Great job! This video was easy to follow, clear, and no fluff. It quickly brought me up to speed on the apps without spending hours on TH-cam and manuals.
With the ToneX pedal out, if IK Multimedia would release a stomp box that allowed Amplitube integration, from a cost and practical standpoint it would take over AxeFX. With ToneX and Amplitube models and Amplitube’s effects it would easily rival AxeFX.

It definitely took me a bit to get my head around presets and imports/exports - especially from within Amplitube. Also, using VIR on a Tonex profile I think could use a little UI tweaking to make it more intuitive and apparent as to what object you're actually tweaking.

Thank God there are guys like you who really understand how all this software interconnects. I would think that the connection between tonex and amplitube, they will allow Amplitube 5.5 to download into that new tonex pedal, and or since so many fellows are gripeing for an fx loop and stereo capabilities, that Tonex will do a Tonex PRO pedal with those changes. I just hope all the stuff integrates together with minimum issues. And I thought that my Tonelab VOX se was a great piece of kit. The envelope with technology is and has exploded. Oh, and your Captured stuff is really super, And the Captures on this video, are really stellar.

I've been playing guitar for 40 years. When I play at home I have been using Amplitube 4, Guitar Rig 5 and BIAS FX for years. I would say Amplitube 4 is my main amp model I go to. I find it easy to get the tones I need in a short time. I play everything from hardrock (lots of 80's) blues to rock to funk, Metallica, music from the 50's and 60's and a lot more. I sometimes borrow a friends Line 6 Helix which I also like. I plan to buy a POD GO soon. A friend have amplitube 5. I have been spending a lot of time with Amplitube 5 but I just don't like it as much as Amplitube 4. Sure I can get some good sounds from it but it has a sound to it that reminds me of BIAS FX 2. I can't explain it in words but I just don't like it. Sounds very fake. I was very excited about Tone X. From the demos I've heard before it was released I was expecting something really special. I downloaded the demo and I am sorry to say I am disappointed. For me it is very important how long it takes for me to get the tone I want but also how it feels under my fingers. Take the marshall amps for example. Spent quite a few hours with the demo but no. I just don't hear or feel anything that I can't get from Amplitube 4. I was really hoping for something special. I was also excited about the Bogner model but no. I did like a few things. That Dumble preset Joes Favorite was pretty cool but nothing I can't get close to from the vibroverb custom in Amplitube 4. Being an old guy that grew up with Van Halen I always want a good Van Halen tone. I also know how to get it pretty easily with other amp models and also Amplitube 4. I hear nothing in Tone X that can get me there. What I find weird with IK Multimedia is that when they started many many years ago they were on the right track with the Van Halen sound. Their very first amplitube had some really good Van Halen tones even though the quality won't hold up to todays standards but they had a lot of things right that they lost later on. With the Wampler Pinnacle in Amplitube 4 I can get close enough though. To sum it up. The Marshall models in Tone X is no different to me then the ones i Amplitube 5. Another problem is if I want to buy Tone X I also have to buy for Amplitube 5 to be able to add overdrives and do a lot of other things. I rather spend those money on a POD GO.

I am a AT4 guy also. I only got AT5 for the Diezel VH4. I started off with it being confused because they changed user interface. A lot of things changed and yes it definitely looks like many of the others, BIAS, TH-U, etc. It took me a few hours to figure it out. There is a relearning curve involved when going from 4 to 5. 5 will get it done. In regards to ToneX.......it appears to be marketed specifically for those who have real gear and the Kemler/AxeFx people. From what I have seen so far it gives a producer the ability to capture theircreal gear or the band they are recording for easy recall eithout having to setup mics, cabs, heads, etc. For a home producer who is using just an interface, monitors and a PC/MAC......this is not going to be a game changer for us. With time perhaps it could be using the uploaded user presets. It does look like people are going to charge money for their rare amp presets though. Lastly it appears once the preset is created there us no using it like a normal AT5 amp where you can swap pedals, adjust the knobs, change the cab, etc.

Hmmmm. I am a physicist and I think... I mean , you got these possibilities since years. There were Impulsresponses. And that's a simple Fourier transformation.
I don't know exactly if it's working for a whole guitar rig but... I mean, you measure the response of your system depending on the frequency.
I will definitely dive deeper into that... nerdish math thing but I think that's it. And I don't understand those fancy progress bars and neural network stuff.
With regard to the question, maybe ToneX is deconvolving the cab from your model. Because AmpliTube know many may IRs of those cabs.
Hmmm. An IR ist only for one amp, effect, cab combination and setting ...
Here , you could adjust your AmpModels tone? Wooow. I will report my findings....

    • @michatroschka

amplitube recreates the amps and stomps. its like a virtual rig with microphone settings and postprocessing. ToneX is an AI program that "captures" the sound of one real rig and gives you fewer options but a more specific sound based on the real world models. i would say its flexibility (amplitube) vs realism (tonex). but you can combine those and put a tonex rig into amplitube. that gives you all the pre and post fx plus the virtual cabs.

Hi Jason, your videos are always helpful! I wanted to ask why you can't use the profiles of individual tonex pedals in amplitube? in fact I cannot put a tonex pedal in the position of the pedals in the signal chain but only in the slot of the amps. I don't understand the choice of ik multimedia who herself made hundreds of stomp profiles but in fact unusable in amplitube!

