Also shoutout to the banter at the Lighthouse mechanic as well, for giving us a chance to actually HEAR a good chunk of dialogue, even from companions that might get left behind more often for the sake of the party build. I imagine it's worse for Mages since there's Bel, Neve, AND Emmrich that overlap, but even as a rogue it was so nice to hear Harding and Lucanis' banter in-game naturally despite never bringing them both out with me at once.
I like how the banter in Veilguard actually pauses itself when you get into a battle and then resumes when you end it, right where the characters left off even. Rather unique among Dragon Age party banter, isn't it? Another thing I love about it.
They also do some of this banter in the Lighthouse sometimes! It’s nice so you can hear more of it during the game (as long as you wander around the Lighthouse like I do, haha).
I think very specifically for Dragon Age 2 out of all the games it makes sense for everyone to keep yapping while they fight through the densely packed murderous crooks of Kirkwall, just another day in the life for them. The idea is very funny to me.
@@Alexis-pc4ro I also like that there's a bunch of banters that have variants depending on if they're overheard by Rook in the Lighthouse, or if it's a conversation on a standard map where Rook can participate. Happens a lot with the romance and faction centric banters in particular. For as many rough patches there are in the dialogue of the game - especially in the early game - I've found they do the little details like this surprisingly well, all the way through. I think it's why I legitimately enjoyed my second playthrough more.
And that came as a surprise. When i read Tevinter Nights, Strife was a very fitting name for him (maybe it was the stressful situation or the years mellowed him out😂)
@andreagrussu6778 oh he's definitely mellowed out since XD but he treats the forest the exact same way Emmrich treats the dead, with lots of love and respect.
@@nineblackgoats It's strange because in many ways he seems to have mellowed out, but then he's still noticeably pissed and resentful towards VJ Rook for *checks notes* not going along with his orders to abandon their fellow Veil Jumpers for the sake of an ancient map over a year ago. Which feels especially weird when his in-game introduction cutscene is literally him destroying an artifact for the sake of his fellow Veil Jumpers, and then making it apparent that he's not 100% over VJ Rook's actions once he sees them.
Honestly, this banter is great, especially because it help fleshing out the characters and make their bonds progress. Emmerich and Taash's part is my favorite because we see the most senior member of the party trying to teach to the youngest and slowly we pass from a scornful attitude to a sweet banter
I listen to the banter to fall asleep for the same reason! Can't spiral in my head for hours if I have the party banter in my ears. Helps me fall asleep in 30 mins or less, so I always have to rewind and pick up where I last remember, but it's so worth it.

It’s fun hearing it in game, but with these I get to hear how everyoen plays off each other, party limits be damned, and there aren’t huge gaps between conversations so I don’t forget bits between banter triggers. I can’t imagine this is a quick an easy thing to put together, either. Thanks again for your work!

I love Harding's banters, especially with Taash or Bellara, she is adorable now, than in DA: Inquisition,in that game, she was fun and cute too, but, now, she is really sweet and we see and love her as more than a scout now and Bellara's banters are the best of all, she is so special and unique, right? Like the better version at times and more or either Sera or Merrill, as Elves in the past, at least to me really. Kind, sweet, compassionate, loyal, funny, perky, smart, with a heart like a lion, brave and without fear and feels, when she knows she slips up, she tries to better, but, thinks it's not enough, we all know what that's like, bless her.

But we do enjoy dark alleys, and talking about murders, so we have that in common." I could swear I've got different version of that Taash and Lucanis romance banter about flying with wings, because by end I had Spite add something to it in lines like "They do ?". Hmm maybe it's different depending on Rook's gender ... mine was woman.
Yeah, some dialogues change depending on context. I got the "non binary people love flying" bc my rook was nb. Another romanced lucanis example: his banter with neve will change depending of if it happens with you while roaming in the world or if he's just chatting with neve at the lighthouse.

Any chance you can add or make another video of banter between Rook and each individual companion, which varies based on your game choices with each companion? Not the individual dialogue with different choices per say, but off the top of my head, the final chats in the lighthouse before the final battle.

I find Taash extremely hypocritical with Emmerich. They're always complaining how their mother is prejudicious about them being nonbinary but they're also prejudicious when it comes to death magic.
The banter in this game is much less memorable than the others. It's far more reactive to quest progress, both main and companion, which is nice, but few of the conversations stick out.
I mean Davrin and Lucanis literally threaten to kill each other multiple times and accuse each other of being traitors/spies for the gods. Plus Taash keeps calling Emmrich a skullfcker but sure…
I wish I care for these abominations. Each character is worse than the other. so boring that the game want you not to care about them. Anyway thanks for your effort.

The devs said there’d be more banter in The Veilguard than in Inquisition. Turns out we got 12 more minutes! Thank you for doing the Maker's work.
And with two less companions worth of dialogue than Inquisition, so there's a decent amount more per companion

The fact that Strife's response to a tree growing legs was to give it socks is why he's such a perfect match for Emmrich.
