Love your videos, so much rubbish on TH-cam it's great to have some accurate and thorough information. You are now my go to. Another control I saw a guy do for red mite when he found he had quite an infestation he put some double sided sticky tape around each end of the 2 perches. Next morning the tape was covered in thousands of mites that came out of their cracks, tried to walk to the birds, and were trapped. He repeated for several days, mite numbers got less every day and in a few days were zero. As you said there can be mites outside, so he found he had to repeat every few months or so. But did keep levels at or very close to zero.

Oo I like the sticky tape trick. I have a client who uses Vaseline as partners the tool kit. I actually walk through her set up in the "coop designs" video, she uses a few interesting tools including plants.
      Thansk for the comment:)

Interesting you haven’t mentioned predator mites Sez. That hunt and eat the red mites. What are your thoughts on these?

I found a random link stating that heating the coop to 60C (without the hens inside, thank you) will kill them - if true, then that might be an option as well? (and/or steaming them like you can do to kill bed-bugs?)
