Yeah the presets that come with are the worst. I can get good tones out of it when I start with a blank slate. Also in this video the use of a Tonex amp is really what does it.

The thing Amplitube 5 nails that I love is that they have the amps that look like the real thing. That's something that always throws me off w/ modelers. There is something to being able to tweak what looks like a real amp. I was blown away with the tones when I first discovered ampltiube 5.

I think IKmultimedia has got it backwards, they should have released an Amplitube pedal with Tonex software, instead of a Tonex pedal with Amplitube software, how are we supposed to take that beautiful effects and amp chain that you created to a gig, I am not bringing my laptop to a gig. I will wait for the Amplitube pedal. Great demo, and nice tones.

Whether or not they use software or not, you’re a great teacher and a great player with a great sense of sound so much props to you as always Paul.

I've been using Amplitube 5 for a couple years now. The sims are great. Pedals are great. Just need a foot controller. ToneX pedal and an expression pedal might fill that void.
My favorite part is playing Amplitube through my Boss Katana. Using the power amp in, I turn the Katana into a FRFR speaker cab. I either turn the cab sims off and just use the preamps or use 2x12 cab models to match the Katana cab for the most realistic playing experience.
Between the master volume on my I/O, the master volume in Amplitube, and the master volume on the Katana there is so much tonal variety for anyone.
Amplitube and/or Tonex, Boss Katana, and maybe an expression pedal can provide a crazy amount tones for less than a brand new Marshall JCM800 head.
That whole "amp in the room" feeling can be had with the Katana as your speaker cabinet. In my opinion I feel like that whole saying comes from people playing plug-ins and sims through desktop/studio speakers. H.W. from ToneJunkies said it himself too. Plug Amplitube into the Katana or any speaker cab and that air being pushed at your feet will give you the "amp in the room feeling."

I have been thoroughly impressed with the TONEX so far. It is perfect if you want amp captures in a box small enough to fit on your Pedal Board. And once you set it up, you don’t have to mess with the computer anymore at all. It has allowed me to take dozens of my favorite apps with me anywhere, and at a fraction of the cost of the quad cortex, Kemper, or Axe Effects.

To Bad the tonex pedal does not do all these, all the ambient effects/vibs. trems. IF you could download all the Amplitude 5 stuff unto a Tonex pedal then I MIGHT buy into this Multimedia, but until I can take it to sessions, well not there yet, I am afraid. REALLY NICE playing and Demo.

  • @vovindequasahi
    @vovindequasahi ปีที่แล้ว +3

Amplitube 5 is my go to nowadays, because if you can't get the tone you want from it you need to learn about how tone works basically. Sure I could spend thousands of dollars on hardware to get an even more realistic tone, but you'd have to be a tone Rain Man to hear the difference in a good mix.
IK Multimedia's ToneX takes this even further by allowing you to emulate any gear sound. They still need to work at integrating ToneX better with Amplitube 5 but I'm sure that is coming.
The point is the tones you can get with this software is only second-to-best to the real deal, and for a penny compared you can own three studios worth of hardware at your fingertips. The rest is up to you knowing how to handle tone through EQ, effects, and mixing.

Without a doubt, the breadth is spectacular 🤩 since it runs on a PC there is no storage limit like the multi effects, recording, live performance with midi pedals I love its quality And its practicality, if you obviously know how to use the daw and amplitude, as well as a good audio interface, and good speakers where you can do it live, a marvel even in 2024.

I’ve been using Amplitude 5 since it came out and it’s great once you understand how to tweak it. The Engl amps are my favorites. I also use Neural Cali and that’s quite phenomenal as well. I’m not familiar with Tone X and not quite sure what is different between it and Amplitude 5, I do know however that I can get any tone I want with Amplitude 5. The Neural stuff sounds and feels more like playing through a real tube amp, but that’s not to say that Amplitude 5 doesn’t. I don’t know if this makes any sense, but playing trough Amplitude feels softer when playing. I’ve been playing since I’m 12, played the bar circuit from 17 to 32, and now enjoy just making noise at home with my recording projects. In the years I played semi-professionally I owned quality amps and guitars so I have a bit of an idea what sounds and feels good. I find with any of these amp plugins is to pay attention to the signal going in the interface and the signal hitting the software. You don’t want it too hot or too weak. Great video by the way :-)

My goal was also to take it to small gigs where I don't have enough space for my gear. But it does not sound as you make it sound... I will try your settings, knowing that I can't get the same, as I don't own a Tonex...

I love my Amplitube 5. I set the sampling rate at the highest at 96khz not the lowest 44.1khz and 256 buffer size. Sounds absolutely amazing with no noticeable latency. I also use the IK iRig HD 2 guitar interface 96khz sampling rate 24bit with the gain and volume not to high or low. The signal light should be orange not red or green when you strum a chord hard. And play through a 12 inch Celestion speaker cab preferably through a tube amp.