Thank you for the nice review. I’ve got the Tonex, and noticed you covered important things very well.
It’s interesting and funny that IK Multimedia has produced this software with clear understanding that people want to use it in conjunction with Amplitube, yet they did not make it user friendly! You have to open Tonex within the Amplitube as a substitution for an amp, and basically there is no slot in Amplitube for a Tonex pedal to open. Weird.
I disagree with your last statement that it is a software that is “only a few days old”…. This has been only a few days out, but I am sure IK Multimedia folks have been working on it for months if not years. It is amazing they didn’t figure such a simple glitch in this system!!! It appears they are now trying to fix it. Will see.

Sorry if I missed it, but have I understood correctly that I can load Amplitube presets into this thing? Is there any other pedal that lets me do that? just want to have Amplitube at my feet.
For example, would I be able to create a preset in Amplitube with all sorts of pedals, precise mic placement, and so on PLUS one amp/cab panned left and another amp/cab panned right, and then download that preset to the Tonex pedal? I'm toying with the idea of having two combo amps for myself, as I am the only guitarist in my band, having the left output (left amp/cab) of Tonex going to one amp, and the right (right amp/cab) to the other.
Plus combining it with the TC Electronic Mimiq to really simulate two guitarists.

Hey Matt, unfortunately the Tonex presets are not compatible with Amplitube 5. You can open the tone model only in AT5. So, if you want the same settings for a tone model as in the Tonex software you would have to manually set them the same in AT5. Not ideal by any means and I wish it was possible to simply open the Tonex preset within AT5. Hope that helps :-)

Has anyone noticed that if you use more than 1 Tonex Stomp pedals within amplitude 5.71 (and you have a Tonex amp inserted) that you can't recall that setting again without it sounding way off? I think this is just a limitation of Amplitude as of the end of 2023 and if you want a virtual pedal board with more than 1 Tonex stomp pedals you're better off just adding pedals as individual Tonex plugins in your DAW.

  • @OrangeMicMusic
    @OrangeMicMusic ปีที่แล้ว +2

It sounds really, really good for a plugin modeler, I'd say the best of all, and I have almost all of them.
But only thing I find really awkward is that you can't use a modeled pedal + a modeled amp at the same time inside Tonex or Amplitube.
    - In Amplitube, you can use Tonex as an amp and use one of the Amplitube's pedals in front of it, but you can't load another Tonex in Amplitube to use it as a pedal.
    - In Tonex alone, there's no way to have a modeled pedal in front of a modeled amp, even though they are there.
The only way to use a Tonex modeled pedal + a Tonex modeled amp is to have 2 instances of Tonex loaded on a DAW channel....which it's gonna eat up a lot of CPU resources.

Hi Jason, many thanks! I have noted that when you import a tone from tonex to amplitube, the settings of the ampli in amplitube are different in comparison with the original in tonex. Is it normal? thank you, Enrico

My pleasure! Yeah you cannot open Tonex presets within Amplitube. You can open the Tone Model only and then tweak it within Amplitube 5 and then save it all as an Amplitube 5 preset. Unfortunately, Tonex "Presets" are not compatible with Amplitube only Tonex "Tone Models". Hope that helps!

why is tonex functionality better than ampli tube?

ToneX appears to me to be a studio tool to capture 1 unique setting of a guitar, amp and cab. Perhaps to save time during the recording process from having to set up all that gear? Where I see a difference between ToneX and AT5 is simply you have no options to change ToneX like AT5. What you hear is what you get. Then there will be variations from guitar to guitar and the pickups in them. If you don't own an arsenal of amps to render, how will this program be beneficial to those of us that run direct through studio monitors over AT5 by itself? I personally have to dial my patches on a guitar by guitar basis. ToneX looks like they are targeting the Kemper/AxeFx guys.

I just installed Amplitube 5 max and I'm like WTF is Tonex? After watching a couple videos, I'm like, give me a fing break. If there isn't enough amp options in Amplitube, somebody has got way too much time. I got music to make and not endless software and plugins to worry about.

Tonex - you need to have amps to capture.Or a friend who has shop with amps and pedals.Sounds in Tonex itself sounds like Amplitube 5.Not for me.

Crap, I updated Amplitube before purchasing ToneX. Should I deauthorize, uninstall, reinstall?

Uninstall AT5, then install ToneX, then reinstall AT5 is what I read.

I gave up trying to add units to my Amplitude, as they'll claim I have the "wrong password", then I'll change it, bending over backward doing all the woke flat-earth stuff I need to do to try and make IK Multimedia happy, then I'll turn around, attempt another buy -- "wrong password" ...Hooooooooooh......key.

You are not alone, their login procedures are very confusing, I finally got it to work and have been using AMP 5 and Tonex, ( free versions ) they are very detailed oriented and take a long time to get a good tone whereas my NUX mighty plug takes 3 minuets. Good luck.

This is some counterproductive material. Why would you load windows 10 on windows XP? It’s called progression. It does not matter how much you invested into the other, it’s time to move on by the way. It’s really shitty. IK media could work out discounts and benefits for yourself but can’t even acknowledge small purchases to customers. Also the tech-support has been down for three years where they only respond through email It’s convenient for them. Dodge IK media.
