    Great series of videos Chris and well done on an excellent restoration, great work. I will have a look at your other videos, the MG work will be interesting as well as the engine re-build on the FZR.

    I really enjoyed my EXUP on the race track only having 5 gears was a real problem by the time I changed sprockets it was difficult to keep the front wheel down on short UK circuits. Now in my old age I have a Honda VTX 1300 and live in Cambodia if you ever need a holiday we could do a op end rebuild on it. Free board and bed and a lot of fun. I dont know enough to do the rebuild and I would never trust a mechanic here. Great job on the EXUP they are still a brutally fast bike.

    Hi Chris, there is an FZR exact same model and colours on Trade me motors, the NZ buy and sell site. Its in very good condition from what i can see, even allowing for digital photography's ability to make bikes look much better than in the flesh :-) He has painted the wheels white instead of the original blue, but it looks better than i thought it would with that colour scheme. He's asking 11,000 NZD, about 9,900 Aussie dollars, or 6,700 Euros. If i had the spare funds and room i'd grab it. This is why i have to stay of buy/sell sites, I have an addiction 80s 90s sports bikes. :-))

    • @ChrisSofos
      @ChrisSofos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know exactly what you mean!!!! I try to do the same, but it's futile😂
      I'll always find a good bargain too difficult to resist. For example, I'm checking a Suzuki GSXR 400 at the moment, here in Greece, to keep me busy next year 😁
      BTW
      The FZR you're looking for it seems to have a reasonable price (given everything is in good functioning order)

      @@ChrisSofos A GSX-R 400? No way!! I bought one of them last summer! A 84 GK71, the very first GSX-R :-) we got them new here in NZ, but this one is an import in the HB Suzuki colours yellow with red seat. My son has it now. They are fun bikes.

    Hello i watch your channel , i got same moto and i need some reapairs on paint , so i want ask where you buy decals ? Paint is not problem but buy good decals which looks like original is .

    • @ChrisSofos
      @ChrisSofos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Finding decals is one of the most difficult, if not impossible, things to do. This motorcycle I didn't have to paint, so decals was not the problem. BUT!!! If I had to, then I look on Megazip.net or on cmsnl.com and I see what they have. They usually have only one side of the original decals. Left or right. Then I take this decal to a friend of mine, and he scans it. He reproduces the colours and he also creates a mirror image for the other side decal.

    I’ve really enjoyed watching your video! I am restoring the same model in a slightly different colour scheme, in Queensland. I have really struggled finding original paint codes! Do you have a resource for the factory paint codes?
    Also, where did you order the new windscreen from?

    • @ChrisSofos
      @ChrisSofos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment!
      At some point I was able to find all the original codes, but in the end they don't mean anything to paint shops who will provide you with the color. The only original color the shops are familiar with, is the BWC #1 which is the pearl white. Everything else, you'll have to go there with a sample so they can color match them. If you find a paint shop that they have a spectrometer, this will be the ideal, as this machine can accurately match any color.
      As for the windscreen, I got it from this site:
      www.wemoto.com.au/bikes/yamaha/fzr_1000_ex_up_3le/95/picture/screen_as_standard/
      Mind you this link will get you to my model's standard and clear color windscreen. You might want to check for your own model.

    Hey Chris, awesome work, looks and sound perfect!
    Got one question for you maybe you can help me.
    I have fzr 1000 engine on my buggy but is not driveable yet cause engine not run good. There are misfires and uneven running. Idle sometimes very low sometimes very high. Throtle response very bad from idle/stalling, mostly 3 cil running. But once I started it and it revs to 7k perfectly running on all 4. I cleaned carbs at local shop and changed engine (this is my second engine but with first one I had same problems.) And it wont rev higher than 6.5 - 7k rpm.
    I think now that is something with electric but dont know what. I tried two different sets of coils, the same. Exup servo seems to be working ok. Have spark on all 4.
    Sorry for long coment I just dont know how to get it running.
    *Oh and my coils are not screwed to some metal, do they need to be grounded?

    • @ChrisSofos
      @ChrisSofos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your comment!
      As for your problem: Assuming that the carburetors are all good since they were repaired in a shop, the spark plugs are good, the ignition coils are good and you have a good compression, there's one thing that draws my attention. You said the idle is sometimes very low and sometimes very high. Check for leaks in the inlet manifold. If there's any air leaks, then more air than fuel will come in the engine, contributing to poor running.
      The rubber mounts of the carburetors to the inlet manifolds have to be crack free. If they do have cracks, then you have a leak that causes all these issues you mentioned. Sometimes the rubbers are good, but they are not tight enough either on the carburetor of the inlet side. Also check the manifold themselves. First, if the o-ring the have is OK and seals properly and second check underneath them. They should have a small allen bolt with a copper washer. These are there to remove them and screw the vacuum tool, in order to balance the carburetors. If they're not properly tight or the washer is missing, it's a problem.
      Check all that and let me know!

    • @Jumbojt
      @Jumbojt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChrisSofos thank you for reply. Yea I changed yesterday inlet rubber manifolds and its the same. (Yesterday I picked up carbs from cleaning so I tried fire it up and put those new rubbers.) Didnt changed those under the main manifolds. Ill check them today.