How many people get to say, "while I wait for my studio to be built." I've got Amplitube and Tonex and to be honest after tweaking I usually arrive at the same sound. I don't think a lot of people realise just how good Ampltube can be. For me it's the best amp sim solution if you are looking for a variety of tone. Neural are great but only concentrate on one or two amps per sim.

I take pedals to rehearsals because most often, that is when I create my sounds to match the band, especially when it needs to be done instantly. I can’t imagine how taking my PC,an interface and speaker would work out in that situation. Also, these software packages look like i’d need to spend days working out how to do basic things with and most pedals don’t. I would like to see the comparison between having a pedal and amp rig vs software in real time.

This is a big problem that nobody discusses. Let's not forget about when the default presets have pedals with the amps that the volume is even higher ! I’ve got all of them. Amplitube needs a heck of a lot of tweaking to get a decent sound, and the IRs are terrible. S Gear is a better choice for midpoint cost. Ultimately get a Neural DSP like Petrucci. That has 4 amps from Peizo to mega gain, but it can do cleans and crunch. The IRs are excellent and it’s super quick to get a sound. Got the ToneKing, Rabea and Soldano ones too. All excellent. Nembrini also do superb affordable amp sims. Their Dumble is amazing, for like £20!! As for IRs just get OwnHammers… learn from my mistakes… I bought tons of different brands. Celestion's are good too. Hope this helps someone.

IF you got latency just get a separate computer that you've set up specifically as your AMP/DWS computer, and a great sound card, and some great monitors and you'll be good to go. Still will be cheaper than buying new hardware for each individual tone you want. Unless you are satisfied with the sound your current hardware gets you, in which case I say fuck it!

What this video lacks is how the hell is he got the sound reproduction coming out into the room for instance? This is what I'm missing - it's not just a question of just plugging into the PC you've got to get the damn sound out as well. I have some studio monitors but I can't really get the volume up. It's a bit like a black box unfortunately.. No one explains the complete chain - guitar to room sound.

Just create a couple of presets while you're sober and then you can just jam with them with a few clicks when you need to get in the ZONE!

Playing guitar is part of my job. I’ve tried the various imitations - how wonderfully convenient in so many ways. But, until practicality absolutely requires me to take the route of those imitations, I’ll stick with my amps.

ToneX pedal is fun to use right out of the box. But I have no idea how the hell to operate it as an interface using amplitube and get it to sound good. I’ve messed around with every setting on the pedal, but no matter what I do as soon as I switch from ‘live’ to ‘interface’, it turns to shit. Heaps of white noise, no clarity. There’s a way around this im sure, but I don’t know what it is.
I use a high end MacBook Pro, normally I run just the helix floor as an interface, and sounds amazing. I use jbl mk2 powered monitors using line out for left and right 1/4”.
My settings are all correct on the ToneX pedal as far as I know, and also the MacBook in/output. I’m trying to run just the ToneX, I’ll figure out how to use it with a helix floor later.
Advice anyone? Something obvious I could be missing?

I'm using this on a powerful PC with a beringer UMC204HD interface, but only going into powered PC speakers.. and the volume is considerably lower, do I need proper Monitors?

I wonder, do you run the guitar straight into an audio interface and through amp5+tonex? cause My tone seems to be much muddier using the very same presets :(

I think NDSP is still better in terms of just the sound and of course out of the box tones.

Hi Paul did you have your ToneX pedal connected to your mac ? to access the sounds stored within the tonex pedal ?

  • @squeezenor
    @squeezenor ปีที่แล้ว

Nothing comes close to softube's amp room, but amplitube is a low s tier/high a tier sim. It's greatest strength is the sheer volume of stuff. Good chance anything you can imagine is available in there in some form or another. And it generally compares well to other sims in direct shootouts where there's overlap.
On the negative side: option paralysis (if you believe in that), gear redundancy, the GUI is still cumbersome, the cab system isn't a favorite, and much of the effects, cabs, and some of the older amps (and gear in general) just isn't that inspiring (though v5 went a long way toward correcting this). And tone net is like 80% garbage; not always worth wading through it.
I've had amplitube max since v4 and v5 can compete or beat anything. Though when I do use it, it's mostly just the amps, with the effects and can coming from elsewhere, usually amp room.

Sounds great till you have a problem. Your only recourse will be e-mail. The company will not respond it will be a bot. Then after days of e-mailing this bot nothing will be resolved. I'm now on day 5 of being locked out after 5.7 update. Trying to money back now but I'm not sure the chat bot understands. Before you buy consider that the only you might get help is through some chat bot. I am sure that any sponsored person on TH-cam say is getting a ton of support. You will not.

I've been drawn to Revalver lately. Amplitube seems overly processed & does a poor job at the VOX style amps
