    I power the fridge fully stocked w food for 8hrs at home and use my tacoma's 110 power outlet in the truck bed until I get to my campsite. I can get 37hrs of run time on a jackery 300 pw station. You can also power the fridge off at night and the food will stay pretty close to the last temp for about 8 hrs or so (i keep my fridge in the bed of my truck away from the sunlight and in a insulated cover). I imagine that using the 100w solar panel to recharge during the day would allow me to run this 24-7 for as long as I want to.

      One can the time by Cooling the fridge down indoors on AC first, before putting it in the car... And also rigging a inexpensive insulative cover for the fridge (like, out of reflectix or something).
      Also, once it's full of cold items, it will continue to keep cooler longer.

      We have run this setup for multiple summers. It has worked well for us. We charge the power station from the truck while we are traveling and unplug it from the car when we are in camp so we don't drain the battery. Then the fridge is plugged into the power station all the time. We have used the Jackery 1000 and the Anker 1500 for our power stations - they both work well. Our daytime temps are typically in the 80-90F.

    I have been testing another fridge/freezer that is very efficient. So efficient that when the compressor turns of the Jackery is only discharging 1watt to 2 watts. It is great but can be a double edge sword. I just found out today from Jackery that the Jackery 500 will turn itself off after 12 hours if the compressor does not turn on and continues to only discharge 2 watts or under per hour. While testing it I would find my unit turned off and the Jackery. I was getting read to send portable fridge back thinking there was something wrong. Just FYI.

    Hi, just wanted to commemt regarding the tests done and this is one of them. This video is good however all of those who wants to test their portable power batt with the fridge should take it out to determine the actual purpose of the fridge and the portable batt. I just got the Dometic cfx3 75dz and it was awesome however my dilemma was the power was kicking due to the outside temp. I have a truck with good ventilation but due to the outside temp it drained my jackery batt.

    Re discharging batteries, it's a lithium 12v battery inside that box, you shouldn't run it below 20% really but if they told you 15 go with that. Same applies to your smartphone. You can make your smartphone battery last 10 years or more if you keep the charge between 20-80% as much as possible. If not using the jackery for a long time, I suggest leaving it with a charge of 70-80% before storage.

      David Stillman for sure. It could be half of this if it’s sitting in the sun.

      THANK YOU FOR GETTING BACK TO ME! JUST BEEN TAKING THIS ALL IN FROM ALL OF YOU'LL ! STILL DECIDING ON WHAT SIZE FRIG , ROOFTOP TENT OR LITTLE TRAILER ,ETC ! PLUS MAYBE A JACKERY MAKES IT A LOT EASIER THAN HARD WIRED SECOND BATTERY.

    You should do a test with the “lasko my heat 200 watt heater”. The smallest electric plug in heater you can buy.

      @@MWDAdventures Will be interested in that video. I have a Jackery 240 which will power 200W Lasko heater but...the heater initially drew up to 400W before it leveled off. It also drew the Jackery down quickly. I wonder if it will do the same on the Jackery 500.

      CeeGee good idea for a video. I will see if I can test that. I don’t have a lasko my heat. I will look into ordering one and try it out with the jackery

    I wonder if a full fridge would affect the wattage?pretty impressive nice video.

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Full fridge, outdoor temps, how many times it is open/closed all will affect the time, but this gives a good starting point.

    Did I see snow all over outside?
    Beyond your pickup truck?
    What was the ambient temperature during this test?

      @MWDAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we did do this test during the winter months. We ran the test inside our house, so the temps were around 68*

    Hello can either of these run my. 115 volt/60hz AC mini fridge? Also on the fridge Manuel it states that the fridge is not designed to be used with an inverter. Is that a problem when buying a jackery? It has 60 Watts

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Crystal Butcher I run it on 12 volt not an inverter. Jackery has 12 volt.

    Do you think this would also be able to power a single induction top?

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      sci fi vampire I don’t know it would depend on amp draw. It would be close I would bet.

    Now try that same test in the real world say Yuma Arizona camping on the colorado River. Lot different than a air conditioned and humidity conditioned home. Realistically it would run about 14 hours. Maybe

    Question....complete newbie
    I have a deep.cycle 100 Ah battery.....if i used a 12 volt cig lighter clip.on adaptor would that power this fridge as long?? Like how many Ah is that jackery 500?

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no deep cycles can't be brought down very much before they are damaged. Lithium will out last it.
