    Great idea. As a motorcyclist, I always stop at a light either at an angle from the car in front of me or to one side or the other. To avoid getting rear ended. Being at an angle allows me to look in my rear view to what is directly behind me. But this would be a great option with both of those techniques.

    Really like the direction of Bob's new company Pidzoom, developing products that make riders and wheels safer.
    I too feel naked without my helmet mirror. Don't care how it looks. The amount of times it's caught my peripheral vision of "threats" from the rear, without actively looking for them, is too many to count.
    This could be a huge seller for the cycling market as well, tho maybe too much drag for elite guys and gals.

      I've pre-ordered one of these mirrors and it looks fantastic! Cant wait to receive it! I think it would be better if the screws had allen key heads instead of the phillips head though. Keep up the great work guys!

    Yup, can relate to those riders that use glove mirrors, I use a wide angle mirror strapped onto a a wrist guard glove because I had a bad experience with one of those flat helmet mirrors you mentioned, I never really forget to check mine though because I always check my PWM and voltage thats on my smartwatch, its just become second nature to glance at the mirror.
    And yes SLA 3D Printers do have crazy levels of quality, the downsides are limited print size and you have to deal with really toxic fumes! Oh and curing the prints after is a process of its own that involves bathing the prints in alcohol. Its true a FDM printer won't reach those levels of detail, a well tuned one can get somewhat close 😄

    I just ordered this mirror. This mirror came highly recommended to me by a professional electric unicycle rider, and after watching your video, i immediately placed an order. Thank you for another great video. Your videos set the standard for being outstanding in quality and helpfulness. I always learn a lot about everything you share in your videos. Thank you!

    I pre-ordered one of these myself. I have been using a Take A Look helmet mirror with my bicycle / 36-inch-wheel pedal unicycle for the last 25 years, and I modified this mirror to work with my EUC helmets. This rectangular, flat mirror gives me a feeling of 360˚ vision, and I see EVERYTHING the cars behind me do. I am looking forward to giving the Pidzoom mirror a try.

    I love both my hand mirror and helmet mirror. Both have been very useful to expand view beyond the single location. I'm excited to see more accessories being developed for safety and daily commuting. Convex mirrors ftw!

    I've got a couple of helmet mirrors and one for the wrist. Wrist one is gathering dust in a drawer whereas the helmet ones are indispensable on my 2 lids. I do not feel comfortable without one and constantly look behind as it is hardly any head movement and the view is good. I've pre ordered two as they look sturdy, adjustable and the mirror looks just right

    I use both a helmet mirror and a wrist mirror. For the wrist mirror, you don't need to lift your hand, or whatever ballet dance you made in your video, you just angle it the proper way and you can look at it any time, it is even more convenient to use than the helmet version, as you don't need to move your head to see all the street behind, but only wave your hand a little, the way you anyhow do when you ride. And by the way, you have your mirror on the wrong side of the helmet...
    That is because here we drive on the left side of the road, so both my mirrors are on the right side of the helmet, respectively right hand 😛. Nice video. Kudos.

    I tried a wrist mirror (I also have a helmet mirror). I didn't find it to be very useful. I stopped using it.
    Is this system really resin printed? It could be printed on something like an HP Multijet. There are plenty of service bureaus who will print on machines like that. It's suitable for medium scale manufacture instead of using injection molding too.
    I have several FDM printers, and I'm very active in the 3D printing community. Whenever I think of getting a resin printer, I pull back. The resin is messy and quite toxic. It's also a pain to deal with the wash and then getting rid of dirty IPA. If I need the finish of a resin print, I'll farm it out.
    Great tip for temporarily mounting before using the VHB. I'll have to remember that one.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I specifically asked Bob, he told me that it was indeed resin printed. Still thinking about getting a resin printer.

    Only con with helmet mirrors is the helmet is in the way of looking on the RIGHT side of you.
    Whatever side of the helmet the mirror is on, the other side is a blind spot
    And if you crash with your helmet visor up that mirror can hit you in the face/eye

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm only worried about cars which only pass me on one side since I'm only riding in the slow lane. So the blind spot hasn't been an issue for me in all the years I've been riding. YMMV

    I think if I had a flip up helmet I might use the long arm and mount behind the Sena. However, no reason no to mount it the way you have done as well if you don't anticipate lifting the chin on a ride. Anyway, I have been thinking about one of these and you have just pushed me over the edge. 😂

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually, the mirror does not get in the way when I flip up the chin on the helmet, but of course then the mirror is useless. But I mostly only raise the chin when I'm stopped so it's not an issue.

