Residents of Kingman, Ariz. talk about how they ended up living in the Route 66 town, and what they love about their quiet community. (K.M. Cannon/Las Vegas Review-Journal)
Back in 2002 when we came to Arizona, we looked into Lake Havasu and Kingman. The realtor lady in Havasu said that Kingman will never accept outsiders, but we decided on Kingman. Yes, of course there's Butler (aka Little Ireland) and Birdland where the birds tweak rather than tweet. They're short little people that steal your bicycles and yard ornaments, take things from thrift store donation boxes, that kind of thing. On their days off they gossip about people in their facebook groups, act like they're the police and chase your car across a parking lot to tell you your tire is a bit low, tell you you're committing fraud if they see you with a coupon in your hand at a store check out. They're so funny, always keep me laughing :)
The population does not warrant a "mega" church/temple for any religion, but many of the ones that are there, like the mosque on Airway Ave are very nice.
@@1toniah that may be true (I agree) but they do not hurt with their existence. If people want to believe in invisible supernatural men, its a free country. Many of the church/temples in Kingman are excellent examples of architecture.
You forgot to mention the population of people who relocated to Kingman to assist their aged parents and end up stranded here and hate it. Nor, the lack of decent health care including hospitals. In the event of critical accident or illness you must be flown by helicopter to Las Vegas! You also must travel to Las Vegas to receive better surgeons, etc. You also forgot to mention North Kingman- i.e. Butler and Birdland. Altogether, a pretty frightening place to live!
Every city has a "bad" neighborhood or two. Why would Kingman be any different? All-in-all, the people are very nice and the air is clean. The weather is better than Phoenix.

Me and my teens love old town Kingman, we drive up route 66 Everytime we are out that way. I love it there at night!
