DVR vs. NVR: What’s the difference? And which is better?

- If you’re looking to set up a full CCTV system with multiple cameras at your home or business, you might see the terms NVR and DVR thrown around. But what do they mean and what’s the difference between the two?
Basically, DVR and NVR systems do similar things - store video footage. But DVR uses analog technology while NVR is digital. You can save money on your surveillance system by using DVR cameras, but the quality might not be as good and it takes a little more work to convert your footage. And while NVR systems are more expensive, they’re much easier to set up and tend to come with more features like motion detection and audio.

Nowadays DVRs have AoC (audio over coaxial) which have video and audio in a single cable. Using a rg59 cable makes you literally use one single cable for all on DVR.
Nice video. I’m even more conflicted now though 😂
I got a BUNCH of DVR cameras my work was throwing out but with it having no audio or no wireless connectivity I don’t think my wife would want them up.😂 Tryna save a penny or two.
Thank you so much. And thank you to point out points at the end.
Simple and clear to understand
great job explaining that, and btw you cost me extra money but I subscribed anyway. I was about to buy an analog but older gets old real fast now a days.
Wicked video. Plain and simple! Thankyou👍🏽
she is Great!!! Thank You
for the IP CCTV cameras we use a connector know as RJ45 right.what about the colour coding do we still align the way we align while interneting?
Yes the color coding is the same
Can u change a dvr to a ndr
I have a night owl dvr system
The dvr went black, is their another dvr that is compatible to night owl ? It's still under warranty but all I got is a run around from n.o.
Thank you .
It may depend a lot on the connector type. If you're using analog, most DVRs should work.
Here's Night Owl's site to get you started:

What are NVR IP cameras available?
Axis
Samsung
Hikvision
The bad thing about NVR is that it is not suitable for long distances when wiring LAN cables.
How far do need run the cable? Because if you use the right switch you can get 328 feet. But the limitation is more about the quality of the cable. Actually a good switch can reach 820 feet or 250 meters.
Jen Barber from the "IT crowd" has been studying since the last episode
😂
IP câmera is very good, but if the internet is off line, will NVR keep recording?
Yes it does record. All recordings are on your local network
Internet connectivity is for remote access and view through the respective applications
Internet camera has only 1 main problem.. power interruption.. without power there's no internet, without internet cameras are down
Network ≠ Internet...If a DVR is connected to a UPS and stays on during a power interruption, then so will an NVR. The only issue is when you have a cloud camera, but that's not the part of this video.
The background music is sucks
You make a bad teacher; too much technical detail which most people looking for an answer are not interested in. We're not here to write a paper on NVR vs DVR. You get a -C and a 👎
Sorry that you are so stupid to understand.
I just like this lady can someone send to me her contact