    Even with a helmet mounted mirror you still need to look at the mirror frequently to know what’s coming behind your. This is why I love my garmin varia radar which give me very clear audible information of what’s going on behind me (specially when coupled to EUC world) and tell me when to look.

    • @stevemb0
      @stevemb0 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. It's at its best on quieter roads but as I hear the beeps I then glance in the mirror. In built up busy streets it beeps all the time which is less effective but its an amazing bit of kit. Links to EUC World app as well

    • @vince7245
      @vince7245 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use a radar as well, and it's great, I'm far more relaxed. I hear some beeps and I do a quick check in my helmet mirror to make sure.

    SLA printing is awesome but not as accessible as FDM printing. The fumes and required post processing make it a much more involved process

  • @Rickyonv12

    The problem is that the dominant eye is usually the right one. Since we are on the right side of the street, we have to put it on the left side of the helmet. So to see, I have to close my right eye so only the left on will focus on traffic.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't had this problem. Interesting. Yet I personally know many people who also seem to use the mirror on the left with no difficulties.

    I also ordered a pidzoom rear view mirror.We decided that the construction would look sturdy, be large in the mirror, and look better than other products.I want to upgrade and wear double-sided tape like you when I install it.I would really appreciate it if you could tell me the name of the double-sided tape or where the maker sells it. Thank you for the video.

    • @ElectricUnicycles

      Any of the 3M foam "mounting" tapes work and are super strong. The PIDZOOM mirror comes with the 3M tape pre-installed.

  • @Laenthal
    @Laenthal 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would not put it on the chin, it obstructs a bit of a road in that direction. Hanging it down from the blinder area is the way to go, just need to make sure that the rod is not visible, only mirror itself.
    Very nice shape and size of the mirror btw, nearly perfect.

    • @TimTimEUC
      @TimTimEUC 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not only that, but I feel like hanging it down from the top mimicks the main rear view mirror in my car, so more natural for me.
      Coming from underneath feels more like just one of the side view mirrors imo

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Where I put it (on the chin) works perfectly, "for me". We all have our preferences :-)

  • @arevee9429
    @arevee9429 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Like the sturdy arm which would reduce jiggle. Mirrors are great and almost indispensable, but they come off easily during crashes. This one is cheap enough, that this wouldn't be the end of the world - at least when shipping isn't considered in the price. The "Dawn mirror" is almost 50 bucks, but that company sends replacements, no questions asked, for the first year.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really can't see this one getting destroyed. At worst it would be forced/popped off in an impact, and then you just reattach with fresh tape. Feels very sturdy to me.

    Thanks for the review. Nice to see they have mounts that will work even with modular helmets. Slightly surprised tho that they went with flat back to the mirror, for airflow reasons. Have you noticed any unusual air-drag from yours ?

    • @TimTimEUC
      @TimTimEUC 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Air drag, at our speeds? No, I have noticed anything at my 35mph speeds. YMMV

    • @cocoabiscuits
      @cocoabiscuits 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ElectricUnicycles I want to preorder but it would be for my scooter that does 55+mph? I'm concerned the air drag might tilt or adjust the mirror while riding (or even gusts of wind). I love the concept though. Handlebar mirrors are too low on a scooter for me without crouching way down to see.

    Thanks for covering this. I commute 60 miles daily on a motorcycle. Some of the route is at high speed , 90+ mph on a turnpike. Do you think this would hold up? Currently using my old Reevu which is about 20% duct tape. The guy that makes them doesnt anymore and they are impossible to find.

      @ElectricUnicycles Thanks for the reply. I also considered using a little video screen and camera close up but that doesnt work with eyes somehow. Looking in a close mirror at something far away you focus on the far away thing.Looking at something far away on a close up little screen, you have to be able to focus on the screen. I cant.
