me it seems the 2.3 ghz and 1.3 ghz frequencies better for penetration and signal but I can't seemed to find any equipment for them within the U.K. Law. Any ideas on what I can get for long range fpv without breaking the bank?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1.3 is not available for airnourne transmittion here in the UK. Check out sites like the www.fpvuk.org/fpv-law/ to see what's legal. If you use 100mw 2.4Ghz for the radio and 25mW 5.8Ghz for the FPV you're good. Other bands area available for specific things too..

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +betactical Range is tricky to answer as it depends on the antennas used, local conditions, power of the Tx, sensitivity of the receiver, position of the craft etc. With decent antenna this will easily get you past 400ft and well beyond with the right kit.

    Hi!
    is the 110 degree camera the better choice for FPV?
    should I use CMOS or CCD (or does one of these options not work with the goggle?)
    can I power the camera/VTX with the flightbattery, or should I use a seperate one?
    thanks for the reply!

    • @Painless360

      +djdaudeij Normally pilots use 110-130 degree field of view cameras for FPV. Any more and the important centre of the image starts to be very small. The camera technology will work with any transmitter, it's more about the voltage the camera works. Most will power the airside FPV camera and transmitter from the flight battery. Happy flying!

    I'm not sure if there's a problem here with My Transmitter, I've ordered 2 of these, the 600 mW version and the 200 mW version, I've recieved the 200 mW version already and during the bench testing everything seems to work perfectly, great video and good reception, everything.. My main issue is that the Transmitter gets extremely hot, almost to the point that you can't touch it, that's a bit worrysome. Is there a problem, or is that normal, should I maybe fabricate some heat sinks? And that's just the 200 mW, the 600 mW is I'm sure gonna be even worse.. :(

    Hello. I love your videos. But i think i made a mistake i cant check by now. Everyone says dont power up VTX withoit antenna. Whell i did and it was on about 30sec on 25mW. So how long does it take to burn it? I would like to test it, but i destroyed my VRX so cant recive video. I wonder if it can be burned, so i order new VTX now cos i would not like to wait 2 weeks for VRX to come and another 4weeks for the new VTX to come. I use TX001 Eachine VTX.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On lots of the cheaper transmitters it's usually very quick, a couple of seconds is all it takes to cause damage. On more expensive transmitters like things from TBS, they're designed to withstand transmission without the antenna attached for quite a long time. That's done so if you crash in the antenna snapped off then it doesn't fry your electronics. The only way you'll find out for sure, is to test it properly. Best of luck....

    • @AlexisSLO
      @AlexisSLO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crap... I tried it if it was hot, but was not. Now i dont know anyone to have vRX to test it. Is there any way to test it with multimeter? Like some setting that would tell me if it transmits the signal? Any responce would be good. I would meshure it on the board with antenna on. I dont have equipement for meshuring signal strenght like few people have as i saw in the videos.

      @AlexisSLO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whell the vTX is still alive. It did not got burned. Mavy helped that it was set on 25mW and it had original attached pigtail, so it took those 30sec without antenna It still works :)

    Hey, just wondering about the legalities of 200mw in the UK, 25mw is the legal UK limit from what i know and i am keen to stay within these boundaries. Is there a licence you need to obtain a higher wattage for the transmitter?
    Thanks :)

    • @mrgriff9648
      @mrgriff9648 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      10mw is the legal limit unless you have a licence then your limit is 25mw, anything above is illegal... Saying that immersionrc 600mw and 1w transmitters are freely available in the UK. I think the bands are restricted as well ie most of the 32 channels are illegal even at 25mw. Needless to say you won't be able to fog on 25mw very well unless you spend a lot on aerials.

    • @HATCHETHAS
      @HATCHETHAS 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      William S-R 10mW for 2.4GHz and 25mW for 5.8Ghz without a licence for airborne use. You must use 5725- 5875 MHz range for 5.8Ghz anything outside that range is illegal.

    • @ernestoditerribile

      +HATCHETHAS I don't think most cops are educated enough, to know what you are doing. I have a Futaba FC-18 Plus with modified Cessna Radio transmitter 20 W 127.025 MHz transmitter(you can check it on Skychaser)Put the receiver on a Solar glider(lost it 2 weeks ago) and flew it easily 20 KM's away. When cops see the aerial on it they ask why is it so big. I tell them to fly it legally without a HAM License. They most of the times wait for me to fly the plane back, and they become very interested. They will never research my stuff, because of their lack of knowledge and education. If I let them play with my Quadcopters they really love it.

    One thing I really hate about FatSharks is that they have horrid chromatic aberrations at the edge of the FOV. These guys don't have any grasp of good quality optics. Boscam goggles are somewhat better in this regard, but there is still room for improvement in them also. I have a couple questions regarding FPV:
    1) You are using a 148 degree camera in this video. Do you find 148 to be the best choice for FPV? They also offer a 110 degree version. I think something narrower would be better. What are your feelings on the 110 version?
    2) I'm from the US. So, what are the regulations for FPV use and power levels? I'm guessing this isn't an easy question but I'd like to get your take on this since I'm sure you are in contact with many US FPVers.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher Lyons I find the best views are 120-130 degree, any more feels like I loose too much detail in the centre of the image. Some fly up to 147 degree but that's the limit for me. I'd check with the local FPV resellers and check in the forums. I'd suspect that it's 25mw but every location seems to have a different law! Happy flying!

