If I remember correctly he even said he felt like he should try out some to see if it helps or hinders his shows with Dead Corp. Being the odd man out in that group would be weird. I wouldn't think he is on psychedelics, but he could definitely be smoking some weed or maybe pills of some sort. I don't know too much about mayer, but I could definitely see him being a little buzzed here. Maybe even a little tipsy. Who knows, this was during the pandemic so I'm sure everyone had their own way of coping with the isolation and loneliness.
I will always miss the Gratefuldead because we were all friends + I went on tour with them for quite a lot of shows ! I have to say that I do like Dead + Company ! Jerry was my soulmate + I miss him so much but I hope they go on tour again but I heard they were going into the studios to record !

I thought TC was already a scientologist pre-GD. They attracted a different crowd back then than they do now, I think it was a little less freaky in the 60s. Also this is pure speculation but I don't think Weir would've put up with Mayer if the didn't have that generational gap. Weir was very committed to being the hot one and I can't imagine him letting anyone threaten that.
