  • How to blur faces in Camtasia. In this quick tutorial for Camtasia, we look at how to hide faces or blur them in videos and also how to track the movement of the faces and move the blur along with the face to make sure the face stays hidden for the entire duration of the clip.
    We don't need to just blur faces, but any object or portion of the screen, if we play with the animation a little bit and the blur annotation in Camtasia.
    After importing the video you want to blur in Camtasia, you can use the Blur annotation in the Annotations area and add it to the timeline above the clip you want to blur on. If you want to have a stronger effect, you can increase the intensity of the blur, but if it's still too weak, you can always duplicate it, for a pronounced blur effect.
    If the faces on your video are not static, make sure you first add a single blur annotation and animate it for the entire duration, so that the blur stays with the face. Use custom animation for this. In the video, I show a method to make the tracked blur move at a constant speed. After you have the blur successfully and precisely follow the face on the video, you can duplicate the entire blur annotation with the animation onto extra tracks, for a stronger blur effect, that will now behave the same way as the first one.

    Hi Cristi, you´re an absolute pro who knows so much about Camtasia AND you deliver it in an understandable and actionable way. This is awesome! I´ve watched a couple of your videos now and I learned so much within minutes. There maybe other pros out there but you have the seldom gift of putting even complex topics perfectly across. Your voice is friendly and it´s in total sync with what you demonstrate with your videos.
    All I can say 5 *s

    I always look forward to your videos Cristi. Again you did a great job. I am a teacher and I often make videos for promotional purposes. With the current GDPR you often have to blur students. I'm so glad you made this tutorial. I really needed it! Greetings from the Netherlands.

      Thank you so much! I am happy you find it useful. If you have any other questions or things you might be struggling with, I'd be happy to make a video for that. Just let me know.

    Thanks for this video! Do you know if there is any way to shape the blur, for example make it oval? I tried applying a Media Matte but that didn’t work. Any suggestions?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, unfortunately you cannot change the shape of the blur nor use it in combination with a media matte. It’s annoying!

    Thanks for the video, but unfortunately the animation tweaks don't work in Camtasia for Mac :( Got any work-around ?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure but I think they should work on the mac but you have to add the animations manually each time (a pain, I know!), using Shift + A. Try it!

    How do you blur two sections of the screen at the same time?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can add two blurs and animate them independently.

  • @joshg7885
    @joshg7885 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    why did you stack the blurs? Why not just take a single 1 blur and increase the intensity to 100%?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes 100% intensity is not enough. Stacking them adds more intensity.

    The current version 2021.0.12 requires 2-3 times as much memory for me as 2021.0.10. I had to reinstall the old one as the .12 keeps crashing. Do you have any experience?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I have learned to stay away from the 'latest' updates because it seems they have become more sloppy and keep breaking things. For me, 2021.0.5 has been the most stable by far... each update since that one has introduced some stupid bugs, even for features that used to work fine before for many years.
      As of now, I am still using 2021.0.11, which is missing the 'Silence Audio' function... but I am in the middle of several projects and cannot afford to be messing around with buggy releases. I think I'll wait.
      Thanks for mentioning this though because I WAS considering updating today, lol!

    Looks a bit complicated to copy-paste the blur effect to make it more intensive.
    Can‘t you just set the blur effect by slider in the properties?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can but the maximum intensity doesn't add much. Then the only option you have is to just duplicate it. It depends on how intense you need it.