    I built an FPV system like that with similar parts I got on Ebay. I probably should have ordered from Banggood though because the first seller I ordered from seemed to go out of business and was delisted from Ebay so I never got anything and had to order everything all over again from a different seller. I was going to use it on a quadcopter that I intended to build using a Pixhawk PX4 but since that's impossible to ever get working I'll probably use the FPV system to get video from a remote security camera instead.

    I haven't been able to get anybody to answer this question yet, though I have asked it in several places. Virtually all cameras state whether the video and flyback are encoded by the PAL or NTSC standard (apparently SECAM is not in favour). I presume that the camera produces a composite signal, which is sent to the transmitter, which transmits whatever it is fed. It must be decoded at the receiving end, however, but I have never seen a receiver that states whether it processes a PAL or NTSC signal, so I presume it is done by the screen itself. Do I have to take this into account when buying a Tx/Rx pair? Do I need to buy a screen/goggles that is matched to the camera? Or are these analogue concepts not used in RC transmitters, where HD or Full HD would be a more logical digital standard? If that is the case, why do cameras state their encoding standard? I have frequently seen two identical cameras (eg. the RunCam Starlight cameras), one PAL, one NTSC, for an identical price. There must be a choice to make, but what, at the receiving end, does it depend on?

    • @Painless360

      Great question, not sure why you're not getting answers though.. The video transmitter doesn't care what the signal is - it just sends it across. You're right the video decoding on the receiver needs to match the camera - NTSC or PAL but most these days will auto detect and select the right settings automatically. Occasionally you'll find kit that needs to be set manually. See our videos in the 'Introduction to FPV' for more content. You may find these useful too - th-cam.com/video/A5tgcsMktuQ/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/gdKKNGIsQn8/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for the response, Painless (it may be for you ;-) )
      So if I understand you right, the camera encodes the transmission standard, not the transmitter, but it is the receiver that decodes it, and sends a simple video signal to the screen. I guess, then, that the receiver split out the 3 colours and synch, and sends them on different wires (RGB)?
      I looked at the links you gave, but they didn't answer the question. The first one contrasted PAL with NTSC, but spoke mostly about the difference in frame rate and the ramifications of that, and the second one showed the problem of not selecting the right standard, but as you were using a screen with built-in receiver, it wasn't obvious if you were changing the settings in the receiver or in the screen. In my case, the screen and receiver are likely to be separate (Quanum V2). I haven't bought them yet.
      So are you saying the ALL receivers can be set for either standard? I have never noticed this in the specs for any receiver.
      BTW, I see that there's a new Quanum - the Cyclops - which seems quite nice, but has some disadvantages - a single button to auto-select the channel, fresnel lens, and a non-diversity built-in receiver. Just a personal impression, but the V2 Pro seems a better bet - more versatile, although heavier.

      If you want to get into detail - book a chargeable support call and I can take you though it. The short version - FPV uses composite video over a single cable. Happy flying!

      Thanks Painless, but I think I've got the idea. I have a background in electronics, and already know the theory of PAL/Secam/NTSC and transmission theory (I've just been answering a circular polarisation question on another forum). The PAL encoding has to be stripped out somewhere along the path from camera to screen, and it could be done in the receiver or the screen - I just didn't know which. To me, it would have seemed more modular to have the receiver undo what the transmitter did, and output the signal that the transmitter was given, then the screen would undo the encoding that the camera put into the signal. Alternatively, it could have been designed so that the camera fed a composite video signal to the transmitter, which would then encode it for transmission, in which case the receiver would decode it (as it does) and hand off a composite video signal to the screen - but from what you have told me, it's not balanced in the way I would have considered "nice". However, if it works, it works. You've told me all I really needed to know to order compatible equipment. Thanks for the info.

    Why do all the FPV videos on youtube have really bad reception. I don't mean the recorded footage i mean the live feed video that comes through the goggles or screen always looks really bad. Is there a setup out there that gets you movie-like video quality?? Or whats the best?

      +Riley Bullen analogue FOG video is only 640x480 pixels. It's far from movie quality. Hd fpv is available but expensive. Better antennas and more power provide less breakup to. See the videos on the 'Introduction to FPV' playlist. Happy flying

    Painless360 hey I have a question can I use a 20mw transmitter and a 200mw receiver together and especially in Germany can I legally use a 200mw receiver because transmitter with more than 25mw are illegal thanks

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The receiver normally doesn't have a power rating as it doesn't transmit anything. If that is the case then you should be fine.
      Happy flying!

      You can use a different antenna to still get great range - see my video on this in the 'Introduction to FPV' playlist..

      Darren Fürst Das stimmt, mehr als 25 mw darfst du in DE nicht senden, aber sein wir mal ehrlich, du darfst auch nicht 10km/h zu schnell fahren, und trotzdem macht es jeder...
      Ich selbst sende mit 200mW, und ich hatte noch nie Probleme, ich glaube um ärger mit der BNA zu bekommen, musst du es schon drauf anlegen...
